The Haven serves the best hamburger in the Boston area. The homemade ketchup alone is worth the visit. The Fish and Chips is excellent. Portions are generous. Sampled Haggis for the first time in 40 years. The Scottish beer is wonderful. Great place to bring a visitor to the Boston area who has even the slightest of Scottish (or Celtic) ancestry.

We had reservations for 830pm and had to wait for our table. Not that big of a deal, but the wait for the food was way too long. It's was also very loud. We've been on a week night and it was much better.

We go to the Haven a lot; ambience has never really been its thing (until they get some nicer chairs). Love the beer list. I got the sasitch and mash as I often do, and this time the mash part was a bit thin; it usually has more texture and was mostly potato this time. I hope that this was a temporary thing and not a recipe change.

Took a friend of Scottish heritage for her birthday and what a blast! Great beer, the owner was friendly and welcoming, running around in his Kilt. Karen our server was awesome and Elias on the bagpipes was a treasure beyond measure. The Scotch deviled eggs were to die for, chicken sausage, fruit sausage and fish suppers - there were 5 of us and we all shared - were sooooo good. Such a great experience. We'll be back and so will my friend and her entire family!

The only Scottish pub/restaurant in greater Boston. Locally sourced, authentically Scottish homemade fare. Omnipresent energetic and involved owner with a great accent. Always crowded, always excellent food. The only issue the last time we've been was a somewhat overworked order-taker. But that's the only time that's happened of the 12-15 times we've been.

I was in charge of setting up a staff meeting for a small local business. I chose The Haven because it came highly recommended by clients. I made a reservation and asked to be put in a corner somewhere so we could talk about business and not disturb other diners. The staff at The Haven set us up beautifully in the side room. We had a nice big table on which we had an amazing lunch! Something for everyone! Very tasty salads, fish sandwiches, and possibly the best burger in JP. Their fries are chunks of potato with homemade ketchup! The drinks served in mason jars are a delight. All in all, I am going back soon! The service was perfect.

How can you rate a restaurant that serves Scottish food. Frugally you might say? Well, The Haven is not frugal, it's a total delight. The food is Scottish for sure, but whereas they do dabble in other areas, they keep true to their Scottish roots. The beer selection is wonderful. I've visited only twice (so far) and had the same waitress both times. She was a gem and my brother and I were shocked that despite a gap of months between our two visits, she remembered us, and (we believe) in a good way. Every staff member we met was so pleasant we felt at home. Worth the drive from the South Shore on special occasions, and maybe otherwise. The restaurant is not big, it's small, but damn cozy. Not a feeling of cramped; intimate isn't a bad word.

I had a good time a The Haven. We sat at the bar and enjoyed the company of the friendly bartender and other customers. Being a beer guy, I was happy to sample the Scottish-heavy selection of bottled beer from overseas and I found a couple that I really like. The bar area is very small, maybe 8 seats. My friend loved the haggis (it's an acquired taste that I haven't acquired yet). I order the Lamb Vindaloo. It was a nice dish, with a good amount of curry heat. However, for $17 it was a small portion and I was still hungry when we left. I'll be back, though. It's a cool place to hang out in JP.

We took my boyfriend's cousin there and he enjoyed how big his beef kebob was because he is used to the small ones he usually gets. The chicken was hot and the rumble thump (or whatever the mass of potato, cabbage, and onion was) was delicious with it. We also liked the smoked fish appetizer and the special salad. This was a memorable experience and glad we chose this location.

We ate at the Haven on a Saturday night and had a good meal. The hostess was pleasant and our server was great. The drinks were tasty and the atmosphere was cool. The deviled eggs were great. The main problem I had was with the lack of spice in the food, not exotic spice, though the lamb vindaloo could have used a little more punch, but salt and pepper. I've had the mushy peas before and they were excellent, surprisingly, they are, after all, peas. The burger was excellent and seems unchanged, but the rest of our dishes each lacked something, from the flatness of the ketchup, to the lack of flavor of the fries. We'll be back, for sure, but I think we'll stick to the items we know are some of our favorites.

The Haven is a cozy, lovely and lovely local pub. It always has grey food, seasonal specials and a fun atmosphere. Wish they had another vegetarian entree or two (or a veggie burger!) but we always manage to eat well here. We come on our own for a quick bite as often as we bring friends for a night out. So glad it's here in JP!

We had great service and I really liked the ambiance of the place. It was one of the worst meals I have ever had. The menu looked interesting at first but the carrot soup was weirdly spiced and not worth eating (thank you to the waitress who took it off our bill), the chips were bland and undercooked, and the kale was gritty. We both left over half our meals uneaten. Go for a drink and definitely skip the food.

I love the ambiance of the Haven and in general the food is very good. The service is always slow, but the servers are very friendly. The dinner was excellent, but I think they forgot about the dessert because it took 30 minutes to serve it and the cobbler was very burnt. The server did take the cobbler off the bill.

Met by a smiling greeter and the owner, who were just emptying the restaurant from a book signing event, my guest (for her 82nd birthday!) and I were promptly seated in a customary, comfortable spot, where we received exceedingly, courteous , friendly service. After great dinners (the salmon was spectacular), followed by a superb dessert, we were again courteously given friendly good-byes by the wait staff and the owner....but this is a usual at The Haven, indeed a "neighborhood gem," with a menu to satisfy multi-tastes!
