A word from The Inn Spot on The Bay
Waterfront dining at it's best! A beautiful Victorian Inn with outdoor waterfront seating on the wrap around verandah. The unrestricted Bay views and sunsets are unrivaled. "The food is as impressive as the view" - New York Times 2007. This award winning restaurant boasts the Hampton's first Platinum Chef, a title Executive Cheffe Colette took home in 2005.
The main building is circa 1850's and has been restored to it's optimal elegance, featuring the original carved molding around doors and windows in the dining room, and Brazilian cherry floors throughout. There are guest suites above the restaurant as well as individual villas on the property that are available by the day, week, or month. Our seafaring guests are welcome to arrive by boat and try up to our floating docks.
Both the restaurant and the inn are open year round.

  • "Unfortunately we NEVER GOT SERVED. That's right. When we were shown to out table, the table wobbled as sometimes happens. When we pointed that out to the hostess, she stood there and watched as I got down on the floor and tried to fix the table. No help or call over a busboy to fix it. We ultimately told her we needed to move to another table. The waiter came over to ask of we wanted tap or bottled water. That was the last time we saw him. After 15 mins I went to the hostess to tell her we haven't seen the waiter and he was nowhere in sight, she apologized and said she would take care of it. Still never saw him. So we left and combined again. As I did this, there were 2 other tables complaining about the same terrible service."

  • "Lovely place, we arrived one hour early for our reservation and they were able to accommodate us. Unfortunately the chef was at a charity event. We waited over an hour for our appetizers, and they were just ok. Crab bisque was tepid, my oyster sampler was good. Our entrees seafood pot pie was also tepid, overly creamy and not very good, the Curried shrimp too was barely warm but had decent flavor. Certainly not the meal we were expecting. Very overpriced for this quality. This Inn Spot was Spot off."

  • "Had been here before and was quite pleased. This time came with friends and was disappointed, especially by the service which put a damper on the evening. There was no effort to accommodate any requests that diverted from the exact preparation. The server's responses to request for well done, or other requests regarding preparation were sarcastic and bordered on mocking and rude. Main courses were delivered over a period of 10 minutes so some either waited for food to get cold or were eating while others waited. Dessert arrived as a mess on the plate. Those asking for assurance that the coffee was indeed decaf were given a lecture. Too bad because it is a restaurant one wants to love. Not sure if we will give it another chance or not."

  • "We tried this place 2 years ago and had a pretty awful experience with bad service and so-so food. Thought we would give it another try. Big disappointment. Service was really bad and the food was just so-so - a lot of "weird" dishes. The wind was blowing really strong that evening and they didn't close the door until we asked. Everyone was freezing. They should get a fireplace. We will not go back."

  • "We have now eaten here for our 5th and last time. The two women who own the place are very nice people. The setting overlooking the bay is breath taking which is why we have gone back 5 times. At our most recent meal this past Sunday, even though the Inn Spot was not crowded all of our food was a major disappointment. To start with our guest's crab soup tasted like oat meal. Our main courses were all served cold. My fluke was tasteless. The duck which on another occassion had been quite good was not crisp and lacked appeal. Sad to say while the Inn Spot has a great view, the kitchen is quite inconsistent. "

  • "Chef is overconfident and refuses to make any adjustment i.e. diner cannot request tuna steak to be "medium rare" or "warm inside". Won't tell ice cream flavors (3) until served - they do not want guests to have a choice. Great pride in greasy tapioca served in place of bread. Bread can be ordered at extra cost with long delay. Not a place for anyone with food allergies or any special food need. Arrogant chef prepares tough, tasteless food. Beautiful view."

  • "Service was slow at the start of the meal. Seemed as though they were not ready for the 'early' arrivals ( 7:30 early???) after waiting an inordinate time to see anyone after we were seated the meal /courses paired with wines was off to a bad start. We were finally were served the Rose Procecco and finished it long before we got the appetizer that it was to be paired with. This went on for the next two courses then they, kitchen & servers, finally 'caught up'.. Needed more servers or better coordination considering the prices. . Not sure if would recommend to anyone, but will try again."

  • "Decided to finally go to The Inn Spot after passing it many times over the years. I am so sorry we didn't stop in sooner. On a Snowy night, we were surprised by Russian night. Little did we know that Cheffe Colette has put together a world tasting tour over the offseason. At first we were unsure of the menu, but feeling adventurous, the four of us decided to try everything! The appetizers were all well prepared. The main courses of beef stroganoff, chicken Kiev, dumplings and a Wellington style salmon and whitefish each were intriguing. A quiet night due to the snowy weather ended up a great evening with our old friends and our new friends Colette and Lucy. Can't wait for our next visit and the opportunity to dine alfresco this summer."

  • "My wife and I enjoyed an extraordinary evening of great food and fine wines when we attended the Inn Spot on the Bays fabulous Chocolate Dinner. We were served a tasting menu of seven different courses, each prepared with chocolate as one of the ingredients, each paired with a different wine to complement the compiex flavors of the food. The end result was a meal to cherish. The Inn Spot is our go to restaurant when we want a special meal. We have never been disappointed."

  • "We went against the advice of two other families that said this restaurant had poor service b/c wanted to give it a chance for what was a special occasion. Now, we wish we listened and dined elsewhere. The table right next to us was being served and all it would take is for the server to turn 180 degrees to see if we needed anything. With the lack of attention, we changed our minds on more drinks and dessert after dinner. When we mentioned this, we were actually shocked the server only said "well, we're busy and we get to you when we can." BAD ANSWER. Especially since there were multiple servers & the restaurant was hardly full. Disappointed and won't be recommending."

  • "Gorgeous bay views. We ordered the fried calamari (very fresh and light), the crab bisque (rich and tasty) and the escargot puffs (nice and buttery). For entrees, we had the pork chop, which had a great pineapple sauce. The pot pie was nice and has a creamy bechamel sauce. The shrimp curry was definitely the hit of the night. The only dud was the cod, which wasn't well seasoned. The other sour note was the tapioca crisps that the restaurant serves in lieu of bread; I've never been here with anyone who actually likes them. Once, my companions ordered the bread (which you have to pay for) which took so long to prepare we were consuming it with our meal. In all the food is good, not great, but the views more than make up the difference."

She spoke at length about her experiences and approach to cooking, and we had a great time just talking to her. The food was simply outstanding, it was simple yet elegant, unpretentious yet creative and full of flavor. The fact that everything is organic also helps. This place is a MUST."

  • "My husband and I just enjoyed a lovely anniversary dinner at The Inn Spot on the Bay. I had passed this place so, so many times over the years, going to the beach, the fish store next door, but never tried it out. What a gem! I had made the reservation via Open Table, noting that we would love a nice table for our anniversary dinner. We were seated by Cheffe Connor, who gave us a table with a lovely water view, stating, "You would like a romantic table..."--she had actually read and considered my Open Table note! The food was delicious, fresh and perfectly cooked. The service was friendly, attentive, but unobtrusive. Lovely views. This is not your typical Hamptons, overpriced joint. Wonderful place all around! We'll be back."

  • "inn spot has a breathtaking view!!!! we have dined here many times over the years and have always been in love with the gorgeous waterview and charming porch seating!! one must dine on the porch. love their tapioca crisps - delish! the minted pea soup was unique & very pleasing. the "indonesian spicy style" shrimp curry was not spicy at all, actually it was under seasoned and a bit on the bland side - the coconut added a bit of interest. it was good, but not great as i was anticipating. also, in my opinion, shrimp always need to be deveined. it is always an enjoyable evening dining there."

The chef there is really fantastic - the food is creative, impeccable, and without having any of the phony haute cuisine airs - although the cuisine is totally haute. Recommended very very highly!"
