Diner Reviews
  • "This was the perfect place for my girlfriends birthday dinner."

  • "Innovative, well crafted dishes. New and inventive cuisine. Very attentive and professional staff. We stumbled on Brasserie for Sunday brunch and were smitten. We returned two days later for dinner and were similarly impressed. "

  • "We had such a great time! The food was fabulous, the service superb, and the outdoor dining made for an unforgettable experience. I will definitely be back!"

  • "A wonderful find. Favors imaginatively combined, a beautiful patio,a knowledgable & friendly server, the stars were aligned..do not miss the pork belly appetizer, tuna appetizer, jadori chicken, but really, you can't go wrong with almost everything. A recommendation: make sure you sit on the patio..inside is cramped and does not capture the luxurious southwest feel."

  • "I bought dinner for an old customer of mine and we are good friends. The food was very very good, however we had 4 people tending our table, from Brian the owner to the hostess, this makes for a slow, repeated request experience, also I ordered a while wine then a rose and due to the heat in AZ I requested they be chilled and the restaurant did not have proper chilling buckets for the wine bottles, they overlooked serving wine once the 1st glass was served and the amount of bread given to accompany the aged goat cheese appetizer was to small and once we requested more bread to finish off the cheese, this took way too long. Overall very good food, mediocre service"

  • "My husband and I always have a delicious dinner at The House Brasserie when we travel to Phoenix. The food is delicious and the presentation beautiful. It is our favorite outdoor patio with the lights in the trees and the charming house and patio. It is a gem not to be missed."

  • "It was such an unusual menu it was hard to choose what to eat, so we ordered much more than we could eat and took "doggie bags" so not to waste a morsel. Will definetly be back."
    Dined on 3/29/2014
  • "Made reservations for my wife's birthday and we were looking forward to a nice, relaxed, romantic dinner. Instead had to sit indoors where it felt more like a bar setting instead of the charming and more quiet outdoor patio. The food arrived late, over cooked and barely warm. Overall a great disappointment. We will not be going back."

  • "It's a beautiful house with a nice bar, backyard and outside. Five stars for that. As a curious fact, the restrooms are outside and are small. The food was good but nothing memorable. The porkbelly: The noodles and egg were a great mix but the meat lack flavor and it was undercoocked. The Dr. Pepper meat with cheese fries was pretty good. Filet: uneventful. The goat cheese cake was delicious. I would go back just for that. Coffee was good. The service... well, the service was pretty bad. We learned about the special of the day because the table next to us was told (while we ere already eating). To get refills was a journey. My friend ended up helping herself for napkins. Good news is that there's plenty of room for improvement."

  • "Wow, we weren't expecting to find such a great restaurant during our trip to AZ! Would definitely go back! Yum…Yum…Yum! and a funky atmosphere with the oldest house in Scottsdale being the setting."

  • "We had a special evening with friends and a friend who called earlier and ordered some "surprises" for us. The staff could not be more attentive nor personable. The food was excellent, as usual. The House simply never disappoints. Thank you for another special evening and memory."
    Dined on 3/13/2014
  • "The food is always fantastic, but the restaurant was slammed on a Friday night, and therefore the service was slacking slightly. The dishes came out a bit slower than expected, and rather than timed so that we could enjoy each course, everything came out at once. But we still love the House and we will be back!"

  • "We really liked the food but unfortunately were given a table next to a baby throwing food all over the floor. The hostess should have been able to recognize we were two people on a date night be for seating us uncomfortably close to a table of loud, disruptive people. The wait staff rushed us through our food by asking if we were done with each plate three times per course. They were like vultures waiting for us to finish each dish so they could interrupt us and take the dish. I would not recommend this place for a romantic date evening , but they do have good food. Perhaps sitting outside may give you a different perspective as we were in the little house part of the restaurant."

  • "This is a phenomenal restaurant, fit for a romantic night out or dinner with friends and family. They were extremely considerate of our experience, even offering us a glass of champagne while we waited for our table to be ready. The best part of the restaurant (mindful of the amazing service) is its incredible decor. Soft candle night, damask patterns, candelabras, chandeliers transform the atmosphere into something out of a movie. Top-notch - can't wait to go back!"

  • "This was our second time here and we brought friends along after we raved about our first experience. While the service was outstanding and the atmosphere perfect for discussion and enjoyment the food was just OK. I am a creature of habit and on my previous visit I had the rib main course and I could hardly wait to have it again, in fact my friend ordered it as well. His was as mine had been the first time but mine was full of crisal, fat and bone which made me think it was the last piece on hand and should not have been served. In any event it was a disappointment!"

  • "When you enter the lit patio at night you are instantly relaxed and happy. Outdoor lighting, brick flooring and lots of green. It's a cool old house that is very welcoming. Now onto the cocktails, great. Interesting mixtures that actually work and are interesting without being too weird. The small plate appetizers are full of flavor and are very satisfying. The brisket sliders my husband had on a biscuit were really tasty and filling. I had the black kale salad that was packed with flavor and a good size. I had diver scallops that were like butter and the Ribeye steak was amazing, enough for two. I felt the only slight downside was the desert list, too complex. We will be going back again with new friends that I know will love it."

  • "A perfect combination of original, delicious and charming. Sitting in the outdoor patio with beautiful, subtle lighting, with vines and plants separating the patio from Main Street on a warm but cool evening was a perfect place to catch up with old friends. The menu is filled with interesting and delectable dishes. The cocktails are inventive and compelling. Each dish is presented with a flourish, perfectly plated. So many good choices with something for everyone from carnivore to vegan. Desserts are homemade and original, yum. Wonderful friendly service by knowledgeable staff. This is my favorite restaurant."

  • "The House was recommended to us by a friend. We loved the activity level (to a certain degree) and ambience. There was a large party that evening, however, and the volume was very high. Otherwise, great food, great venue, great location. We will be back and we will recommend it to friends."

  • "The food is good but portions were too large and too fussy. Wine decanted into a ridiculous receptacle that was difficult for the waitress to pour from. Our waitress just seemed nervous and not comfortable with her role. We sat in the garden, which is very pretty but the overall experience was disappointing as it could have been so much better."

  • "This restaurant is great! The food was tasty although not the best I've ever had, I would suggest the Creekstone Filet and the Foie Gras (it's not on the menu, but the chef will make it for you and it's crispy and fatty and delicious). Even if the food wasn't the best ever, the service really was! My girlfriend is tough when it comes to drinking, they went out of their way to figure out a drink that she would like. On top of that, the waiter Michael was just awesome. It was her birthday and they brought out sparklers and this great chocolate pudding dessert topped with banana marshmallow, it had a cocoa puff cookie on the side that had a great texture and was surprisingly good."

  • "It was raining heavily and we were seated outdoors under a tent. It was miserable getting to our table and even worse going to the restroom. An umbrella was outside the restroom doors and all of the smokers congregated there. You had to walk under a heavy stream of water in order to get into the restroom. Smokers were also gathered behind our table so we continued to smell while dining. The waitress significantly oversold the starter portion sizes. We never received a salad, and a main meal was late getting to us. The food was average. The poutine starter was the only thing that stood out. When we received the bill, the cook had added an addition +1 to ea of our starters. All of us ordered our own starter. Why was there an upcharge?"

  • "The service was excellent and the good was outstanding. Not many places like this in the valley."

  • "I just heard of the place recently and was shocked to hear it's been around for about 2 years. It's on Main Street, downtown Scottsdale, on the "other" side of Goldwater Bd. In the second oldest still standing building in Scottsdale. The interior is lovely, but we were seated outside in the beautiful garden that seems to wrap around most of the house. The interesting thing is that the garden, seen from the street, looks kind of slapdash: a tent structure providing cover and protection from weather. But once inside it's absolutely lovely. The service was friendly and competent, the food outstanding. Inventive and delish."

  • "We found the music level high and tables a little close (at least where we were seated). Sever was attentive but a little aggressive for my taste. Nice touch: one of the help came to our table and spread a cloths down on which to put our pocketbooks. Lul"

  • "The wife and I had a blast here for Dinner. Fancy Poutine for an Appetizer, and it only got better from there. Cocktails were awesome, and our waitress was very helpful and knowledgeable. We loved our experience."

  • "This place is very impressive. I have dined all over the world and would consider myself a foodie. This place has incredible food, service and the bar tenders, Kevin included, are very talented! You should try this for sure! Oh, be sure to try the pork belly and crab fries rice. Burrata cheese is good too for a starter."

  • "One word, "Overated". This includes service and food."

  • "Food was great but don't order the scallops as they are just ordinary! Unless you know the table numbers you might end up felling like you are eating in the parking lot! The duck meatballs are a true treat."

  • "Very nice place for a romantic dinner. I made reservations on valentines day on was promptly seated when I arrived. Very nice outdoor seating. They had a decent selection for dinner. It's a better place for a bottle of wine than having a beer."

  • "We went here valentine's night. We were late for the reservation, and it didn't matter one bit. They were pretty busy and the kitchen was backed up which we completely understood. They sent out a little munchie for free to hold us over. Nicole, our waitress, was bubbly, attentive, and very knowledgeable about everything on the menu. All the food was delicious...I had scallops and my husband had a rib eye. It all melted in my mouth!"

  • "Overall, the restaurant is nice, the house itself is well put together and somewhat romantic, and their servers are very friendly. The food is okay. We were there for Valentine's day and ordered their signature salad, which the couple next to us stated was "interesting." Now I know, that "interesting" sometimes means "not that good." The chicken was fairly dry, wheras the short ribs were good. Overall, the restaurant is average. Good for a night out, but I wouldn't rank it among places I'd go again."

  • "Such a lovely setting for a nice romantic dinner. The staff were very pleasant and genuinely engaged with all of the tables. I enjoyed hearing about the restaurant and the menu from our knowledgable server. I had the jidori chicken and it was perfection! The goat cheesecake dessert was outstanding as well. So rich and creamy. Just the right amount of tartness smoothed out by the sweetness of the strawberries and aromatic lavender honey. It is a very unique and delicious dessert! I am giving four stars for service only because we ordered a side of french fries that never came. It was not on the bill so it was not a big deal. My partner and I figured we didn't need the extra calories and will try them on our next visit which will be soon!"

  • "Some tables there look like great ambiance. Unfortunately, the two we tried were below acceptable. We had requested outdoor seating which we were given. To our disappointment it was a table wedged into a walkway between two outdoor areas. Not only were servers and patrons brushing by our table constantly, the floor actually heaved up and down with the traffic. We requested another table and were placed in the dining room. The problem with this seat was that the banquette patron had glaring lights from the kitchen shining in their eyes. This was to the point of distraction. We finally retreated to the bar to dine. The bartenders were great and we enjoyed the experience from there. Food was hit and miss."
