  • "We have eaten there before and enjoyed it, but this time was terrible. The cream of crab soups came out cold, the filet mignons were inedible the were so incredibly salty and the crab cake tasted terrible! If that had been my first experience, I would not go back! Since I know they are capable of better, I will."

  • "This OC's best. You will enjoy the ambience, the view, and the service."

  • "We enjoyed a late dinner this Saturday with good friends and it was nice to try something different...it had been years since we had visited the Hobbit. It's a beautiful space and everyone looked to be having a fabulous time, lots of big groups. Unfortunately that made the noise level pretty high. The servers were attentive, the food was delicious and we will definately return. We may try an earllier visit to take advantage of the gorgeous view."

  • "The name makes me think of something a little hokey - but the Hobbit has a contemporary, lively atmosphere. What's in a name anyway? The setting was sleek and scenic. The service and food were excellent. We had a wonderful evening."

  • "I would stay away from the mix drinks stick to wine or beer. When ordering Meat dishes specify the doneness desired as they seem to overcook things. also be aware of a loose hand with the salt if you have a problem with salt make sure you say something."

  • "We had a great time at the Hobbitt on Monday. Our group of 7 enjoyed great service and delicious food. The kitchen was kind enough to turn the lamb chop app into an entree and 3 of us got the lamb. So delicious! Definitely a good spot for a group as they take reservations and very good care of you."

  • "Had a really nice dinner here. The view is lovely and the restaurant is as well. Our food was very good - calamari a bit sweet but a unique preparation that we appreciated. The duck was very good as was the mahi. The service, although prompt, was rather disinterested - both the server as well as the manager who we called over to resolve a minor issue. He resolved the issue quickly and to our satisfaction but neither he nor the server were friendly. They did their job, period. We would go again but would prefer more engaged and customer friendly service."

  • "Although the sun was beating down on us, the spectacular sunset was way more memorable. Food could have been a bit better. Filet mignon was not cooked to order but was still good. Short ribs were excellent. Skipped the seafood this visit just because we weren't in the mood for it. Salads were excellent also."

  • "We chose the Hobbit to celebrate a friend's birthday. It was an absolutely wonderful evening and we look forward to returning!"

  • "A little beyond the "city" of Rivendell you will find treasure with the Hobbit. This modern themed restaurant has JRR Tolkien esque decore and an amazing sunset view available during the dinner hour. The food is excellent from the signature Hobbit rum punch to the chefs daily specials. Even the desserts look amazing and with portion sizes large enough to satisfy a dragon."

  • "I wish they had more LOTR decor and references, because this restaurant's name IS supposed to be related to LOTR! It's got a great view of the bayside of OC, and the food is relatively diverse (they have both steak and seafood instead of just one type of food). It's a very classy place, but not the uptight/upscale kind of place where you won't feel comfortable while eating. The service is attentive, but not overly so; ambience is relaxing and calm."

  • "Mary's Delight is a must have - consistently good. Cheesecake of the week (our week was Peanutbutter) was amazing. Seafood dishes/dinner specials are usually good. I just ordered the wrong entree this trip."

  • "Another lovely dinner. Long time patrons even when it was operating at the old location. Enjoyed the bay view from the upper area. Large groups were loud but we still had a nice time together. Service was efficient and pleasant. Cream of crab soup was delicious and plentiful! Short ribs were tasty!! Veal pistachio always a favorite. Miss the old Hobbit catch option as well the small salad and house dressing with meals. Appreciate the ability to make reservations since not many places in OC do. Will return."

  • "Everything from the initial greeting, to our server, to the food, to the door being opened was delightful with one exception. The crab soup on the menu, while fabulous in texture and just right with the lumps of real crab, was extremely salty-so much so that I couldn't truly enjoy eating it. Other than that small complaint, everything else about the Hobbit was inviting, and I would definitely recommend a visit to this little hidden treasure."

  • "Although the cream of crab soup of very bad, the rest of the meal was fantastic. Appetizers, main course and desserts were top notch! Marie, our server, was an absolute joy. Marie made sure our dining experience was second to none, and coulkd not have appologized more for the poor batch of cream of crab soup."

  • "We keep returning to the hobbit each year on our anniversary. The food is excellent as it should be for this caliber of a restaurant. Prices are in line with many other fine dining establishments in the area. Their famous coconut cake is back on the menu thank goodness! We looked forward to that each year and then one year they stopped it due to the desert caterer retiring. Ugh! Crab cakes are awesome. I ordered the filet topped with crab imperial that was delicious. I have no complaints about the place at all and highly recommend it to anyone wanting a nice place with great food and an awesome view of the bay and sunset. I like that the Hobbit is upscale."

  • "My wife and I hosted a dinner party for friends and family in Westminster, Maryland. We had a great time. Now it was time to come to the beach and celebrate ourselves. The Hobbit could not have been more accomodating. The table was great, the Happy Anniversary placard was a nice touch, the food and service was great and we left feeling very happy that we chose the Hobbit! Thanks to all."

  • "Everything is absolutely delicious. My family and I went twice in one week when we were on vacation in ocean city. It is well worth the money. We had the filet, veal, and pork chop. All flawless dishes. And the dessert, Mary's delight, is to die for. The view of the bay is calming as you dine and the service staff are attentive and friendly. We have definitely found our favorite spot in ocean city!!!"

  • "great view of water and marshy grasses, about three-quarters way around. Lovely interior has feel of "outside" due to wrap around windows.Hobbitt has a "special" feel to it; not your typical neighborhood restaurant. Service was good and fresh swordfish was to die for."

  • "I know The Hobbit has been around for quite some time, but I had recently heard of it from friend who spends the summer at the beach. I took my husband to dinner for his birthday while we were on romantic weekend getaway. The view and food were just amazing. The service was outstanding. I recommend going around sunset because the view of it is absolutely beautiful."

  • "This was our first time going to The Hobbit and what a surprise! The food is incredible, the view is beautiful, and the staff was very attentive and friendly. We first were seated on the main floor and I guess a table opened up on the second level. A manager came over to us and asked if we wanted to move to the second level. he said it was his favorite spot to set, so we agreed. From this raised (second level) table you have the best views and it really made us feel special. THANK YOU! We can't wait to go back."

  • "My husband and I love coming to the Hobbit we were OC locals for nearly 20+ years and have since moved away but we make sure to stop there for dinner in the Summer at least once. The food is always amazing, the views of the bay are great and the service is top notch. The Hobbit has a special meaning to us besides just a great meal, that's were he proposed! We love it and will defiantly keep coming back!"

  • "Great ambiance, food is nicely prepared and presented. Still family operated, so there is much personal attention by staff. A bit pricey, but well worth it for occasions. Only wish it were still open in the off season, like it used to be."

  • "If you're looking for a nice evening of fine dining with a great view, you've come to the right place. The staff were nothing but polite and helpful to my date and me. The food was excellent, as well as the atmosphere. I would recommend The Hobbit to anyone who doesn't mind sacrificing a little more money for a top quality evening."

  • "My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at The Hobbit last night. Very quiet on a Tuesday night but perfect for our celebration. The windows looking out on the bay are spectacular so be sure to go for sunset. Very attentive staff. We both started with the Lollipop Lampchop app and agreed it was probably the best we've had. My husband had the duck breast and I had the salmon encrusted with basil and lemon. Both delicious. Very generous portions. I may have two apps next time so I'll have room for dessert. "

  • "The HOBBITT RESTAURANT is our first choice for the complete dining experience in Ocean City, MD. The atmosphere is friendly, relaxed and welcoming, service is good, food is great and the view is beautiful. More importantly, it is always consistent. We have never had a bad dining experience there. What more can you ask of any restaurant? "

  • "My wife (expecting our first child) and I have been there before, but when I made the reservation I wrote in the optional "description" box that I was taking her there as part of her first mother's day and that we couldn't wait to go. They had specially reserved the best seat in the house, as we watched a beautiful sunset. I didn't make a big deal or ask for it, or try to bribe anyone... the exceptionally nice staff did this out of the goodness of their own hearts. I'm a simple man, who has never been privy to such acts of kindness, was taken back and very grateful for what they did for us. Having said that, I didn't want to leave out that the food was amazing and the porch pounder (drink) that the waitress recommended was fantastic. Enjoy!"

  • "The most appetizing appetizer - the Crab Stack - is back on the Hobbit's menu. Jumbo lump crab, guacamole, tomatoes, and (I think) chipotle crema with house made tortilla wedges! Best part of the meal! Very convivial bartenders. And of course the spectacular bay view."

  • "Beautiful sunset, the wait staff was very good and meal was good. Cream of crab was some of the best i've had and only downfall was the New York strip, it was a little tough. Would definitely come back."
