Diner Reviews
  • "We were headed to Glen Echo Park to ride the carousel so this was an excellent location. The menu online looked good and perhaps had options to suit everyone...except a vegetarian. It was a Sunday so the brunch menu was available along with lunch food. I didn't want anything heavy so I ordered a Greek salad. It was more like a toss salad with very small bits of feta and olives along with some cherry tomatoes and peppers. Really not like anything I would categorize as a Greek salad. My nephew enjoyed his fish tacos and his wife the french toast. My partner ended up with granola as the choices for a vegetarian were very limited. Non of the sandwiches or entrees on the menu gave a nod to folks who don't eat meat or fish. Too bad."

  • "lovely venue. we had an outdoor reservation that looked lovely but it was too hot so we chose to stay inside. the restaurant was already reserved so we had the only choice to sit in the bar. all was ok but that's where they put the families with kids and the noise level was annoying. part of the reason was the tables in the bar area are too close together. other than that the waitress couldn't have been more attentive, the food was great, the scones were a wonderful treat and we didn't feel rushed. will definitely go back but would prefer outside or in the actual table area"

  • "I had a great birthday lunch - Shepard's pie which is the best Shepard's pie I have ever had. It was quiet, the service could noot have been better. This is one of my favorite restaurants around!"

  • "It's been a while since we went here for dinner, but four of us has a good meal. The swordfish special was seasoned well, but a little overcooked, the pasta, soup, and salad were fine. The menu offered a lot of choices. The wait staff was okay, but business-like."

  • "I go a few times a year to the Irish Inn for lunch or dinner. The menu is not just Irish classics and food is good. The space can accomodate large or small tables and staff are friendly and competent. Bonus is the music three nights a week."

  • "Food and service were outstanding. A bit noisy in this small dining room, but not too bad. Both had steak and they were excellently prepared and seasoned. Would definitely return."

  • "This was a great choice for a birthday brunch celebration. Our waiter was very attentive to our party of 14. The food was excellent and the mimosa's generous! Afterwards, we all went and had a really nice afternoon in Glen Echo Park. My kids LOVE the carousel, and the puppet shows!"

  • "It isn't summer without gazpacho and the new chief's recipe has just enough heat to enjoy it. The cod cake exceeded my taste buds expectations. It was wonderful and the side salad was great. The fish N chips were great as always. We enjoyed the new sorbets and ice creams, always refreshing on a hot summer day."

  • "June 2013. We had not been to the Inn for over a year and it has always been great, this time i ordered the Eggplant Squash Veg dish and was a bit concerned when i found hard chips in it. They were quick to call the Boss and I was asssured it was some of the Squash skin that had got in and been baked. Anyway i opted for a Burger which was very good and i did get a complimentary pudding. They took my husbands meal away to keep warm while we waited and house wine just fine. As usual, we found that the staff are concerned re their customers, it is a super friendly place, we were there for a Cosy New Year 2012 They also phoned me within 15 mins of me leaving that I had left my Camera behind and i picked it up next day."

  • "I love this place. There's nothing better than sitting on their patio for dinner on a beautiful early summer evening. Great service, good drink, nice atmosphere. One of my favorites!"

  • "The place and it's setting are great. Makes you think that when you leave, you are in a small Irish town."

  • "We were a group of six and I had asked for a quiet table to accomodate the old ears. We got a round table in the corne of the main dining room, which was perfect. The food was good, with a good price range. Loved the salmon. The service was a tad slow, but it was Memorial Day and the place was hoping. "

  • "I like this place a great deal. The pub is excellent and the restaurant is great, too. The menu includes the standard Irish fare, and goes beyond that to incorporate specials that are decidedly not Irish but are nonetheless excellent. I expect cod at an Irish pub, but cod with vegetable salsa and a coconut curry? The waitstaff are attentive but not in-your-face. It's a fine place to come and enjoy both the food and the company of your dinner companion(s)."

  • "We are not impressed with the very recent change of menu. This has long been one of our favorites but the recent changes have moved it off that list for us. It felt less like a dinner venue than a lunch place."

  • "It's a really charming space and the bunch menu was very tasty (loved the bread basket of scones!). The combination of white tablecloths and crayons for the kids made it possible for us to have a nice three-generation lunch. And the location is great if you've been at Glen Echo -- much nicer than trying to eat there."

  • "The outdoor patio was lovely and not noisy. Food was delicious, as usual."

  • "We chose this restaurant because it was near Glen Echo where we attended a dance. Not sure why there is mandatory valet parking. Parking seems amble for guests to self park. The service was very slow. The restaurant appeared to short on wait staff and kitchen help. It took a long time between courses and water glasses were not refilled. The manager did give us a free glass of wine, which helped pass the time. I'm just glad we went after the Glen Echo dance and not before or we would have probably either had to leave without eating or miss the dance. This appears to be a management problem. It was crowded, so maybe the slow service was anomaly. The food was good though, so perhaps we'll give it another chance."

  • "This was my first trip to the Irish Inn to meet a date. I thought it was top notch. I like the valet parking although I did not really need it. We were seated in the main dining area. White table cloths were appreciated. Dinner was very nice, salad included. I will go back, maybe even this weekend."

  • "We sat outside, which was lovely, but amplified the surrounding groups' conversations considerably. The food was fine, but our server was very hard to get to our table throughout the night."

  • "The prices on the menu were not what came on the bill. We asked the waitress to investigate and when she returned she said that they had just increased the prices and hadn't updated the menu yet. If you're going to increase the price of an item by $1 and $2, please get your menus updated, and if you must increase the price prior to getting new menus, notify the servers so they can alert patrons to the fact that the pricing may be slightly higher on some items. The server did adjust the bill to the prices stated on the menu and apologized for the confusion, so we appreciated that they corrected the issue without any further discussion. I am surprised that they're increasing prices since the original prices were already pretty high."

  • "I had a lovely time with my family on Mother's Day. The food was superb. I would recommend putting caprese salad on a plate instead of a martini glass--flashy, but too hard to eat that way. Very tasty, though. We were in a room upstairs with a very noisy party, but I guess there's nothing you can do about that."

  • "Had swordfish special for main course and banoffee for dessert -- both excellent, as was the coffee. Dessert was a bit slow coming out (first cup of coffee already gone), but service was otherwise efficient and timely. Have been there a number of times and have always had a good meal."

  • "Every table filled for brunch, but over 7 minutes to receive waiter requests for drinks, and 30 minutes after we finished eating to complete dessert order and receipt and then another 15 minutes to receive check"

  • "My wife had oysters followed by rockfish; I had the prime rib with twice-baked potato and Yorkshire pudding and grilled vegetables and horseradish cream. We could not have been more pleased by the food."

  • "The Irish Inn never disappoints! Our dinner there last weekend was good, as always. My husband and I appreciate the quiet dining rooms, upstairs and down, when we can actually have a conversation with our guests."

  • "Another wonderful evening with great friends. This time we sat in the restaurant. White tablecloths but not too fancy. Delicious food and very friendly attentive service. We'll be back"

  • "The setting is great, the restaurant is comfortable, and the service is friendly. However, the food on the plate wasn't all up to par. The proteins we had (hanger steak and soft shell crabs) were fresh and cooked perfectly. Side dishes were mostly very poor---a lump of tepid white rice and a few slices of overcooked zuchinni accompanied the crabs. The steak was joined by some excellent onion rings and a lump of unseasoned steamed spinach. Are the sides trying to recreate Irish food of the 1950s?"
