The Heathman Restaurant
The dishes were excellent,The dishes were excellent, with great attention paid to each component with flavors blending perfectly. Flawless service. Awesome dining experience.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMChocolate waffles...oh my!My husband had the chocolate waffles with a side of bacon and absolutely loved them..this is very unusual..he is the ultimate "Mikey"!6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMalways a great placeWe went to take advantage of the June dining event; the meal was excellent, served well. The atmosphere is just fine. This is one of our favorite places in Portland and celebrate birthdays, holidays and special events. We have never been disappointed. On average we dine here 4 to 6 times a year.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing Dining Experience!Best meal we had in Portland - both trips! Service was friendly, genuine, and attentive. Great overall experience - don't miss it!!6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMDad's birthday brunchWe were a group of 8 celebrating our dad's 79th birthday. The service was prompt, efficient and the food was excellent. Our only downside was the table we got. We were four to a side and it made conversing with the far end too difficult. A circle or smaller rectangle with one at each end would have been a better arrangement for us but there are limited tables at The Heathman. We will definitely be coming back.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWe ordered the lamb tongueWe ordered the lamb tongue and the pork cheek with scallops. The pork cheek was bland. Everything else was delicious. The service was slow, but the staff was very friendly.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMin for a concertWe came to the restaraunt for a concert next door and had a wonderful experience. Our food did take a little long to arrive, but it was busy. That was hard for my 7 year to wait, however. Otherwise, great.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMOur meals were not up to whatOur meals were not up to what the Heathman used to deliver5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGood but expensiveIt's no surprise that this restaurant has excellent food but the prices make it a special occasion restaurant for us. The prices were high and the amount of food provided slim. Even with a $10 off coupon our dinner for two came to almost $70 (and we ordered some of the least expensive items on the dinner menu.) Salads, starches such as potatoes, etc. are all extra. Also, their dinner menu changes daily. When I checked it one day the menu looked terrific, but on the night of our reservation the dinner menu, while varied, were not as appealing. Very convenient if you are attending the symphony next door, however.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat FoodPerfectly prepared, seasonal food in a comfortable and convenient setting. The service is almost always impeccable and friendly. Our recent lunch was the one exception we had regarding service, and there were probably reasons for it, but mostly I think it was our server.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner Before A ShowThe Heathman Restaurant is a great place to catch dinner before a show a the Schnitz or Performing Arts Center! Food is excellent, beautiful presentation, good wine list. Allow yourself time to enjoy the meal. Portions are not large, although delectable, so if you are feeling really hungry a starter with the entree is recommended. Can be noisy on show evenings. Even though it was a busy night, the food was served in a timely manner and the waiter made good recommendations to meet our time restraints.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day Well Done!Mother's Day can lead to some really bad restaurant food. Trying to serve hordes of "mother-won't-have-to-cook-today" families, many restaurants serve heaps of lukewarm buffet table entrees and aged dry pastries to quickly churn their tables. NOT SO at the Heathman. We had a lovely table in the quiet lobby dining room. The food was cooked to order and delicious. The service was impeccable. Well done!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day BrunchWent to the Mother's Day Brunch (not the buffet) and really enjoyed it. It was a bit loud (understandably) but everything was lovely. Not a huge selection but what there was was delicious.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMA fantastic place for Brunch!I took my Mother and the whole family here for Mother's Day Sunday brunch. The food was fantastic and the service was out of this world. Next year I have a feeling I will be here again for another great meal. I especially loved my Crab eggs Benedict and I know that everyone else in the family was happy with their own personal choices; the corned beef hash as well.
So, I give it a personal A and I suggest to anyone and everyone in the Portland area to try it if they haven't already.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMLovelyWe had a lovely dinner before the Bill Cosby show. Our server dealt very easily with some food intolerances we have. The food was fresh, excellently prepared, and delicious! The only complaint would be that tables are very close together which made private conversation very difficult.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMattentive service, great foodHad dinner at the Heathman with friend before an event at the theatre next door. The service was excellent and attentive. The food was very good. Highly recommended.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMPre and post symphonyHeathman is THE place to eat before the symphony, and wonderful spot to stop after for dessert. Food is excellent and a reasonable value but you will pay a good price for a quality restaurant.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a lovely breakfast onHad a lovely breakfast on Sunday with many family members in town. The food was terrific & the service was attentive. Everything we ate was delicious! My daughter was initially disappointed that they didn't have any croissants, but eagerly gobbled the Berliners that the waiter recommended. Loved our meal, and out of town family was impressed. We will be back!4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMA very enjoyable night. TryA very enjoyable night. Try the smoked chicken papardelle, and the baked Alaska. Mmmmn.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAlthough what we had was good,Although what we had was good, the menu was a little too limited for our taste. It was the hotel resturant so we decided to eat there upon arrival. We were tired from traveling and maybe needed to try it when we more in the mood for a food adventure. It was a little pricy we thought for what you got.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went to enjoy a weekendWe went to enjoy a weekend brunch with our kids and Grandson. Everything was great. Food was wonderful, as usual. Service was friendly and attentive. They even brought fruit for our little guy to nibble on before breakfast came! All in all - very nice experience.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMA Legend Still Sets the StandardI have dined at the Heathman Restaurant for years, but have been living abroad since 2006. I was recently in Portland on a visit and treated my extended family to brunch there on a Sunday. The food was flawless, the service was impeccable, and we all had a totally wonderful time. Their was not a misstep in the entire meal. I was so pleased to see that the same high quality has been maintained. What a totally lovely place to experience Portland dining at its very best.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's always fun and festiveIt's always fun and festive to have brunch at the Heathman. It's a family tradition!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMMenu is unusual with lotsMenu is unusual with lots of locally-sourced ingredients. Preparation is inconsistent sometimes, however. Onion soup had too much gloppy cheese, duck was modestly tough, but the steak, oysters, and Caesar salad were excellent.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMThe BEST customer service. The BEST customer service. Everyone was very attentive. They definately went above and beyond to make our vist exceptional. The Easter brunch was exceptional. And, everyone there may the day a very special holiday.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMAll three entrees were exceptionalAll three entrees were exceptional--lamb, Julia child's favorite egg dish and crab benedict. Already planning Mother's Day brunch there.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was very good, if smallFood was very good, if small in portion. Reasonably priced for quality and comparative value to other high end Portland restaurants. Good bar and excellent wine list, ranging from generally affordable to more than my gross paycheck. Very good service: present, but not intrusive. I wouldn't dine here on a regular basis, but I would certainly put it high on the list of places to go for a special occasion.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMService as exceptional, foodService as exceptional, food and presentation was excellent. It was a wonderful place to celebrate a special anniversary. We would recommend and return.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother great visit!Once again the Heathman Restaurant did an excellent job to make two foodies very happy at brunch. The Crab Benedict was outstanding! The service was attentive and friendly.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellentWe enjoyed our dinner at The Heathman Restaurant and will return. We were very happy with the noise level and very happy with the service. The food was excellent, as was the presentation. Thank you for a lovely evening.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMI don't often enjoy everyI don't often enjoy every last bite of a restaurant meal, but our dinner at the Heathman was a fantastic exception. The service, food and wine were perfect and the ambience just right. It is certainly a place I would recommend to others and hope I can enjoy another dinner there myself. Wonderful evening!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was great. TheEverything was great. The only downside is the pricey menu.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMNice to see game dishesWe had the new york steak and two of us tried the game dishes, the venison and the elk stew. The new york steak was very good and a nice large portion that we all had to taste. The venison was very good. I felt the elk stew was a bit bland. We tried the chistopher pinot noir and it was fine. The desserts were very good. Our waitor was very helpful and attentive. (My wife wrote him a cute note thanking him).1/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
