We weren't sure what to expect, but surprisingly happy with everything overall! The entrance does not allow for a smooth transition for people entering the restaurant and at first things seem very chaotic. We had a drink at the bar which we thoroughly enjoyed and after about 15 minutes, we were seated at our table downstairs. For starters, we had the Wild Mushroom toast which was yummy and then we split a mixed green salad …. also very tasty! After this, I had the Chicken Roulade and my boyfriend had the fish special… both were delicious. Our server was really nice and although the place was extremely busy, everything was really enjoyable!

I would go back! In our group, 2 had the Bronzino and it was well done (a few bones); 2 of us had multiple appetizers and were well satisfied. Happy hour included oysters for only $1.00; I had 18!parking can be a little difficult but I lucked out. Enjoy!

I was pleasantly surprised. The seared tuna salad on arugula with raspberry vinaigrette was a bright combination of flavors! The service was attentive, the downstairs room attractive and comfortable.

t to The Hattery didn't disappoint. Great scene, interesting decor. The Staff is excellent, evryone pitches in cheerfully. Saw the Manager bringing entrees , evryone buses and brings drinks. Food is inventive and well presented with many price points. Great beer selection. Enjoyed the Golden Beet Terrine and Chipotle Shrimp tacos.

Food was great...service was excellent. I went with a friend on Thursday night and took my husband back on Friday night. Both nights, the service was great. Both waiters were friendly, helpful, engaged, and timely. I had the pasta special the first night and the salmon the second night. Both dishes were flavorful and cooked to perfection. I had the proscuitto flatbread appetizer both nights...very good. I'm a little worried about giving it such a great review. I'm hoping I can get a table in the Fall when everyone comes home from the beach and discovers this gem : ).

  • Great place for Breakfast

Doylestown has extremely few (that is, none) places for a business breakfast. The Hattery fills that void. My pancakes were light and tasty; my guest enjoyed his yogurt, topped with granola and fresh fruit. They need to offer some pastries -- at least some bagels and fresh fruit --during the week. Perhaps those types of choices will be added to the menu as more people patronize the restaurant for breakfast. Different choices of coffee would be nice --they serve a fairly strong roast and not everyone, including me, can drink that. They need to show correct breakfast prices on their website menu. Prices on our check were quite a bit less than shown on the webstie -- thei higher prices on the website might we scaring people away.

Thus rstaurant had good reviews in a local paper and we rushed to it for a visit. There were a couple of items on the dinner menu that were most intereesting, an appetizer with grilled octa puss and a main course Bronsino. But the noise was so great, we could not hear ourselves talk. So we tried a second time and asked for a quiet table and we were gicven one that should have been quiet downstrais but the bar in that area was bigger and louder than the one upstairs. Maybe improvements could be made here but for a restaurant with the pretensions that this one has, it needs more work than its layout will allow, so we will not be returning.

Went out with friends to the supposedly new hotspot. Seated upstairs in which could only be described as a luncheonette with crystal chandeliers. Service was amateurish and overly "sharing". Some of the food was tasty although no one in our party raved about any one thing. It was hard to get over the lack of atmosphere given the prices of the food. Not worth a special trip to Doylestown.

First visit to new eatery in a old landmark, the Doylestown Inn , that's seen hard times lately. Restaurant heading in the right direction with live jazz duet downstairs and a varied menu. This place overreaches with a raw bar platter that was simply overpriced and under-portioned. Waitstaff still getting used to the service and menu. Burger was solid with crispy fries. Salmon entree wonderfully prepared, but underseasoned slightly. Beet terrine sweet and creative for a starter. Cocktails were honest pours and flavorful mixes. Desserts unremarkable. This place will gain momentum once the chef adjusts the menu and the waitstaff becomes experienced.

Love Doylestown and read about this new restaurant on a local blog so it was next on the list to try for our monthly dining outing with my sister/husband. The interior was really amazing and the atmosphere really relaxed. There was a nice variety to the menu. We tried the chips with blue cheese sauce (amazing!) and a flatbread that was also delicious with very lean prosciutto. Sister and I had fish (salmon and branzino) and both were good sized portions and very flavorful. Husbands had a chicken dish and a burger. Everything was wonderful! Reasonably priced menu and drinks.

This new restaurant in a casual space inside the Doylestown Inn offers a creative menu and well-prepared food (at almost Manhattan prices). Be ready for uncushioned seats and a bit of noise. But this place has the charm and atmosphere that the Victorian borough of Doylestown is becoming known for.

We gave The Hattery a try while still on a food high immediately after seeing the movie "Chef" and we weren't disappointed. The attractive bi-level restaurant with two bars pays homage to the building's roots. Exposed bricks, an eclectic collection of light fixtures and mirrors, and quotes written on chalkboards add to the visual interest. We opted for a lighter meal -- the golden beet terrine with red quinoa starter and chipotle shrimp tacos for me, and a caesar salad and deluxe burger for my husband -- and enjoyed every bite. Special requests were fulfilled and my only quibble is that my second course was served before my starter dish had been removed. We're looking forward to trying more of the appealing menu!

  • Great place but strange menu

Loved the atmosphere, great service, good beer list (including a Stone IPA special that night), but a strange menu, at least for me. Difficult to find something that appealed to me. The golden beet terrine and chicken roulade were both very good but I'm not sure what else I would get on a repeat visit. My wife, who loves fish, ordered the steam skate because she'd never had skate before and the way it was prepared sounded interesting; however, as she ate it she said now she knows why she never sees skate on other menus. We love that it serves late (we had a 9:45 reservation) and absolutely loved the ambiance. It's a place I'd like to return soon - except I'm not sure what I'd order from that menu.

Party of 4 and we tried a variety of items. Mussels were excellent! Chicken Roulade and Veggie Bimembop were devoured. Grilled Octopus was a favorite and the Scottish Salmon Tartare was raved about. A tad loud in the lower level, service was great. Really cool bar area - beautifully done and a welcome addition to the Doylestown dining scene.

Not a great first impression unfortunately. Food was very bland and small portions. Pancakes were chewy, potatoes not cooked through, toast was cold and no butter or jam served with it. Will try again for dinner...maybe breakfast isn't their strong point.

The ambiance is awesome but they seemed to miss the boat on food. The waitstaff was terrific but we tried almost every appetizer, salad and mussels - our favorite being the octopus all others things we tried just mediocre. The beer selection and wine along with the two great bars will make us go back but definitely not racing back for the food.

Very nice decor. Only seemed to be one waitress which made everything slow. Food was delivered to the wrong table several times. Very good crowd and nice atmosphere. We came for lunch and were not very impressed with the lunch menu, but we looked at the dinner menu and will definitely give it another try at dinner. Good diverse wine, beer and cocktail menu.
