  • "From the attentive and welcoming hostess, to the amiable and conscientious waiter/bartender, we could not have asked for better service. They have a wide selection of wines. Among the tasty dishes were jumbo lump baby crab cakes set in a local horseradish remoulade and spicy micro greens. A salad of Spanish Baccala, arugula and a miso and pickled ginger vinaigrette was a surprising refresher of contrasting tastes. A special for the evening was a monkfish on a potato purée, it served as the mainstay for a most pleasant evening."

  • "In a tourist town, a restaurant can survive with mediocre food and service. Therefore it is surprising to find a gem with quality at every turn. This is the Inn at Herr Ridge. We were warmly received on a cold evening and given a choice table. Service was attentive without being pushy. The creamy mushroom soup was superb, the scallops done to perfection, and the fresh bread pudding a perfect end to the birthday celebration. We have paid much more for less satisfying experiences."

  • "This was Valentine's Day. When I called for the reservation, I was told the earliest available was 8:00 pm. Called back and asked if we could get a table on the porch (we had eaten there before). The person on the phone said that should not be a problem at that time of night. When we arrived at 7:55, I reminded them we had asked for the porch. We were directed to the bar to wait for the table. Twenty minutes went by until they came to get us. When they did come to get us, they directed us into a room away from the porch, but we passed the porch and saw tables available, with other people eating there too. Didn't want to make a scene, so I dropped it."

  • "We traveled to Gettysburg to visit Gettysburg College. This is a great little restaurant with an outstanding wine list and excellent food from ap to desert. Highly recommended!"

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed the Meal for Two: 20 oz bone in prime rib with Demi glacé, salad, seasonal veggies, and bread. You definitely pay for the quality but it is well worth it if celebrating a special occasion. We also tried the pork belly appetizer. It was melt in your mouth delicious! The sous chef personally came out towards the end of every dining party's meal to greet them. The entire experience was unique - right down to the wildlife visitor in the enclosed porch where we were seated (a bat)! Every haunted BnB needs a bat though. They offered to move us but we were not bothered by the bat, and he eventually made his way out with a little help from the owner. If you stay at the BnB or are in Gettysburg, this is a must try."

  • "We are locals and had only been once before 18 years ago, decided to go for New Year's Eve. It was very nice. We waited at the bar, it was great and bartender very friendly. It was about 20 minutes past our reservation time, but it was a holiday. The food was delicious and service was great! The only negative was the little old hostess lady, she was very condescending and NOT friendly. But think we will add it to our occasional stops, especially the bar."

  • "I picked this restaurant for my birthday, I enjoyed the history with the building and the nostalgia. I was disappointed that they do not have any entrees of that time period, however, the food was nicely presented and delish. The wine list is extensive and the best around Gettysburg, but they do not carry the local wines. Our server was attentive and helpful. The atmosphere was not romantic, it was a busy night with tourists coming in and staying at the B & B, they were being shown around while you were eating at your table. The menu is a la carte and expensive. Recommended for history buffs or wine snobs."

  • "This place is a bit out of town on a main road, truck traffic was a bit distracting as we sat in what was once the front porch facing the road. They have a large wine list and we had a bottle of Jordan Cab, very nice but a bit overpriced. Soup was potato leak, which we split and it was good and earthy tasting. We then had a chef's course of pickled yellow beets, something I very much enjoyed. My main was scallops and shrimp over orzo with pumpkin sauce. Great fall meal, my gf had the filet, locally grown and super tender, with a side of asparagus and piped mashed. We split a hot apple turn over with salted caramel sauce for dessert. Our waiter was excellent and very attentive. Overall about a 4 out of 5."

  • "All food is local except for the fish - everything is from a 30 mile radius. Had the short ribs that were absolutely excellent and the veggies were spot on. Service was right on without being overbearing and server was quite knowledgable on the menu and made you feel special while you were there. Will definitely go back again - SOON !"

  • "This inn had a great and diverse wine list - almost 200 pages! However, the first 4 wines we chose were not available. Other than that, the dinner went beautifully. Appetizers were delicious (if a bit small) and the entrees were great. All food is noted as being grown locally. The proprietors were aware that we were celebrating my parents' 60th wedding anniversary and came over with complimentary glasses of champagne. How nice!! Dessert was the best - a Boston Cream Pie Martini! I'd definitely visit again."

  • "The food here was wonderful! We especially liked the bread which was served with olive oil and roasted garlic. The entrees were excellent as well. The wine list was so extensive as to be overwhelming, but it had a wide range of prices so no complaints. Although the restaurant was almost empty, the service was leisurely at best -- it took two hours for an entree and dessert. We weren't in a hurry so no problem for us. Were were seated in their enclosed porch which was enjoyable. Not a low priced restaurant by any stretch but a good value in our opinion."

  • "In the midst of historic Gettysburg, a quaint country, roadside inn was OK, could have been better. Service was quite recommendable. Food had an interesting menu that did not quite live up to expectations. Seated on porch at roadside (very close proximity to busy road), flys against window did not add to experience. You have to accept that this is a rural, farmland location, but.... Overall a nice quiet experience after many tourists everywhere all day. But then again, it could have been so much more."
