Love this place! Food was good, service was excellent, and prices moderate. Especially convenient before attending a live event at Hamilton Live. My friend really liked the sushi, and the grass-fed burger was to die for.

  • POOR Dinner Food Portions
    OpenTable Diner Since 2014
    Dined on 8/17/2014
I have eaten @ the Hamilton on several LUNCH occasions., after telling my spouse & two other family members about the Hamilton I was very embarrased when tiny amounts of food for dinner served in extremely large plates was put before us we ate around 10:00am that morning & nothing more until we got to the Hamilton in the PM., I would not recommend The Hamilton for Dinner only Lunch or Brunch. We were so hungry we asked for a second serving of Bread & Butter (it never came) I had ordered the sweet potatoe fries I had to wait for them to open a second batch. Michael our waiter was extremely nice we gave him $30.00 tip, we could have gone to Olive Gardens, rating the Dinner Portions as POOR feed guests not starve them.

We were a party of 5. All of us really enjoyed our dinner (2 had steak and 3 had seafood). The starter salads were great! We were in a private room so noise was not an issue. The waiter was very attentive and informative (he knew the menu well and could make informed receommendations). Would go back in a heartbeat. You can have a really nice dinner for a decent price.

Really good dinner. BLT soup and Baby Beet salad for starters, Scallops for wife and single crab cake for me and a shared chocolate cake with ice cream and chocolate sauce for desert. The best draft beer list I've seen lately. Very noisy, but that is a problem with most restaurants these days. I'd return and recommend to others.

    Dined on 8/16/2014
I didn't see anything in the reviews about this being a Farm to Table concept. They totally deliver. Although not everything on the menu is locally harvested the important items are and it makes all the difference in the world. The Sushi was really great and we got there just before 6pm so we were able to enjoy the special. Finally, their mixologist put together a drink menu which had something for everyone. Highly recommended. The next time I am in town I will be bringing friends back to The Hamilton.

We were greeted by an amazing host stand! They accommodated our special request (although we didn't take them up on it). The 2 gentlemen behind the stand were fabulously dressed and professional. Our server was beautiful also although our greet took around 5 minutes. Drinks which took 10ish minutes. But, it's Friday night around 10:30pm, we shouldn't be out that late anyway! Our food was stellar - high five to the b.o.h; thank you for throwing some love in to our late night meal. Simple treats like loaded tater tots and fried mac and cheese? What?! Awesome. Main course came out, was a bit lackluster (the ragu) but I should have ordered better. Nothing wrong with the dish. In between courses, long waits but awesome overall. Thank you!

Great location. Glad that they participated in Restaurant Week, motivating us to visit this gem. The overall experience was great!!! The food was excellent!!! Our waitress wasn't very friendly or helpful in recommending/suggesting meal option and forgot to bring the 2 sides I ordered. However, management frequented the dining area and filled in on her lackluster nature of waiting the table. Therefore, her bad service impacted us at a minimum. Great atmosphere and professional staff.

  • The Hamilton before a show
    OpenTable Diner Since 2012
    Dined on 8/9/2014
We had tickets to see a show @ Hamilton Live, so we made a dinner reservation at the restaurant upstairs. As usual, the food was very good. The scallops are MARVELOUS. This time, they had a little sand in one, and the corn puree was cold and coagulated, but not bothersome enough to send it back. The lobster rolls are a large protion (2) and the BLT was almost too much for a grown man to eat! All-in-all, this is an excellent restaurant and I highly recommend it!

    OpenTable Diner Since 2011

Had dinner here with my wife. Cool place, definitely had an upbeat DC feel. Our appetizers and drinks were great, but the entrees were a key down, as was the service. My wife's chicken was overcooked and dry. My steak was undercooked, and both meals took longer than expected. Our waiter was average at best, even getting the check seemed to take a while. For the reputation and price would have liked a better experience.

Though the food is to rave about, been twice and not disappointed with the food and will return to continue to explore...the service at lunch is spotty. They took our beverage order quickly upon seating but it took a long time to come for just iced tea and lemonade, in excess of 10 minutes. Food does take time to come out which is good for conversation (though loud in bar area so try for the restaurant proper if conversation is key) and they don't rush the meal. I've been twice now for lunch and both times I had to wait for refills on iced tea so be sure to take advantage of the water left at the table to supplement. Will go back as the food is great and plenty to explore on the menu but come prepared to wait and enjoy your company.

The inside of the restaurant is beautiful and has a great ambiance. Nothing on the menu really jumped out at us. I got the lunch sized gnocchi with mushrooms and eggplant. The sauce was great, but the gnocchi were sparse and it was heavy on the eggplant. Wouldn't recommend this dish if you're an avid gnocchi lover like I am. My niece got the lobster roll which was delicious. Not too heavy on the mayo and had great flavor. My mom ordered the lamb. It was cooked perfectly, but the vegetable it was served with had a "different" flavor and she couldn't eat it. Our server was either really busy, or our table wasn't a priority. Not the best service.

Recommended by friends who live in DC. I dined after a long day of touring. Close enough to walk from the Mall, and only a couple of blocks from a Metro Stop. The food was great! Reasonably priced for the area. I have eaten at the Hamilton with children, and with adult friends. The bar is very nice, and bustling. If you are looking for an intimate experience, there are booths that can be closed off. The booths cut down the noise level. If you have restless children, but want to enjoy a nice restaurant....the booth would be a good way to go. Nice Wine list, Great Service, Organic and Local ingredients. Crab Cakes are a must! Mac&Cheese topped with gold fish...a kid favorite.

The food was beyond delicious. The mac & cheese melted in my mouth. I chewed very slow because I wanted to savor each bite. The cosmopolitan was excellent too!
