Great for Brunch
Foodwise....one of the best
Brunches I've exprerienced in a long time. Service slower than it should be & noise level can be extreme."

Cute, neighborhood gem with a
great bar and ambiance. Food was good."
Dined on 2/28/2014
The service was pleasant. I loved
the ambiance. It was the food that was a disappointment. My husband, from Texas, asked if the ribs were beef ribs. Waiter said yes. Ribs came, were pork (thank God he's not kosher). Then when husband told waiter that they were pork, waiter insisted they were beef;-(. Unless they came from a calf, they were not beef. My fish special, the red snapper over risotto , may not have been snapper. It was pretty overdone and rubbery. The risotto was really greasy too. The mojito (sp) pitcher was 3/4 water. That was a buzz bummer as we all were looking forward to some minty kick from the mojo!! I really wanted this to be a hit as it's a fem of a location: right near some great friends place; but it wasn't;-("

Always enjoy the food and the view
is fun at Hamilton Inn. Be good to have some new different choices."

I've been to Hamilton Inn several
times, and it's always impossible to get a table for brunch without a reservation. I planned ahead and made a reservation, only to find they were behind that morning. However, they graciously gave us a round of drinks on the house and we were seated within 15 minutes. Food is good, service is nice. Great for brunch!"
Dined on 2/9/2014
We made a reservation about 2
hours before we showed up. When we got there it was obvious the staff was in the weeds, but everyone was keeping cool. Despite the reservation, we had to wait for our table (again, super busy), but the host bought us a round of drinks as an apology so we didn't mind one bit! We both got steak and eggs- the steak was delicious, but moms sunny side up eggs definitely trumped my scrambled. All in all we had a great time,."

Beautiful Restaurant, with old
world charm. Great wine list. I tried the Riesling, nice and dry the way I like it. We went for the Hudson restaurant week menu, the oysters were great, very fresh. I loved the Beef Duo and mashed potatoes with blue cheese! desert was a rich dark chocolate cake and ice-cream. The service was very efficient. I will definitely go again!"

A fine casual and convivial place
to grab a good meal in Jersey City. It's an interesting menu and the quality of the food is very high. One note - as the Hamilton Inn has a tile floor, they don't really need to crank the stereo system. I like a lively environment, but it's just a little too loud."
Dined on 1/10/2014
I went here with my family for
brunch on New Year's Day, and we couldn't have been happier with our choice. Highlights included delicious food, a varied menu, a respectable wine and cocktail list, and a friendly staff. I highly recommend the salad with sweet potato and blue cheese, the chilaquiles and chorizo, and the lamb burger--all were outstanding. The restaurant has a warm, welcoming feel, but it can get a bit tight and loud when crowded."
Dined on 1/1/2014
Great brunch..the flat bread
truffle pizza I had I would recommend. The table next to us had side of brussel sprouts which I don't like but the looked so good I had to give them a try. They were good...even for a person who doesn't like brussel sprouts. Bloody Mary was good. Greyhounds were weak! It is a keeper we will go back when we can sit outside. Parked on the street as we didn't know how to get to the garage at 12th and Jersey. We found a spot with no problem."
Dined on 11/17/2013
Hamilton Inn indeed has that
country B&B feel tucked in a corner of Jersey City... yet the food is first rate quality and creativity!"
Dined on 11/16/2013
The best brunch I've ever had. I
wanted to yell at everyone for not ordering the same thing as me. I had been here once before and it was equally amazing. This is my new favorite spot."
Dined on 11/3/2013
I went there for brunch. The food
was decent and the area was nice. We sat outside. Our only issue at all was that after the food came, the server never came back to check if anything else was needed. Otherwise we probably would have ordered more drinks. The free parking is a plus too!"
Dined on 9/28/2013
Great food, great prices and cozy
spot for any day of the week!"
Dined on 3/30/2013
1st time visit - had a great time.
Food was good, reasonably priced. Nice variety and place had a fun vibe. Will be returning again."
Dined on 9/3/2013
I always waffle between a
good/very good rating for the Hamilton Inn. We've been there four or five times and plan to return. The outdoor seating area is great. Our biggest complaint is the value--the food is very good but a bit over-priced. You expect more for what you pay--same goes for drinks. Their risotto special is excellent and worth noting. We've had salads, sandwiches, appetizers, and meals there and liked everything. Their brunch is also very good."
Dined on 8/25/2013
Food was excellent! Goat cheese
pierogies and fish tacos. But we had ordered for 2 dozen raw oysters but first got 8... weird. When we brought it up to our waiter, it was corrected immediately! Thank goodness for that! Another plus was half off on their drink specials! Very delicious and refreshing! Waiter was very friendly and attentive but there was always a different person bringing out our food. Which made service quick but confusing for us. Will definitely go again to try all of their other menu items."
Dined on 8/22/2013
Had brunch here for the first
time. I had the BBQ'd Eggs and my friend had the Huevos Rancheros...both were delicious! She had a bloody mary and I had the World's Best Brunch Cocktail (YUM!!). Service was good - had to waive down our waiter a couple times as he was more engaged in watching the soccer on the TV above the bar...but otherwise good experience. Recommend for brunch...coming back to try dinner!"

This is a huge favorite of ours!!
My husband and I enjoy this little neighborhood gem so much and it never lets us down. Always great food, great service and great atmosphere!"
Dined on 8/3/2013
Great place overall but service
could use improvement. The wait staff seems to be all over the place but never at your table when you need them they are friendly but slow! Food is awesome :)"
Dined on 8/4/2013
After researching the spots for
Hudson Resturant Week, reading reviews and checking menus, the Hamilton Inn seemed to be one of the best offerings. The lunch menu was diverse and creative, and the pirogues were amazing. Drink menu is also another great reason to go."
Dined on 8/1/2013
And who wouldn't want to have a
great spot within walking distance of their house? Someplace where they could pop in and grab a drink and a bite. Some place where everyone knows your name. I had sworn off this place having been consistently dissappointed. But decided to come back when I heard it was under new ownership. NOT TRUE according to our server!! But to be fair, the food was slightly better than I remember. The nachos were still a disappointment, but the chicken breast entre was quite pleasant, crispy skin, moist and simply prepared. I might ease up on the gravy and let the crispiness shine. They have a genial waitstaff with lots of potential, but obviously little training. They try hard, but just need to step up their game."
Dined on 8/1/2013
Excellent food and service! Great
pre-fix menu. I can still taste the goat cheese, walnut ravioli with fig sauce! Excellent food!"
Dined on 7/13/2013
Father's Day Brunch with my
family. We were seated quickly but had to wait 10 min for menus. I was given the wrong flavor of Bellini but after waiting so long decided I would drink it anyway. It as lukewarm. My mother ordered the omelet special. Potatoes arrived cold. Instead of leaving the dish so she could eat the omelet hot, it was taken away from her and probably nuked in the microwave. They should have just brought a new order. Sister ordered fish tacos. After receiving them she pointed out the avocado was missing. Waitress got defensive and MADE MY SIS LOOK THROUGH IT IN FRONT OF HER! It wasn't there and she begrudgingly brought avocado. My burger arrived well done instead of medium but I gave up. Dad's food was miraculously fine."

Nice restaurant and easy to get to
in Jersey City. Showed up late on Sunday evening just before kitchen closed. Staff were very friendly and accomodating. The food was very good. My wife and daughter raved about the candied pecan and goat cheese salad. Half-price bottles of wine were a pleasant suprise. Nice way to end the weekend."
Dined on 7/1/2013
I love the Hamilton Inn for
brunch. Good food, $4 brunch beverages, nice ambiance. On Father's day it was definitely busy, so service was slower than usual but that's to be expected during a holiday."
Dined on 6/16/2013
I've been going to Hamilton Inn
for a few years and they never let me down. Always great food, great atmosphere, and great service."
Dined on 6/17/2013
My 2 little girls aged 4 and 18
months took myth wit daddy here for Father's Day brunch. The food was excellent as was the service! It came quickly which when dining with small children is key! They set up a really nice spot for us by the a big open door so we got a nice breeze and view! The mimosas were fabulous just what I needed on a Sunday morning and I will no longer be able to enjoy plain old fries after having tried the truffle fries; So good!! We'll be coming back for sure really soon, before we move out of the area!"
Dined on 6/16/2013
My husband and I just moved with
our toddler to Jersey City and we like to go to an early dinner together on the weekends as a family. We were looking for a new spot and saw that the Hamilton Inn had great reviews. We tried it out and weren't disappointed. The service was friendly and helpful. The food was delicious, I enjoyed the tuna. I certainly recommend it."
Dined on 6/16/2013
A wonderful, tucked away
neighborhood gem, the Hamilton Inn is a sophisticated spot with a vibrant bar scene, pleasant sidewalk cafe and cozy interior dining area. Menu selections should please just about anyone and the service is friendly and personable. Hamilton Inn is a place you will find yourself going back to many times."

There are some simply outstanding
dishes at HI. The goat cheese pierogies with caramelized onions and truffled sour cream are at the top of the list along with the French onion soup dumplings (although the dumplings are better at Stanton Social in NYC, from whence they originated, I believe). The ribs are fantastic, truffle fries are delicious, burgers are cooked perfectly, fish tacos are tasty...haven't had something there I didn't like. Great cocktails as well. I happened to go on a Wednesday which is 1/2 price cocktail night. A large sidewalk seating area for those who are excited to dine al fresco in the nicer weather. This is a favorite and I live 1/2 hour away."

This was a great place to
celebrate my friend's birthday - we both had steak dishes and they were both great. The staff was friendly and accommodating as well."
Dined on 5/16/2013
We had the lump crab meat cocktail
which was very tasty but could have been more for what we were paying for. The periogie appetizer was excellent. Goat cheese and potato with carmelized onions and sour cream. Delicious. It was the best part of the meal. I had the tuna dish, which surprised me a bit, with all the greens. I liked the tuna and the greens were good, even though I don't like greens. Dressing was very light and that made it better. My girlfriend had the ribs and they just fell off the bone, cooked just right, but it had an unusual taste to it. It was the sauce, but I'm sure this is what the chef wanted, we just didn't think it was the best taste for the ribs. The amount of ribs were small and could have been bigger."
Dined on 5/18/2013
Cool little corner restaurant. The
reclaimed and repurposed distressed materials made for a comfortable dining experience. Took the family to brunch/breakfast on a Saturday and the menu had a good choice of standard and funky fare. We had the French toast, Heuvos Rancheros and Huevos Divorciados which were all tasty and well prepared. The oyster appetizer, though fresh, was expensive at $2.75 per oyster. My only complaint was with the service. Our waiter was polite and mostly attentive but he was not familiar with the food or wine menu which required him to go back-and-forth to the back to check with others on details and at one time indicated that an appetizer was not available when it was."

Living in the Hamilton Park area
of Jersey City for 6 months, we've greatly enjoyed all of our meals at Hamilton Inn. Especially recommend the ahi tuna and hanger steak with those fabulous fries. Drinks are wonderful as well."
Dined on 5/3/2013
Shared a lovely dinner with
friends for our birthdays. We had the steak frites and truffle ravioli's . Both very good."
Dined on 4/29/2013
love the 4 dollar brunch bevs!
food good, but the banana pie is not life changing as we had hoped for. also, specifically requested home fries crispy and they were far from that. three entrees all good - would return!"
Dined on 4/7/2013
Just worked for me on several
different levels. Large staff for size which ensured great service... staff knowledgeable, well trained and NICE! Nice selection for a pub menu and well executed. Great neighborhood place with eclectic group of patrons... though I'm not from the neighborhood and am coming back!"
Dined on 3/26/2013
place, cozy, intimate.Nice vibe for sure. No "airs" about it, down to earth and friendly. Very good for a date. The food was delicious, but the portions were tiny and left us hungry! We paid $35 for a fixed menu meal; we both had the hangar steak and fries, salad appetizer(for me),crab cake appetizer(for husband),and both chose the flourless cake for dessert. Hangar steak was great. Cooked just how we wanted. Fries were average and very small amount. Crab cake appetizer was the size of a half-dollar and was basically one bite.Appetizer salad was quite small but really good.I love flourless chocolate cake. Unfortunately for me, this cake came out HOT!I like my flourless cake cold and dense.I took it home and put it in fridge.YUM!"
