A word from The Hancock Inn
Enjoy the special setting and atmosphere that over 200 years of service has created at The Hancock Inn. Since 1789, the Hancock Inn has developed a reputation for outstanding food and hospitality. Those traditions are alive and well today supported by Executive Chef Rob Grant, whose kitchen features seasonally inspired comfort foods and the Inn"s perennial favorite, Shaker Cranberry Pot Roast, and in the front of the house by owners Jarvis and Marcia Coffin and an experienced staff.
Dinner is served in the Inn's colonial main dining room or the cozy Tavern, both with fireplaces, and a small private dining room is available for parties of six to ten. Full bar service, an approachable wine list and a nice selection of bottled beers compliment the dinner service at The Hancock Inn.
Come relax and enjoy dinner in the "Currier & Ives" corner of New Hampshire Or consider spending the night as well.

We finally got to a Sunday dinner and it was worth it..as always, the owners greeted us as old friends..they called to make sure we understood that it was a special dinner (which we did know).... The service wonderful, the dinner great and sitting by the warm fireplace with snow outside made it a perfect night.

The hancock inn has been beautifully restored, and has a warm "old new england" feel. The owners are welcoming, and they have a great chef. Very creative menu, with some tried and true stalwarts, but with new additions all the time. The menu follows the seasons, and features many locally grown offerings. We eat there regularly, and are never disappointed...

Who would have thought that food this good was to be found in the middle of a sleepy old NH town? My favorites are the lamb burger and beet salad, but there are many dishes not to be missed and the menu changes seasonally. We are regulars and enjoy being known to the owners, but you are assured a warm reception if you are a first timer as well.

The Inn is historic and has all the charm you'd expect. The dining room is quiet, the service attentive, and the owners personally made sure each guest was happy with the experience. The Inn is in the beautiful, rural village of Hancock, and not far from lovely Norway Pond. A great little trip for those who don't live in the area.

My husband called the Inn yesterday to tell them what a wonderful experience we had on Thanksgiving day. They were very busy but handled it very well. We had added two to our party at the last minute and they were able to handle that as well. We will be going back and we will take others with us.

Finally tried this place after wanting to have dinner there for a long time. Most people know this is the oldest inn in NH. The town of Hancock is classic New England, and the surrounding area is scenic. When you walk up to the front porch, and enter the Inn, you get a feeling of walking back to another time long ago. The interior is clean, quaint, and well maintained. The dinning room is small, but tables are spread out nicely. The tavern room is very nice, with a good selection of bottled beer. I enjoyed the Magic Hat black IPA. the rack of lamb was good, but the chick pea cake was a bit dry, or needed some kind of sauce, so I thought. Crabcake app was awesome. Deserts, were great. I will be going back in the fall.

It was our first visit to the Hancock Inn, for our 28th anniversary, and we were not disappointed! The hosts were gracious, and our waiter, Tim, was very capable. The food - fabulous! We had the Cranberry Pot Roast and the Scottish Salmon and shared, both of us loved each one. And the brussels sprouts with pancetta - SO good! For dessert, the Sticky Toffee Pudding with Salted Caramel Bits, SO wonderful and rich (we split it and glad we did - really rich after the amazing meal but delightful)! We will be going back for sure.

Our dinner at the Hancock Inn was really wonderful. We've enjoyed the inn before as the owners and staff are helpful, friendly, and smart, AND the food is great. My husband and I have decided to reduce our carbohydrate consumption. Substitutions of vegetables for starch was make easily and gracefully at the Inn and the results were delicious. Our server had an extensive (almost encyclopedic) knowledge of the ingredients in our dishes. Next time, we'll request seating the tavern, our favorite room.

This inn is located in a quintessential New England town and everything about the inn is New England! The menu is a welcome delight, and as I live right in town, I am able to go as frequently as my pocketbook allows... The owners are engaging and professional. The wait-staff know their customer base really well, and it's simply a delight to have the Hancock Inn open under this new ownership. Hands down, the best CRAB CAKE I've ever tasted....EVER. A must have. Make a reservation..(just in case) and try the crab cakes....also, dessert? YUMMMMM!

Very nice ambience under new ownership. The food is good, some dishes very good if not stellar. It was very reassuring to this old Yankee to see a decent version of franks and beans on the menu, but I was told the burger was good as well as the duck breast. The chowder was good if a bit thick for my taste.Autumn salad also good. Creme brulee was so-so, but I find most restaurant desserts unimaginative. How about a state of the art apple pie that doesn't burn the roof of your mouth with cinnamon to hide the fact that flavorless apples were used (often a problem elsewhere). Overall, just what you want in a neighborhood tavern. One note: the server is nice but a bit overly familiar. Genuine warmth without being gushy is what is called for.
