The House at Secret GardenOne of the best hidden spotsOne of the best hidden spots in the Valley. It was beautiful to sit outside in the evening under the moon and stars. The staff was extremely friendly - had nice conversations with the hostess, bartender, and our server. The food was excellent. The didn't stint even though it was the restaurant week menu. Everything was fresh and well prepared. I will definitely eat here again.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMI love the patio of this placeI love the patio of this place - it was a perfect place for a 1st date. I will definitely return to try more dishes. The New York Strip was prepared perfectly which encourages me to try the more unusual dishes offered on a return trip. The service was perfect. All of our needs were met almost immediately without ever feeling like the server was hovering. All-in-all a great place to get to know someone over wine and dinner.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful gemWe all loved this place. Good food, great atmosphere and service. Because we sat outside
The only problem we had was one of the air conditioning was close by and noisy.
Maybe it can be moved.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMThe House at Secret GardenThe House at Secret Garden has consistently delivered a top quality dining experience for my guests and me! I routinely recommend this place to my family and loved ones who are looking for a unique venue with locally sourced ingredients.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food, Service only OKThe setting is very much a garden, so it's very peaceful, but the property was a little odd. We had a little trouble finding our way to the front door and the hostess station. They were not quite ready for us when we arrived, despite reservations. The rest of the evening's service was a polite, relaxed pace, but on the verge of being too slow.
However, the setting was great and food was expertly prepared and delicious. The wine list had lots of options. We started with the Smoked Trout Spread. The fresh catch was Halibut in a light tomato sauce that complemented the fish well, but was seasoned delicately enough to let the fish shine through. The Papparadelle and Sweet potato desert were perfect too. We're definitely headed back.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMBest visit yetThis was my third trip to The House and the best meal yet. The beet salad was simply divine! Great service as well!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMThis place is amazing. I bookedThis place is amazing. I booked dinner for 10 people here from out of state (business dinner) and they RAVED about it. I'm a pretty big fan myself. Be sure and try those polenta fries--they're NOT to be missed!5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome Outdoor DiningA great spot, food was excellent. Service was well above par, the waitresses really knew their menu and food there. Great experience and would highly recomend.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a beautiful gardenMy husband and I recently dined here in celebration of my birthday. What a gorgeous place! The food and service were excellent.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother Incredible ExperienceI was excited to be seated under the Carob tree, it was beautiful! Props to our waitress, she was very friendly& knowledgeable with the menu, she truly appeared to love what she does. I ordered a cocktail I've had at previous visits but this time it just wasn't right, I usually hesitate to remark about such things but I did and she immediately had the cocktail remade for me without making me feel I've put anyone out and then to make it even better let me know that both she and the bartender agreed with my thoughts on the taste!! Her customer sevice skills are spot on! Five stars for that alone! The food was incredible! Cheeses, arancini, shrimp&grits and halibut, all amazing! The only complaint I have is that I was too full to have dessert!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMwe'll be back soon!a really great experience. my wife is a foodie, so she was really impressed that I suggested this spot. the food was great and filling. we ordered quite a bit, and really liked all of it. the atmosphere was great - not too quiet, and not too noisy. favorites that night were the South Mountain Paloma drink, parpadelle pasta, and apple cobbler. we have friends coming into town - this will be the perfect spot to bring them. looking forward to returning soon!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing!LOVE this restaurant!
We had the most romantic dinner on the patio this weekend. There is really no other patio in Phoenix that can compare. It is so refreshing to dine at a restaurant that makes fresh pasta, you can not beat it! The Gnocchi was to die for and the polenta fries are always a must.
The House at Secret Garden is our favorite restaurant and never disappoints.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place. Loved it soGreat place. Loved it so much the first time that we went with friends the following week. Very quiet, lovely garden setting. Food was very good and service excellent. Highly recommend it!4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had an incredible dinnerWe had an incredible dinner here. We sat outside in a picturesque setting, with palm trees, and a beautiful secret garden adjacent to our table.
The food was wonderful. I had the grilled romaine salad (terrific) and the fish of the day (halibut with tomatoes & golden raisins) Amazing.
Even better, we just happened to be there on the third Thursday of the month, and there was live music!4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMTremendous food and ambiance.Tremendous food and ambiance. We will be back next time in Phoenix.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat an awesome restaurant!OutstandWhat an awesome restaurant!Outstanding dishes--trout appetizer, rice balls,& sweet potato planks;papparedelli & the halibut special. The halibut came on top of a red sauce that we all felt was overkill--the fish was so amazing and did not need the extra flavor. We also ordered the smashed potatoes(nothing special& the carrots, wonderful but not enough of them, plus a little pricey for what was served. It is a lovely building, imagine art deco combined with spanish overtones! We sat inside since it was still a little chilly to sit on the patio, but all agreed that we would enjoy it on another visit. And the service? Our waitress couldn't have been more pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable.Only negative was the overly loud jarring music.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThere was a very large partyThere was a very large party ahead of us and as a consequence it took a VERY LONG TIME for our food to arrive. Otherwise we had a great time & a great meal.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat serviceDelicious food but a little pricey. Well presented great service.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was fantastic. The menu is always new, fresh, delicious and well executed, the setting is unique with one of the best patios in town and our service is always impeccable.
Last night was no exception. The pork belly appetizer was decadent and amazing, my pasta was perfectly done and so fresh, and we even (somehow) found room to order every dessert on the menu- delicious!
It is so nice to have a local restaurant that is so consistently excellent to count on for a wonderful night out. I love sharing this local gem with friends.
Thank you House at Secret Garden for another great night, we will be back soon!3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic in every way! LovedFantastic in every way! Loved our server extraordinaire Kara!3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat overall and loved theGreat overall and loved the service (we had Megan as our server). It was a good place for a birthday special event. The only downside I saw was the price to portion size ratio. For the price of each entree I would have liked to see somewhat larger portions.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMI had a great dinner at TheI had a great dinner at The House at Secret Garden with my husband. The food, service and ambiance of the patio were all amazing. Make sure to try the risotto balls, the grilled romaine salad and the aged new york strip. I can't wait to return for dinner soon!3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMBest in South Phoenix! We didn't know what to expect and were amazed by the garden, the food, the atmosphere ... The music, the flowers! We loved it and we'll be back!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had an excellent diningWe had an excellent dining experience on this occasion. As always the food and service were very good. On this beautiful spring night, we were seated under the big carob tree behind the patio. It was like our own private dining room under the magnificent lighted tree and everyone in our group just loved it. Thank you!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experience Highly RecommendMy husband and I had heard/read about The House at Secret Garden for a few months and finally got around to checking it out. We were very pleasantly surprised by not only the huge outdoor patio (remeniscent of Old Town Tortilla Factory,Scottsdale) but also the amazing house and history. We sat at the bar (small but adequate) because there were no outdoor tables available and we like sitting at the bar. It turned out to be an amazing experience. The bartender Tiffany was terrific and the manager Stephanie just seemed to have everything dialed in. Drinks were unique and delicious, wine list was small but pleasant and the food was excellent.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMHeard about this place fromHeard about this place from several different sources.......was so excited to make it there as a special evening with friends that visited from out of town. The service was exceptional........the outdoor patio is beautiful........the food, however was a bit of a disapointment. I ordered the chicken - which I saw come out of the kitchen for several other tables. When it got to our table (another person from our group ordered it as well) there was barely any chicken and a whole lot more potatoes on our plate. I also found the wine list quite limited, especially by the glass.
I would consider giving it another try, because it is a special place......I only hope the food improves greatly.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMHidden Gem in the ValleyGreat place for great tasting food and an awesome atmosphere. The patio is fantastic and the service is top notch.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was overwhelminglyThe food was overwhelmingly salty. Every dish was way over salted. Almost uneatable.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMFriends from ny love the houseGreat time with my wife and friends from New York. Patio was full (next time I know to request) but the ambiance and craftsmanship of the interior of the restaurant is stunning. I read a past review on the grits being salty (not in my opinion) loaded with flavor starting with the sweetness of the corn and the salty ness of the pancetta followed by a bite of spice in the end that pairs perfectly with the creamy grits. I also had the beet and goat cheese salad with black Mesa ranch goat cheese that was delicious.3/8/2013 12:00:00 AM
