We went for lunch to the Hunt Club, to which I had never been and an event I was looking forward to. We chose it because of the Dine Around Seattle special lunch menu. When we read the menu and then inquired of the wait person, it turns out that what was advertised on the DAS website was not reflected--in at least one instance and that was what I wanted to order--in reality. No major deal, and I ended up with basically the same items off the regular menu (except the dessert). But what is offered on line should be honored. What I did have was delicious and the atmosphere was great.

Pleasant, classy, welcoming quiet dining room was great spot to bring my parents. Conversation was easy, food quite good, and service was almost perfect. The Kale salad was loved while the green salad was not. Salmon in a sultry mild bacony baste was moist but six stalks of asparagus making up an extra charge side was a paltry offering. The dessert was not a stand out. But my lemon drop at $10 was wonderfully tart and refreshing.

If you are looking for a quiet spot for biz or romance, this is it. One if the best dining rooms in Seattle. Small quiet dining room. Old school Ceaser salad . . Sign me up. Main course is great, desert needs improvement I would highly recommend the Hunt Club, especially if you desire a quiet place.

  • Great entree, very mediocre salad and dessert.

The kale salad was missing the hazelnuts, and it was just a pile of large kale leaves in a pretty vinegary dressing with a few beets on the side. I ordered the salad because of the "hazelnut vinaigrette and hazelnuts" it promised, but it was missing both. The entrée, Lamb confit, was excellent. But the "sticky toffee pudding" that followed looked and tasted like a bran muffin microwaved in a ramkin with a small dollop of whip cream on top. There was no sticky, no toffee and no pudding. I truly think they were out of ingredients and pulled the leftover bran muffin and tried to pass it off. We loved the ambience and I'm willing to try it again. My husband's pot roast was really good and his blueberry buckle for dessert was pretty good (but a blueberry dessert in November? Not very seasonal). Next time, I'll order the Caesar salad and the sundae for dessert. I LOVE the subtle background music (light jazz). They haven't succumbed to the Seattle restaurant trend of playing loud techno music, even in finer dining establishments.

Perhaps staff was absent, but I expected an old fashioned tea room pace and was surprised by the hustle bustle. Our order was confused, when it finally came the server stood at our table and switched the portions around to make one correct order and then went to get the rest. I needed to ask for a glass of wine and tea and then had to get up to ask for a spoon for my soup. We were hurried through the ordering process. It was quite " dineresque" in tone. As the lunch progressed the server calmed down somewhat so maybe something had happened.

We've dined at Hunt Club 2 other times and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We were excited they participated in the DinearoundSeattle $33 event. We were quickly seeved a basket of bread but no bread plates. after about 5 minutes we signaled a waitress who said nothing , returned a few minutes later and " plunked" the plates down, again without a word! Always a fan of Caesar salads, thus one was a miss and sent back. Romaine tasted like water, dressing and croutons bland. It was loaded with chopped anchovies though. The "spicy lamb shank " needed seasoning but was otherwise very good. My date's albacore was so fishy tasting that I would have sent it back. Sticky toffee pudding was good.

I have been to the Hunt Club many times, and it is always wonderful. I have always loved the dark mahogany paneling, it just brings back an era of fine dining in amazing hotels. We stopped in after a music concert nearby and had a leisurely cocktail followed by a delicious meal. I enjoyed the 9 oz sirloin, with half baked potato. It was prepared perfectly! My wife enjoyed a pork entre which she raved about. The prices are easy on the pocket book too. They also offer a $33 prefix dinner with three courses that was tempting, but I had my heart set on a good juicy steak. They also have free valet parking, which is very unusual in down Seattle these days. So go if you are looking for a fun, romantic dinner.

On our most recent trip to the Hunt Club we were disappointed. For the price we expected better food…the sirloin was over cooked and the accompanying potato gratin was undercooked and crunchy. The ahi entree was good but not great. In their defense we did not give them an opportunity to rectify the problem as we were hurried that evening. At these prices we expect more perfection. Service was attentive however.

The Hunt Club harkens back to an era of fine hotel dining rooms at the turn of the 19th Century. Heavy wood paneling, quiet conversation, heavy tableware. And the food is very good, too, and moderately priced. We (four of use) all had the $30, three course dinner. Well prepared, professionally served, and properly paced. Great place to eat before an event at Town Hall or ACT Theatre.

The Belgian waffle I ordered from the Hunt Club, served with mixed berries, butter, and real maple syrup, did not disappoint. Served piping hot and crispy around the edges, the butter melted in perfectly. My husband ordered a breakfast hash--tender, thin slices of prime rib with smashed red new potatoes, and topped with 2 crispy fried eggs. It was delicious! The bacon was cooked to perfection. We also tried a freshly-squeezed juice blend with cayenne, watermelon, and a few other ingreds. Loved it. If I had my druthers, I would open the place to more light, but that certainly wouldn't keep me from going again. In fact, I might stay at the Sorrento in the future, just to have easy access to the Hunt Club!

A nice choice for an old school fine dining experience. The room is dark and somewhat dated but I think that's part of the appeal. The dishes have a German slant to them, which was great by me. Gluten free options are clearly marked on the menu and the staff showed special concern in that regard. I had the pork loin, my companion had the chicken roulade. Both excellent dishes and well prepared. The cheese plate was a bargain at $20 for six cheeses with great sized portions of the offerings. Recommend for a quiet somewhat upscale dinner at a great price.

The food was awesome, as usual, but we had no waiter. The hostess did everything and we were the only ones in the entire restaurant. This has always been our "go to" romantic spot. Maybe we just hit a bad night but it was very disappointing. Poor service and the food was not up to the Hunt Club standards that we remember. The pork was over cooked and extremely salty and someone was heavy handed with the cayenne pepper. It was too hot to eat unless you like highly spiced food, which I don't. I would not recommend this restaurant to a friend.

The Hunt Club in the old Sorrento Hotel is a great place for fine dining. The menu was wonderful - I had the chicken roulade and my wife had the trout. Both were delicious and well prepared. The wine list included a very nice Gruner Veltliner that perfectly complimented the fish and chicken. The ambience is the real star. Sorrento is an old time Seattle hotel, with the look and feel of the early 1900's. Lots of marble and dark wood. Go for a getaway as a treat.
