The Hive at 21cOutstanding in every regardFrom the first cocktail and appetizer, our meal can only be
expressed as outstanding . I had the spring pea soup and the ribeye
as my entree. My friends had the Panisse and Pork Chop with braised
greens. All ingredients were so fresh and cooked perfectly.
Dessert was pistachio ice cream ( mousse like) and the chocolate custard
with carmelized bananas, pecans , and banana ice cream.
We even came back for brunch the next day! Thanks to server, Tracy, for dinner, and

They did not have the wine I was looking for, but when I told the wine manager that we wanted a light red wine he suggested a perfect Girard Petite Sirah from Napa Valley.

The menu was eclectic and interesting. My meal was enjoyable. We had the pimento cheese, pork chop and scallops, and all were prepared well. The 5 & Dime cocktail was a unique Bourbon cocktail that was surprisingly refreshing. We were in and out almost too quickly, as our appetizer and main courses arrived all at once, but the staff was very apologetic and we were there after a long day of business meetings, so we didn't mind finishing early. The hotel is amazing and the atmosphere and décor of the restaurant is also very exceptional. The service was terrific and the food was prepared and served remarkably fast.
The only complaint we would offer is that the plates we tasted, while high-quality, were quite bland in their flavor profiles. The offerings on the menu appear designed to have an "Ozark/southern" connection, which is fine, but the ingredients and overall taste experience left us underwhelmed for such a high-profile, high-expectation ($) place. The cocktails are inventive, the wine list is beautifully built, the food is outstanding and the service is wonderful. The Hive bills itself as refined country cooking. I have seen this concept many times--and never done quite right. The Hive has absolutely nailed it. This was the best meal I have had since I moved back to Arkansas from San Francisco two years ago. I had skate which seemed made out of frozen fish, was salty and begged for some sort of a sauce. I had to ask for lemon so I could help the dish. Dessert, strawberry shortcake came with a dry biscuit that tasted floury, the chantilly cream served with it was a very skimpy portion. We also had breakfast there which was better. There, I think a restaurant of this caliber, should be ale to offer croissants for breakfast.
