  • " We celebrated our engagement at 7/28/2014 in "The Hamilton". I had been looking for the best place in DC Metropolitan area and found out that "The Hamilton" is really exceptional. Thank you for the congratulation desert you sent to our table. From that night you can consider us as "Regulars" Cyrus (703) 577 3472 boraz1@yahoo.com"

  • "Our server was friendly and made some excellent recommendations on a starter and lunch options, as well as drinks. Everyone loved their lunch. Definitely recommend!"

  • "To preface this, I held a private event at the Hamilton (Loft) last year for 40-50 people and it was a great experience. Food was delicious. I was also here about 2 weeks ago for the sushi happy hour, which was a great deal for half-off sushi. Not so with this Saturday. The food was bland, overpriced, and the portions were small. The linguine with clams was rubbery, the steak frites order was small, not served med. rare. The calamari was ok. We ordered 3 mixed drinks (Hamilton Mule, Green Thumb, and White Peach Sangria) and no one liked any of them. I sent my Mule back as it tasted like spiced club soda rather than actual Moscow Mule (and the waiter's reaction was not helpful)."

  • "We enjoyed the food at the Hamilton, but the first floor dining room is very loud due to it being surrounded by two separate bar areas. The one bar is partially open to the dining room and floods it with noise. The sushi was very good and the service was attentive."

  • "We have used the The Hamilton twice for business lunches. The service is fantastic and the menu is great! We will continue to use it for our lunch meetings."

  • "Something for everyone in this beautifully designed, waaay upscale saloon - from quiet private booths to a noisy neighborhood type bar scene- from a great burger to sushi that's as good as any in town! All with the impeccable service you expect from a Clyde's Group restaurant."

  • "I have eaten at the Hamilton before and had a positive experience. So I suggested my out of town guest meet me there. The staff was very friendly. But the service was really, really slow. The food arrived cold and a bit stale. Very disappointing."

  • "Our server was excellent in the beginning but then lacked of his duties. Dessert took 20 minutes. Great for Lunch but bring extra time...... Salad Entrée superb."

  • "We orderes diffrent diners: Sushi, lamb steak, ribeye steak, Mignon steak, all of it was very good og nice served plates. The first room is very noisy but there are quit og beautifull rooms behind."

  • "I've had a few client meetings here and like it because: - The lunch menu is large and generally quite good - Even when busy, the noise isn't overwhelming - It's quite well appointed, giving a slight upscale but unpretentious feel - The service is personable. The past two visits we've had very cheerful servers. Note - the space is absolutely massive. - Upside: Plenty of space between tables so we couldn't hear the conversations on either side of us - Downside: It doesn't feel particularly intimate, compared to many of DC's good business lunch spots. I'll keep going back to this one as long as the food stays good."

  • "Really bad service with mediocre food. Sushi was not bad, but the linguini with clams had a lot of sand. Many service mistakes made which made for a very frustrating meal. I would not recommend this restaurant. Not a friendly host experience."

  • "Hamilton is a great place for any occasion. Really interesting layout and super staff. Food was ok but the character of the resteraunt and staff made it a great experience. I'll be back!"

  • "Had a great time, and the service was awesome. Only caveat - medium rare steak was much more rare than expected."

  • "If you are looking for a good spot in downtown DC to meet a colleague for lunch, this is for you! The food is diverse, moderately priced and delicious! Service is prompt and unobtrusive. I've had lunches here with colleagues and we've always enjoyed ourselves! Well worth a visit!"

  • "Our waitress was rude we received vibes as if she did not want to wait on us, which was very annoying. She kept looking at us in a strange way--we did not like that. It took her too long to come back to our table. After our meal, she asked us if we wanted anything else, and we said, yes we would like to see the dessert menu, instead she brings the check. We told her again, that we would like to order dessert, then she brings the menu. We only ordered soup and salads, if this was a problem for her then that's her problem, you go to the restaurant to order what you want to eat! I have been to the Hamilton several times, but this is the first time I received this type of treatment."

  • "Great place for a quick business lunch, or even a dinner after work. The menu is sizable but after having nearly a dozen dishes there I can say that they have all been wonderfully prepared. Portion sizes are great for the price, which is such a rare find in DC (much less this area of downtown). A perfect balance of price, quantity, and quality. I also tried their sushi happy hour (3-6pm half price), and that was great as well. Please do save room for desert - you'll be happy you did."

  • "Took my daughter to the Hamilton after previous good experiences. Our service was slow. It took us almost 2 hours for just two of us to eat. My ribeye steak was a lousy piece of meat. It was charred on the outside and overdone. My daughter's salmon was overcooked and rubbery. The service was slow. We were left with empty drinks twice. Had it not been for the floor manager coming by, we may never have seen dessert."

  • "Went twice for lunch. The food is delicious. Interesting menu. They carry some different things than the usual restaurant. Love the lamb kofta and grass-fed burgers. Don't be in a hurry though because the service is slow."

  • "Had the opportunity to eat at The Hamilton three times. The bar area was very noisy. The first dining room was still noisy. The last time I ate in the back dining area and the noise level was loud but not overly so. The food was good but each time I thought the food was a bit salty. The service was very good even with a large group. I like that the menus are a little different each day. That was a surprise. The hanger steak was amazing."

  • "This is our second visit to Athens Hamilton, and we will definitely be back often. Great place!"

  • "We were leery at first because of its proximity to the White House and tendency for cities to have tourist traps so nearby. The food was fantastic, so much so that we ate there twice during our stay! The cheese plate was fantastic, as was the lobster roll (I had it both times!), and you MUST try the shakes (toasted marshmallow was amazing!). This is definitely a must dine in downtown DC!"

  • "We had family in town from CA, and they enjoyed the classic Washington feel of this restaurant. We had a super appetizer-shrimp tempura-and my scallops entree was delicious. Friendly and profficient service. I would definitely go back and recommend this place to others. The only downside is the noise level."

  • "During our most recent visit here for dinner, we had a wonderful experience between well-prepared food and one of the best waiters around. We were entertaining guests from out-of-town. That can be a challenge when one isn't certain about their food preferences. But there truly is something here for everyone, from the "picky" eater to the full-fledged foodie. The news levels vary throughout from loud to relatively quiet. We asked for a quiet spot, far in the back and were pleased with the way it worked out. Closer to the bar, it can get noisy at night, particularly on weekends. Fans of sushi will do well to order from the special sushi menu. There's a different vibe for lunch, which is all about business. Also good for tourists."

  • "I ordered the quiche which was nothing special and kind of small"

  • "I really like the Hamilton's food, and the location is great for me. But the server I had seemed overwhelmed. First, she gave the iced tea my guest ordered to someone else, failed to bring the sweetener, took 30 minutes to bring out our main courses (a pastrami sandwich and a bento box), and then disappeared without getting my guest soy sauce. The last time I went here (about a month ago), the service was too fast. This time it was much too slow. When I have to constantly look for the server to get me what I need, something is wrong."

  • "Easy, close, delicious, old wood comfortable...Love the softshell crab sandwiches and fries!"
    Dined on 7/6/2014
  • "We love the food and recommend this restaurant to all our friends, HOWEVER, the service Fri night was awful. We brought friends who had been wanting to come and eat at The Hamilton. The booth table we reserved and waited for - was 'seated' accidentally and they had to ask that group to get up and move. We were finally seated - and then a waiter NEVER SHOWED UP....to the point my husband got up and went to the Hostess Desk - and then one of hostesses ended up taking care of us all night. They need more waiters as the service here ALWAYS is spotty - normally the service is very slow."

  • "Our family had an enjoyable meal at the Hamiton. We were there at the end of the match between Costa Rica and The Netherlands. It was raucous in the bar but interesting. Dinner was very nice in the semi-private booth by the window."

  • "Ate there twice while visiting DC over the 4th of July. Very diverse menu. Reasonable prices. Very good beer and wine selection. Service was great the 1st visit and pretty good the 2nd. On both occasions the food was well prepared and very good."
    Dined on 7/5/2014
  • "The service was poor, and my party had to rely upon other servers and management to take care of us. The only thing saving this review is the quality of the food. The portion size is exceedingly generous and may induce fear and/or awe. The huge portions allowed us to serve some dishes family style. Another plus about the Hamilton is their music, which includes international acts that rarely visit the US. Good food, good music and a good atmosphere that is great for family, a group of friends or date night."

  • "The food isn't very inventive, yet it's quite satisfying for this spawn of the middle-brow Clyde's Group. We shared a softshell crab plate , then one of us had the house-cured pastrami nd the other the grits with shrimp. Our Open Table reservation on July 4th was honored immediately, while walk-ins had a 40-minute wait. Our server seemed friendly -- when we saw her. When we never got the bread that went to other tables, we had to flag a manager to ask for some. And when my wife's dish arrived with the grits way-cold, we had to flag another passing manager to have them heated."

  • "We were here 4th of July with group of 6. We waited 10 minutes past our reserved time to be seated. The food and service were great."

  • "We have dined at the Hamilton three times now and have enjoyed every visit. The food and service are excellent and we highly recommend it. It's nice to be able to order a good steak as well as sushi at the same place."

  • "The Hamilton is quite large, comprising several different rooms/themes and a nightclub below. This used to be a department store space, so that gives you an idea of the square footage. My husband attends events and lunches during his business week regularly, and really likes it. Our family dined there for the Fourth of July--and on a very busy tourism day/evening, they did a great job with pleasant service and great food. We were lucky to have reservations, as the wait otherwise would have been an hour or more!"
    Dined on 7/4/2014
  • "The Hamilton is a beautiful restaurant but they have managed to complicate the wait staff so much that the service is awful. The waitress basically takes your order and disappears while a slew of servers appear now and then with various parts of your order. Also, the booths along the outer edge of the room are FREEZING. So if you go, request a table not a booth."
