The House of William & MerryGreat delicious findMy husband and I went for a quiet relaxing brunch on Saturday and it was delicious. The coffee was ground fresh, the service perfect and the fun delicious and fresh. My smoked salmon Brie creeps hit the spot. My husband had the crispy egg, bacon and Gouda crepe which was also good. We are planning to make this a regular outing because the dinner menu looked interesting also. The price was quite reasonable and the setting was comfortable and tasteful. A good discovery!6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMQuaint restaurantI took my family here to celebrate Father's Day. The staff was great about splitting a meal between my two younger kids. We did enjoy all the food. The bar snack appetizer was great. Pork of the day was raves on by my husband. Desserts were scrumptious.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome...as usual! It's one of our favorites...last night was extra special!6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWill definitely go backFood was excellent with good portion sizes. Who knew pretzels could taste so good! Service was great.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMFine foodChef has thoughtfully planned a menu of
delicious healthy cuisine. Fish choices were
abundant. Service was good. An excellent restaurant
for Wilmington.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMOriginal menu, great foodMy wife and I went for dinner. We had the chefs selection app which had a lot of original items for a tasting plate. My wife had a pasta and shrimp dish for an entree which she enjoyed. I had the corvina which was well cooked, crispy on the outside and flaky and moist on the inside. The desserts were our favorite part. We had the rocky road and the strawberry desserts. They were both really good and the presentation was unique and original. The only complaint I had was the chicken skin on the tasting plate app. They were tough. But the rest of the tasting plate and the rest of the meal were great. Service was good too.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a nice surprise! My husband and I dined here last Sunday just on a whim. We had driven by and noticed the restaurant but never called for a reservation. Now we love William and Merry. Its our new favorite local place. WE had the 3 course Prix Fixe menu as it was Sunday night. Had delightful salads with lots of good healthy bits in it, and our main courses were tasty fresh and really interesting. I had a crab pasta dish w a spicy tomato sauce, and My husband had a Tilapia dish which looked super. I had a divine creme brule, and my husband had a chocolate brownie dessert which was to die for! Our waitress was fun and knew lots of the patrons. The building has been restored and is quite a neat house!6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGood date spotNice intimate setting in house. Can be loud due to minimalistic decor. Nice attention from staff. You will feel welcome and appreciated as a customer.
Food is excellent. Wife had duck w/ mushroom and bacon gnocci...aweswome. I had Covina...cooked to perfection with crispy exterior and fork flaky center. Good accompaniments.
Strawberry rice pudding w/ strawberry balsamic sorbet...great finish!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMMight never cook againWe heard great things about W & M and our expectations were far exceeded. You can't go wrong with any menu item!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMExpectationsThe expectation was that the food would be different and not chain food..which of course that expectation was met. I was presently surprised by the broccoli rabe...excellent. I think lunch would be fun....will try that next.
Dan our server was excellent...really knew his stuff and the manager Matt came into the dining area...which is nice.
Thank you5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMW&M Does it AgainThis was our third time dining at William and Merry and we have had a polished experience every time. The frequently changing menu includes many items not often seen locally, as well as unique flavor combinations. My work requires extensive global travel involving many great restaurants, and I am convinced that we are very fortunate to have an establishment of this caliber in Wilmington. The near-idyllic setting is a bonus.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMDining as an EventThe chef's choice walking menu is the best I have had. The creativity is second to none. The fresh ingredients included the mulitude of seafood and meats is blissful. To dine here not just an foodie experience but a foodie event.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best dining experiencesOne of the best dining experiences in the Delaware Valley. .....would definitely return.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWill be back!My husband and I enjoyed our first dining experience here and sat outside on the porch. We will definitely be back, the food was excellent, and the staff was very knowledgeable. All in all a very wonderful dining experience...oh almost forgot to mention...FREE Valet parking too!! Awesome!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food - amazing we haveGreat food - amazing we have this for Hockessin/Wilmington area. Chefs tasting plate was a meal itself. Only drawbacks - we were upstairs and another party was in the room, lots of noise off of the hard surfaces. If you want a quiet romantic dinner go early or late! Also it took a while for our server to get the first round of drinks from the bar. Nevertheless, we will return! This is a place to try!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMA special birthday dinnerI decided to try this restaurant for my wife's birthday dinner. It is located off the main road in Hockessin, Delaware in what appears to be a restored Victorian farmhouse. The menu had many enticing items along with an "in the moment" chef's tasting menu of four courses for $60/person. Wine pairing were offered for an additional $30/person, but we decided on a good bottle of pinot noir instead. Overall this is an excellent restaurant and I wouldn't hesitate to return for another special occasion or even casual dining.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMOur new neighborhood hauntAfter 12 years of marriage, my wife and I seldom agree on anything but we both thoroughly enjoyed visiting The House of William & Merry to celebrate our anniversary last weekend. We live in close by in Hockessin, and enjoy supporting our local small businesses whenever we can. This eatery is tucked away in quaint old farmhouse that maintains its rustic charm on the outside belying a trendy, modern but comfortable ambience inside. The chefs aren't afraid to take chances with bold combinations of exotic ingredients that pleasantly surprise, and the menu reflects great care in their selection. We've enjoyed the bar in the past as well — it's cozy and intimate and affords easy, fun conversation with other patrons, kitchen staff and servers.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat findRecommended by a friend and he was right on, great place.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding and very specialOutstanding and very special evening. the rockfish was one of the best dishes i ever had!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst timers there for 23First timers there for 23 yr anniversity dinner. We did 4 course meal called chef's selection. It was completely up to chef on what was prepared for us. The scallops were the finest I have ever had. A lot of unique items on the menu including a local wild onion. I am glad we choose this unique restaurant, a restaurant in a home. It was what I was hoping for this special occasion.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMInnovative and very tasty!High quality, innovative dishes using fresh local foods when available. Our main entrees were the salmon and the veal, both of which were very delicious and filling. Would go back again.
AK4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMOur Special Place! We love coming here...love Dan and Matt and Merry...food is amazing!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMNot your everyday dining experienceDecadent, Professional, Incredibly Executed - Yet not stuffy or pretentious. The Chef’s choice menu is a must try for foodies. The bartender the night we arrived was professional and very astute to the menu and more importantly to myself, one heck of a mixologist. A true dining experience for those who enjoy talent within the kitchen. This was our first experience here and certainly not our last.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMBest In Hockessin!By far, this is the BEST restaurant in Hockessin. OF course, the competition is basically non-existent, but this discerning palette will definitely be returning soon.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMOur third visit, and neverOur third visit, and never a disappointment. Don't love menu choices, but what we ordered was excellent.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMNever knew it was there untilNever knew it was there until I read good reviews. Thought I would try it out. The food is always outstanding with Chef Bill finding ways to combine ingredients into a unique dish.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMI'm love arranging to meetI'm love arranging to meet here with friends. If they haven't been here before, the experience is always way beyond anything they expect. All 4 of us enjoyed a wide range of dishes from appetizers right through desserts. There is no where else in the local area that you can find food like this.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, barista neededI highly recommend this restaurant for the creative and delicious food as well as the exceptional service. The only glitch in the evening was the after-dinner coffee. A restaurant striving for fine-dining excellence should have an espresso machine; in this restaurant's case, its espresso machine has been broken for some time. As an alternative, the restaurant offers coffee, but the coffee served is watery and tastes like it is made with unfiltered water.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was fantastic. Wine recommendaFood was fantastic. Wine recommendation was so-so. They do not seem to have an onsite wine expert. Still I will go back for the food and the cocktails are great.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMBest restaurant in southeasternBest restaurant in southeastern PA/northern Delaware. Innovative. Impeccable service. Wonderful food.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMDate NiteWe enjoyed our first dining experience to The House of William & Merry. We were seated promptly and enjoyed a glass a wine before diving into our Mesculn salad and Pork Plate served in a cast iron fry pan. I am a stickler for hot (temperature) food and it was prevalent throughout the meal! We both had the veal chop and it was a large delicious serving delicious. My wife brought half of it home. We finished our meal with a simple desert and after dinner drink. We will be returning.3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways great food and serviceAlways great food and service to say the least.
