The Heathman Restaurant is located in the heart of downtown Portland and in the midst of the city’s theatre district.

Executive Chef Michael Stanton uses the very best in seafood, steaks, game, and more: from line caught salmon to organically raised lamb….from heirloom tomatoes to the best berries and fruit available in the Willamette Valley. The Heathman Restaurant takes advantage of local bay shrimp and Oregon razor clams when they are at the peak of season, they use mushrooms unearthed and brought to the kitchen early each morning. The menu aspires to be a constant expression of the vast diversity of ingredients that Oregon has to offer.


The extensive and award winning wine list showcases the best of the Willamette Valley, Southern Oregon, Washington and the rest of the Pacific North West, as well as some of the best wines of Burgundy, Bordeaux, and all the classic New and Old World wine regions.

  • "The Heathman staff Really made sure we were treated like royalty for our 20th Anniversary! A private feeling window seat, & excellent service, followed by true chef quality meals. A special dessert was presented in honor of our special occasion! As we left to go to our Steely Dan concert next door, Katherine, the nice lady who originally welcomed us & guided us to our table, upon seeing Mark taking a pix of me, came outside calling for " oh Anniversary couple", volunteered to take a photo of the 2 of us in front of the lit up markee. How nice!!!"

  • "This was our second visit to The Heathman. We were pleased with most of our food selections. The onion soup was ordered. The soup itself was tasty, but there was entirely too much stringy cheese atop the soup, and a salad was substituted. Appetizers were over-priced. Drinks were also over-priced. Desserts were reasonably priced. Our watier was very attentive without being overly so. He had a sixth sense on what our next request may be."

  • "An outstanding experience. Best wine list we've seen in PDX and food was absolutely excellent. The tuna tartare offered as a chef's treat at the very beginning was worthy of a main course. We tend toward fish and appreciate when the fish are not overcooked. All the fish we had were cooked to perfection. A review of the Heathman? Couldn't do it justice."

  • "I used to LOVE Trellis and went there any time I was in the mood for a wonderful meal and dining experience. Fabulous farm to table food. But sadly I've gotten bored with the menu that is basically the same since they opened years ago. I've tried everything and tired of it all. It's off my list until the chef gets his creative juices flowing and changes the menu. If you've never been it's definitely worth it."

  • "I have been a longtime lover of the The Heathman Restaurant as well as their bar. I had lunch their the other day and it has slipped. I am guessing it is because of the purchase of it by Landry's who is now operating it. With the purchase of McCormick & Schmick's, Landry's took over not only The Heathman but Jake's as well. Jake's Grill has never been the same. Now, sadly, The Heathman is in decline. I was also in the bar over last weekend, a bar which used to be stellar in my view, holding its own in the Portland cocktail scene. Our waitress had never heard of a Negroni. I ordered the Bijou which used to be on their menu and that wasn't known either. As a classic martini I was surprised to have it served in a rocks glass. Very sad."

Presentation was exquisite and the preparation was delicious with each dish having a unique twist. Great service - server also had a terrific sense of humor."

  • "Three out of four were happy in our party with the meal. Mine was just ok. What I would have liked is more healthy options for brunch or a vegie quiche or veggie omelette. I am not a meat eater and wasn't interested in the crab omelette. My vegan daughter got a tofu scramble ( not on the brunch menu that day) and that is probably what I should've ordered. I got the Belgian waffle, and it was ok."

  • "We went to the Heathman before the PGMC concert. While I have been there for lunch and brunch (both good) this was my first dinner outing. The food was slow and we had to flag down the server multiple times. Ultimately, we had to cancel some of our food as we were not going to be able to finish in time to get the show. To spend $150 for essentially a gobbled down dinner was not right."

They did accomodate us and let us order early, but I think they need to make this clear online and when making reservations. In addition our server was very short about it and not accomodating. "

  • "I love going to the Heathman for dinner. The staff is so attentive and pleasant and the food is superb, lots of great choices. The fish is always cooked just the way I like it; not raw, not baked to a frazzle, just right. Desserts often have seasonal fruit; I had a rhubarb galette the other day that was terrific. Also the hotel is a great place to wait for your dinner companions; it has a great reading area with books and comfortable chairs as well as a lovely happy hour lounge with a fireplace and deep armchairs. Also you can get a great happy hour meal, good prices, lots of foodie choices, if you don't want to eat in the dining room. It's a must choice if you are going to the symphony; it's right next door!"

My husbands scallops were were tender and tasty. Just regret that we had not planned enough time for desert, and we saw many tempting items."
