A word from The Iron Shaker
The Iron Shaker is an experience different than the others. The setting of the restaurant is impressive. An intimate feeling and the correct lighting prepares you for an amazing night of outstanding cocktails and great food. The experience will be cosy and delightful for a party of two or ten.
The modern spin on traditional cooking from multiple cuisines is enjoyable. All appetizer size portions meant for sharing! Hope to see you there!

Our expectations were met and then
some by this place. The food was outstanding - sea bass, rice balls, spicy potatoes, and pear salad. The only average dish was the pork belly. With a groupon the value was good but without it would have been a pricey proposition. It was hard to know how much to order and even our waitress had a hard time describing how many dishes would be the right number for us (a party of 3). I think the trouble is that their portions are bigger than a normal tapas plate but smaller than a normal entree. We used a ratio of about 1.5 plates per person and it came out to be just right!"

Stuffed shrimp was bland, pork
belley nothing special, and the crispy flat bread was just awful. Their prices for dishes was ridiculous as well. Even if they charged me 1/4 of the price I would not go back"

Interesting people watching, great
food, friendly staff despite the hectic pace of the evening. Great original bar drinks."

We had gone to redeem our groupon
and we're met by their GM Nelson. The decor is very nice.we had gone on a Tuesday and place was empty, but imagine it to be fairly busy on weekends. The plates, are a good size for something classified as small plates. We tried three and all were delicious. The cocktails were really nice, I tried the liquid gold and it was a great."

we went with low expectations
after reading various reviews. The food was outstanding. We had 4 dishes and the Parm Fries. Sea bass and the Scallops were fantastic. The Shrimp and Steak were very good. The Bread Pudding was also off the charts for desert. They had a great wine selection by the glass which is not usually the case at most restaurants. Service was fair but very nice."

The food was amazing! We ordered
the stuffed meatball - (so worth the 20 minute wait as printed on the menu!!!). The flank steak was really tender and delicious, scallops melted in your mouth!!!! The wine was the best we have had in a very long time. The service could have been a little better - but - this restaurant is a definite must try- definitely going back!!"

Got a groupon for this place. Went
with some friends for wine and small plates. Very pleased with the food and experiance. I plan to go again."

Food was good but menu
limited Music was too loud for diners"

From the outside it doesn't look
like much but inside it is warm, updated and offers a great ambience. A great mix of food offers something for everyone. We recommend the rice balls and the fish tacos!"

The menu lists "small plates" but
the portions are quite sizable. The 2 dishes we tried were really excellent-- the sea bass with miso, and the skirt steak. The setting is modern chic, rather dark and pretty quiet because there was no one else there yet at 5:30. Our server was VERY attentive. The cocktails runs a bit sweet. I enjoyed mine, but might be wise to add more cocktail selections for those without a sweet tooth. All in all, we were pleasantly surprised and would recommend as a good place for couples or for small groups. Definitely NOT for families with kids."

A gem and a fabulous find.
Everything about the Iron Shaker was excellent!"

Went with another couple and had 4
plates, and that was not enough for a full meal. Rice balls, cheese filled meatball were very good, scallops were fine, fish tacos great. Not a cheap way to dine, so come with an open wallet. Décor was modern, fresh. Wait staff a bit unpolished, casual. Great to have another restaurant with quality food on Mamk Ave."

The staff was too casual about our
seating and forgot that we wee waiting for a booth. However once we got seated and received our food the staff was very attentive. The food was good and enough; even though it was small plates. At the end of our dinner they let us know that they wanted to compensate for our wait by offering us free deserts which was appreciated."

First party in the restaurant at
6:30 pm. We asked if they could hang our coats because no where to put four coats in a small booth. They hesitated but then took them. Somewhere. Small plate restaurant. We ordered 7 plates. Got 6. Specialty stuffed meatball was tough and salty. Shrimp was fresh but bland. Great short rib ravioli and flatbread! Good wine list. Wait staff was attentive. Atmosphere trendy and pleasant. Dishes need a little work."

The food was absolutely wonderful
- I was worried that the smaller plates wouldn't be enough - but it was plenty filling. The drinks was just amazing also. Soooooo can't wait to go back!"

My wife and I enjoyed a couple of
small plates and some wine after a movie the other night. Nice ambiance, felt like a city spot with modern decor but without the pretense. Very good service. More importantly, tasty food. The small plates weren't small by any means. The portions were generous. As first timers they were thoughtful enough to give us a free dessert too. Overall, we had a nice experience there and would definitely go back to try a few more dishes. Worth checking out for sure."

We dined with another couple.
Great place! We shared a few plates and had some delicious wine. I recommend for a night out without the kids. Each dish was better than the next. I recommend the rice balls and fish tacos. YUM!"

Great food and loved the "small
plate" concept (though the quality was FAR from small). Drinks were terrific, and the service was perfect - attentive without hovering! Will definitely be back and look forward to trying other dishes there!!"

I suggested the place for a first
date. When we first walked in there were only a couple of people at the bar. We were the only people dining–but again, it was a Monday night. If you are the type of person who never knows what they want to order because you want everything–The Iron Shaker is perfect. We ordered fish tacos, pork belly, lamb chops & tuna tartare. It was plenty for two people. The fish tacos were very tasty, lamb chops were seasoned &cooked very nicely, & the pork belly had an incredible sweet and savory BBQ sauce. The tuna tartare was served similar to nachos, with chips to scoop the tuna and avocado–fun and good for sharing! We had an oreo cheesecake for dessert, it was delicious - just like all of Iron Tomatos pastries!"

We went to Iron Shaker for a
birthday celebration and were not disappointed. The food and service far exceeded our expectations. I would highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion and plan on frequenting it myself. The Happy Hour alone is worth the visit!"

We had a great dinner with a
friend. The food, deserts and specialty drinks were amazing! Got seconds! Went back the next day with new friends."

This was our first time at this
establishment. They just opened and they were a little overwhelmed. Our waitress was very friendly and the food was excellent. We will go back."

Surprisingly good food quality at
this neighborhood bar/restaurant. Very attentive service."

Exceptionally beautiful & chic

The best part about our meal this
evening was the "terra chips" and hummus that was served when we sat down. The cocktails were pretty good too. It went rapidly downhill after that! The fried artichokes were just caked in breadcrumbs and deep fried - not in the least appetizing but not awful and the fish tacos weren't too bad either but I'm being pretty generous. The flat bread was not cooked properly and dense and chewy such that we had to send it back - totally inedible! The meatball substitute was salty and boring sitting in what appeared to be canned tomatoes. The Iron Tomato should be thoroughly ashamed. They are not helping their great reputation!"
Dined on 7/18/2013
My friend and I ordered 3 small
plates. The tuna was inedible, the portobello mushroom quite bad, and rice balls ok. We had high expectations based upon our experiences at iron tomato, but sadly they need to find an upscale chef if they want to sell upscale food."

This is a very nice restaurant
great ambience and good service. While our server was a little forgetfull he was vey polite and accommodating. Drinks are amazing. The only negatives were that it took forever for food to come out, potions are really small so you have to order serveral small plates to share and it is very expensive."
Dined on 6/30/2013
Went on opening night so take
everything with a grain of salt. The food is all small plates expect to order at least 2 for dinner. The drinks are great focusing on elaborate cocktails that are tasty without loosing their alcohol taste. The food is all top quality I especially liked the fried artichoke's but everything was a bit heavy. A lighter option like a salad would have been nice addition to the menu. The wait staff was very attentive however they use Ipads to do the ordering at the table. While this leads to quicker placement of your orders and faster service the fact that they have to scan through the Ipad for the item you ordered seems a bit awkward at the table. Overall a good experience"
