Diner Reviews
  • "We had a great dinner here. It was quiet and the good was terrific. The organic green salad with shaved fennel was so good! Will definitely return next time I'm in Seattle. :)"

  • "I have always wanted to go to the Sorrento Hotel. My parents enjoyed visiting on special occasions and it has lots of history. I am so glad I had the opportunity to enjoy a luncheon on a very special occasion!"

  • "Really poor performance-- especially when I think back to the restaurant's early days when the food was superb. We had the 3 for 30. I think the entree was described as 'rack of lamb' when in fact it was two thin, tough chops served on a bed of tasteless lentils. I wouldn't go back and wouldn't recommend it."

  • "2 adults 2 kids, enjoyed the food and the service was great, just a little stogy. But the food was amazing,"

  • "We go to lots of restaurants as a symphony attending group, and we so appreciate a good experience for dinner. The restaurant was so comfortable, quiet enough to talk with everyone and enjoy not only very good food but wonderful service. What more do you need to have a great night out!"

  • "Arrive during happy hour & have cocktails & appetizer in the comfy, circular lounge. Dining room, like the lounge, has the coffered, dark wood ceiling, though small, but cozy. We both had the very good beet salad. Lamb was done perfectly, my wife liked the shrimp. Service was was good, attentive, but not intrusive. Bar area seemed of ample size. Great spot for a romantic dinner."

  • "We have eaten here in the past and enjoyed high quality food so we signed up to go during Seattle Restaurant Week. Even at $28 per person for the three courses, we felt taken. The food was uninspired with little developed flavor and the portions were tiny. The dessert (cherry crumble) was like a joke."

  • "Traveled from Redmond to enjoy the historic Sorrento with friends. Atmosphere is elegant but well kept with splashes of modern. The food as usual was excellent with great variety for all tastes. We will come back and recommend the Hunt Club to everyone."

  • "Great historic classic restaurant, director Nick was fabulous and gracious"

  • "The delicious meal was accentuated by the gorgeous setting of The Hunt Club. I'm a fan of dark, wood-panelling, art, and the quiet ambiance of venues like this one. It reminds me of haunts from my days on the East Coast that are difficult to find in Seattle. The service was pleasant, not pushy. And, despite the possibility of being stuffy, my experience was nothing but relaxed and pleasant."

  • "I was looking for a place that was near the Seattle Town Hall, so I picked the Hunt Club because it was only a couple of blocks away. Boy am I glad I did. We were seated by Seth who was friendly and helpful. I ordered the Tomato soup with pesto. This is all I had because I am on a restricted diet. My daughter, however, had no such restrictions so she ordered the prime rib, a side of grilled asparagus, and a side of the Beecher's Mac and Cheese. The soup was delicious. The prime rib melted in our mouths (yes I stole a bite from her). The asparagus was delicious. We didn't like the mac and cheese even though most people love it, but that was because we were looking for a sharper flavor. It was a great evening. I would highly recommend it."

  • "The Hunt Clun has a congenial ambience that makes it a pleasure to go there. The food is very good and quite dependably so. The service is excellent, friendly and competent."

  • "What a disappointment! I have been to both the Fireside Room & the Hunt Club multiple times with the Sorrento; our family even rented a dining room for Thanksgiving 2 years ago. I was excited to bring 2 of our friends to dinner through Dine Around Seattle and we all walked away incredibly dissatisfied. Two of us ordered the Lamb dish on the special Dine Around menu. We both got cuts of meat that were ALL fat, I had maybe 1.5-2 oz of actual meat on my chop, his was the same. If the Hunt Club was going to cheap out on quality of food they should just not participate in the DAS program. The other two ordered the shrimp dish, which was ok. We also ordered after dinner drinks and espresso, by the time the cocktails came the espresso was cold."

  • "I dine here frequently, it's in my neighborhood, the food is generally good and the service fantastic. This time, I was 6 minutes early for my reservation and the hostess waited to greet us until we walked three feet up to her. When I told her we had a reservation, she made a face like she had her own reservation, then apologized that they were "running on time" and suggested we go to the bar and she would come get us. Really, 6 minutes makes or breaks your ability to seat us? When we were seated, we were told about the Dine Around Menu, which is why we had come this evening, the DAS menu is usually good. Only what was printed was not what was online that excited us. Fell back on an appetizer and Steak Frites. Appetizer: out, SF: BAD"

  • "This is a perfect spot for business lunch. The service is terrific, no unnecessary interruptions from the wait staff while conversing, they just go about their business quietly and you hardly notice. The noise level is low so you can hear each other. The burger I had was great. More than I could eat so I had it boxed, the next day my husband had the rest and said how great it was."

  • "We ordered the 3 for $31- appetizer, main meal and dessert. Each of the courses was small. I thought it was expensive for what we got. It tasted good. Nothing spectacular though for the cost. Not many people were there- it was quaint and romantic atmosphere and quiet."

  • "A friend and I were en route to an event at Town Hall and wanted to have a bite & drink & chat before. It was hard to find the Happy Hour menu on-line, but I'm glad I persisted. The bar was way too loud for a chat, so we found very comfy seats in the Fireside Room. We shared a "tower" of three small plates and they were all very good: buttermilk-fried squid, lamb sausage, and deviled eggs with Steelhead roe. The "tower" option provided excellent value and a our three choices provided very nice contrasts of textures/flavors. I will certainly plan to visit again, even without a following nearby event to attend."

  • "1st date on St. Valentina's Day? No worries. The Hunt Club was comfortable and had a rich glow about it. The food was absolutely delicious. Oysters starter, duck entree and decent bottle of Pinot. My date gushed over the perfectly prepared salmon. Service was attentive and never hovered. Prices were more than fair for the meal and experience. I'll be back."

  • "Celebrated my husband's birthday here -- just the two of us. Food was very good and the ambiance was great. We ate early, so it was very quiet, but we loved the cozy feel of the restaurant. And, it is very cool that it has been around since 1909. Always very pleased to see a bit of history like that! Service was great too!"
    Dined on 2/16/2014
  • "Booked a late lunch for Valentine's & arrived to a quiet dining room that was winding down from a busy lunch crowd. Being the final lunch guest seated we were wary of being ignored. Nope, we enjoyed attentive, friendly service. I had an amazing soup-salad-prime rib sandwich combo from the convenient "dine-n-dash" menu; outstanding! The only ding was the "Chop Salad" my wife ordered wasn't very chopped. It was tasty, but just a regular salad that needed a knife to get to bite size pieces. Kind of defeats the chop-chop concept when you do the chop-chop yourself. But our server was so charming and timely she (name starts with Rev?) made everything great. Add complimentary valet parking service & the lunch was nearly perfect!"

  • "We ordered the buttermilk fried squid, and while the squid may have been slightly over fried, the sweet chile mayo was great. We ordered the salmon and lamb shank, complemented that with a mac & cheese, and home cut fries. The home cut fries came out as plain pre-processed fries, which was disappointing, but were still tasty. The mac & cheese was superb - portion looked tiny, but was extremely filling and rich, and had the right amount of creaminess to it. The salmon portion was generous, and overall the dish was well made. The lamb shank portion was huge - we could probably have shared it and be content. The pickled mushrooms were lovely, and the meat came off the bone quite readily, and again, the dish was quite tasty as a whole."

  • "My friends and I started a book club based on the books of Dorothy Parker and other writers of that era. We chose the Sorrento's fireside lounge as our monthly meeting place to meet for happy hour as it's décor fits the era of our books. Because the last meeting happened to land at kickoff time for the superbowl, we decided to meet for brunch in the Hunt Club. It couldn't have worked better. The music playing was appropriate to our discussion, the price fit everyone's budget and it was quiet enough for a table of 7 to have a conversation. We enjoyed it enough that we are considering doing it again."

  • "My husband and I were looking for a place to have a romantic dinner. The Hunt Club hit all the marks. The bar was cozy and dark with beautiful wood. Very nice Happy Hour menu. The restaurant was intimate, not a lot of tables. The service was top notch. The food was excellent. My husband had the Prime Rib and I had the Scallops. Both were amazing."

  • "A last minute decision to go out for Sunday breakfast led us to the Hunt Club. Too much food for us to eat! Tried the brioche French toast. Rich and delicious! Will go again. Great service."

  • "Several friends meet monthly for lunch, and we chose the Hunt Club, an old favorite. I must comment on the crab salad which was excellent: watercress, avocado, grapefruit and hazelnuts - wonderful combination! The service is very good without being intrusive."

  • "My co-worker and I always come to the Hunt Club for lunch when we want to get away. The food is always good and the service is top notch! If something isn't right, the staff always fix it right away. Would recommend anyone to visit the Hunt Club for lunch or dinner."

  • "This is a very special place from having appetizers and drinks in the Fireside Lounge or the bar and then a delicious dinner in a very romantic setting. Attention to detail and personalized service made our anniversary dinner extra special. Waiter attentive but not intrusive. Breakfast was just as good and service superb."

  • "We selected the Hunt Club and Sorrento Hotel because we were looking for the "elegance" that seems to be leaving the restaurant scene. You provided everything we were looking for and more. Our wonderful experience began with the valet parking, the doorman, the hotel counter staff -- and flowed into the fireside room, then the Hunt Club. Everyone made us feel welcome -- and gave the impression we mattered. It showed in the other customers also -- everyone enjoying a pleasant experience. The architecture and craftsmanship in the surroundings was first class. Then came the food -- no better anywhere in our recent travels. We will definitely tell our friends to go to the Sorrento Hotel and the Hunt Club."

  • "This is a special place to go during the Christmas season. We enjoy the decorations and all the festivities. A step back in time when we had time to enjoy the finer things that the season offered. Menu is well thought out. Desserts are fabulous. Will plan on a return visit the next time we visit the city."

  • "The Hunt Club was a perfect setting for our NYE dinner. The atmosphere was great, the service was very good and the food was better than past dinners enjoyed there. We had the special three course dinner--mushroom appetizer, lamb and chocolate mousse cake for me; crab appetizer, steak and lobster and cake for my husband. The mushroom appetizer was wonderful--we even ordered a second to share. The lamb was tasty too. My husband's crab appetizer was very small but good. His medium steak arrived more on the well side. The much anticipated cake appeared to be a fancy frozen dessert and some of the filling was still icy. Overall, we enjoyed our evening with the live musicians seated near a cozy fire."

  • "We were there on a Sunday evening. It's a pleasnt, comfy place, and the staff provided very good service. The food, however, wasn't memorable and we thought it pricey for what we received."

  • "We decided on The Hunt Club as a location to celebrate our anniversary. It is a dark, cozy dining room that was tastefully decorated for the holidays. They had a very nice wine list which we enjoyed. I found the presentation of the food to be below average. The salad with dunganess crab was very disappointing. The type of greens used was not at all complimentary with the crab. We ordered a type of flat bread with blue cheese that was covered with the same exact greens. It just didn't work. We still had a nice evening, however, with all the top restaurants in Seattle we won't be returning to The Hunt Club."

  • "A small group of us went to Hunt Club for lunch because it's what we've been doing during the holidays for a few years. Over time I personally have stopped going there due to my impression of the quality of the food prep. First it was the breakfasts then the lunches. For this lunch I ordered prime rib sandwich which was way too salty and the server was present in body only. Well we have a whole year to find another holiday spot."

  • "I decided to take my son to The Hunt Club for Christmas dinner. Just a mom and son night for a special day. We learned very quickly that if you are not over 60 and dripping in diamonds, service is hard to come by. We arrived 15 minutes early in excitement, only to be reminded that it was not yet our time and was asked to please come back at the appointed time. Upon being seated by the hostess we waited....and waited...and waited for someone to take my drink order. I was a bit embarrassed in front of my child because I had raved about this establishment for so long. After asking the hostess twice, we finally found a server to visit us. He was quite nice, so that saved the evening."
