A word from The Inn at Pound Ridge by Jean-Georges
Chef Jean‑Georges introduces his latest venture, a casually elegant restaurant ensconced in the picturesque town of Pound Ridge, New York. Here, Jean‑Georges cultivates a truly seasonal, farm-to-table cuisine, with ingredients sourced from the Hudson Valley and New England, whenever possible. Constructed in 1833 as a residence and serving later as an inn, the building has been painstakingly renovated to preserve as many of the original materials as possible, including four working fireplaces. Thomas Juul-Hansen designed the restaurant’s interior with a modern yet rustic sensibility; zinc and marble accent stone and reclaimed wood. The restaurant’s lighting, artfully conceived by Hervé Descottes, employs paper shades and Edison fixtures to create warmth throughout.

Diner Reviews
  • "We were thrilled. The space is beautiful with all the attention to minute details that sets off a special space. It is both inviting and formal, yet comfortable and private. The food is perfect for the country/family setting, offering something delicious for everyone. No one had a complaint! (A rarity for New Yorkers!) The calamari was the best we had ever tasted! The crab crostini, great and the sushi delicious. The lamb chops and porkchop were tender, perfectly cooked and delicious. My daughter loved her pizza. Then came desserts! The peach cobbler won the night, followed by the chocolate cake with roasted marshmallow frosting then doughnuts. No complaints! The wait staff was friendly and good. We'll easily make the ten mile trek again."

  • "This is the second time that I have been to The Inn at Pound Ridge and I was not disappointed. I chose this restaurant to celebrate my birthday and it was indeed special!!"

  • "The Inn at Pound Ridge was a great dining experience from start to finish. Great Food, Great Service and Great Ambience...."

  • "We were surprised to find it so busy on a Tuesday night, the food was excellent, very nice inside, but relaxed a bit too. Valet parking, high class service, beautiful place."

  • "Our overall rating would have been a 5 except the restaurant, even after multiple reminders, forgot that it was our 30th Wedding Anniversary. We sent a note through OpenTable when we made the reservation and reminded them again when we called to confirm our reservation. This was a very big night for us and for the restaurant to forget it was our anniversary was a big disappointment. Other anniversaries and birthdays around us were noted, so we were even more annoyed."

  • "We have eaten here approx. 8 times since this restaurant opened. It is my wife's favorite. Any chance she gets to eat here , she goes for it. Every thing we have eaten here has been great. Even my 12 year old loves it. They seem to have figured out how to do it right!"

  • "The restaurant is not easy to find- the sign is almost unreadable in the day time, the food was delicious but it is so dark- few if any lights- all tiny vigil candles and we were taken to a part of the restaurant downstairs that we called the dungeon and were put in a corner- and we had a reservation weeks earlier. We asked for another table,a bit brighter and the hostess had to ask if we could. However, the service and the food were both impeccable but I would happily return but only in the day for lunch when I can find my parking stub without taking everything out of my bag."

  • "My friends and I were delighted with all aspects of this experience. Including the parking people. Waiters etc were well trained and very pleasant and knowledgeable. And the food....Oh my! We were all delighted with the different selections that we made."

  • "Nicely decorated, upstairs has a bar feel, downstairs opens to outside. Staff friendly, although the hostess was somewhat chilly. Service was attentive. Olives to start were a little cloying for our taste. The chicken with parmesan crust was excellent, as was grilled beef tenderloin with squash, although the portion on the beef was stingy; sides of broccoli and mashed potatoes, both excellent. Pinot Blanc from Alsace available by the glass was very good and a decent pour. It was crowded for a Monday night, seemed pleasantly quiet, hope it stays so on a Saturday night. The bill was $140.00 for 2, with tip and drinks, which is expensive, but worth it for a nice evening, one of the better options in northern Westchester. Sent from my iPhone"

  • "One of the best restaurants in Westchester. It may look understated, but you will return again and again"

  • "Went at6:30 sat night. Left at 9:30. Had to wait 45 minutes for main course after starters. We complained - the dinner came right out. But overcooked. I kept my lobster which still good but tough- I needed a steak knife to cut through it. My friend sent his pork chop back. His replacement hamburger - he wanted something quick- was tasteless according to him. The French fries were poor - very soggy. The maitre'd did not seem to have a clue about properly fried potatoes. The food obviously was ready sooner but sitting in the kitchen awaiting the waitress to fetch it. They did not charge me for my lobster But not a great experience. I love JG restaurants in city. This one is inferior. No reason to return"

  • "Had lunch there and food and service were terrific. We ate in the main dinning room. However, we were offered a tour of the lower level which was really special. That is where you want to be for dinner."

  • "Last time they were out of half the menu items. This time they had them all and the food was quite good"
    Dined on 8/14/2014
  • "We made our reservation 2 months in advance as was suggested. The reservation was confirmed by the restaurant. We arrived a bit early and were seated in the bar area where we ordered drinks. Within 5 minutes of receiving our drinks, our table was ready. The menu was diverse and the service was excellent. One dish ordered by the table was better than the next ! This is a lovely place to have lunch or dinner while relaxing in the country."

  • "Again, the food here was excellent, particularly the pork chop wrapped with prosciutto. Only disappointment was the small and quite ordinary lobster, very overpriced. But, why must you always be asked to wait in the bar for 15 minutes, even though the tables are sitting empty, including the one you will ultimately get? Answer -- get you to squeeze in another round of drinks. This is just wrong on every level, and it puts a real damper on an otherwise excellent restaurant."

  • "loved this restaurant..would recommend it and will definitely come back!"

  • "Although there was an abundance of help walking around they were poorly trained and not very attentive. Water glasses were not refilled and we had to request cheese for the pasta more than once. They seemed to be very aloof and not very caring."
    Dined on 8/13/2014
  • "We made reservation, but we had to wait 30 min. before been sitted. The waiter covers many tables, so, we had 3 plates of bread before he started taking our orders."

  • "4 times a year we meet our friends from CT somewhere equidistant (NJ & CT) for dinner. We were excited to see the Inn @Pound Ridge written up in Departures and made a reservation at 6:30 because every review talked about long waits for tables. The place is a terrific combination of rustic and modern, distressed wood and silver coffee service, but very noisy so that it is difficult to talk across the table for 4. Appetizers are better than entrees except the chicken in Parmesan coating was fabulous. I would go again for a pizza and salad!"

  • "the food is decent but not especially interesting."

  • "Our reception was prompt and friendly. Staff was attentive without being intrusive. Our dinner was delicious, with the sweet pea guacamole and Berkshire pork chop standing out. Probably erred in choosing chocolate cake over the peach cobbler but the cake was excellent. The full wine list is first rate and the selection of wines by the glass is very good. We are fortunate to live only 15 minutes away so regular visits are particularly easy for us; but even a far longer drive is well worth it."

  • "Loved the downstairs tables with the open patio. Light was great and the fried sushi was one of the best appetizers my wife and I have ever had."

  • "Staff incredibly friendly and attentive. Always had a smile. I felt very welcomed. Food sublime. We had Mother's Birthday Brunch here Sunday last and I couldn't be more pleased. Lovely staff. They obligingly snapped a few photos for us as well. The spinach/goat cheese omelette was sublime and the pistachio/basil pesto on angel hair pasta with garden fresh tomatoes was divine. A new local gem."

  • "Beautiful setting, lovely views, not so great food. Kale salad was good but eggs benedict was way too salty."

  • "My 3rd time here and still thoroughly enjoy it.The food's delicious & the menu offers exciting items. I'm a vegetarian and have'nt had a problem ordering off the menu! The service is attentitive without being annoying and the staff's professional. There were 4 of us and we were having such fun that we werent ready to leave on this busy Saturday night, so the host very politely offered to buy us after dinner drinks and dessert upstairs,(obviously so they could use our table). We were so comfortable that we hadn't realized that they needed our table, so we went upstairs with them where they set up tables and chairs in the bar area so we could relax with their offerings. We didn't take them up on their offer, but the idea of it was impressive."

  • "We drove nearly an hour and a half to dine at the Inn and were glad we made the trip. We went with high expectations thanks to the stellar ratings on OpenTable and elsewhere, and that can sometimes be a problem because your sights are set on perfection. If half stars were available, I'd rate this 4 1/2 stars, and not far from five stars. I rarely order a pork chop but did so here, and it was outstanding. My wife had the chicken, also great. As is often the case, we were slightly disappointed by the desserts, a little pricey perhaps, and not quite up to the standard set by appetizers and entrees. It would be nice if they had a more expansive cocktail menu. The bottom line, though, is that we'd make the trip again."

  • "Came for dinner on a Thursday evening, packed with diners, causing the kitchen to run behind. The staff and general manager were all most apologetic and accomodating, hopefully this issue won't recur. Given the quality of the food, the generally professional and polite service and the pretty dining rooms, it would be a shame for long waits to ruin an otherwise top restaurant. We will come back."

  • "Took my wife here to celebrate her birthday. The venue is beautiful and really busy. It's a total scene. Expectations were sky high, given JG's reputation. Plus, the prices surely make you want to get your money's worth. Overall the appetizers were probably the bright spot. Crackling Calamari and the Beet Salad are stand outs. However our entrees and one of the apps were "warm" at best and we had to send back a cold side. Service was slow. Food was good, but no where at the level if what is expect for the reputation and cost. For a $300 meal, Westchester's peer restaurants deliver a whole lot more. Hope they will find a groove because there is so much potential."

  • "Good ambience, got seated in a not so special place. Excellent appetizer, excellent wine list priced fairly. Entrée fell a bit short of expectations."

  • "We have been in Westchester for two years and have not had a better meal. Everything was perfect. The room is wonderful - well lit, high ceilings. The drinks - cold pressed juice, the ginger lemon soda, the fresh orange juice were all great. The starters - Calamari with Yuzu sauce was wonderfully light. The kids ate almost all of it, we got just a bite. We ordered both the pizzas - the Tomato & Mozzarella with basil and the Black Truffle Pizza with Fontina - both were great, the second was unbelievably good. As were both the pastas - the Ricotta Ravioli with Tomato sauce and the Angel hair pasta with pesto. The restaurant was very kind to our kids, who walked down the stairs, explored the garden and got back to their desserts."

  • "Restaurant was filled with such anger by guests who we're waiting for tables on a Wed. night. Horrible feeling to be surrounded by that. Staff too junior to provide comfort. Look like deer in headlights from Pound Ridge Road. Made reservation month ago and was seated at with direct view of bar back. Told the teenage hostess that we do not drink and prefer not to seated with a direct view of the bar. There was nothing she could do and assured me this was a good table. She obviously had no idea what sobriety was so I enjoyed my evening with a direct view of drinks being poured. Food was not memorable and I have been to all JG restaurants. Nothing sang to me. Seemed to suffer from high turnover and fast service. Very disappointing."

  • " Love the ambiance, serene and welcoming. Food all good, especially fish, hake. Perfect portion size and thoughtfully prepared sitting upon mash potatoes, steamed broccoli in a small pool of delicate broth. I returned again. Every one enjoyed their food. The appetizers were outstanding, best calamari Ive ever had. ever had, melts in mouth. carmel popcorn sunday-amazing. I again ordered the fish, very disappointing...broccoli tough and literally a teaspoon of broth, not enough. Lobster was good but should have had some greens/veggie on the side."

  • "We had a wonderful dinner with excellent food. I particularly loved the salmon with corn pudding and tomatoes. The sweet and savory combination was unusual and delicious. The beef tenderloin was also perfect, and delicately seasoned. The sundae desert with salted caramel ice cream, popcorn, walnuts and chocolate sauce is over the top indulgent. It is maybe overkill for some people, but I enjoyed it. The only negative for the spot is that it is too popular! The noise level was quite high and the restaurant felt crowded."

  • "Everything was wonderful, from the starters to the dessert! The host accommodated my request for a semi-private table because it was my husband's birthday. Our server suprised is with a mini cupcake/brownie with a candle along with our ordered dessert because I had mentioned we were there for my husband's 30th. That was extremely thoughtful and very much appreciated! Thank you again for such a wonderful dining experience."

  • "We were enthralled with our first visit and brought friends to share the experience. We were there 6:15 on an Aug. weekday, so there many summer-retreat families, including many children, resulting in a bit of a hectic feel in the ambience and service. I was disappointed with the lamb chops, which weren't cooked rare as ordered and the sauce overwhelmed the chops spices and herbs. The chicken one of our friends ordered was plunked on a plate and looked naked; he said it tasted good. The other two people were delighted with their meals, one had the pork chop and the other had hake. From when we were there previously, I remember the service being more gracious and the meal including amusee bouche and cookies at the end."
