We are locals and have tried this establishment on numerous occasions. We have yet to be disappointed. The food, the service and the ambience are consistently great. We would highly recommend this restaurant to family, friends or anyone visiting the New Braunfels/Gruene area. You might consider making a reservation because it can get very busy on the weekends. Visit and Enjoy!!!!!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day BrunchMy daughter took me and a friend to the Gruene Door for brunch. We enjoyed a very good meal and had fun in a very pleasant atmosphere. The squash soup and salad were excellent but the frittata, though tasty, was just a little on the dry side. The service was very efficient and friendly and the noise level even with a high volume of guests allowed conversation without raising your voice. Thank you for a very enjoyable afternoon. Its in a great little area of town, and reminded us of Europe. The staff is friendly, ambiance is good and our server was great.

She loved the strawberry salad and I looked the butter squash soup and shrimp with cheese grits! Only thing was I was so hungry on my way to the restaurant that I drank my shake which ruined my appetite. But even so I ate the majority of my meal and suffered from indigestion for days! Food was outstanding, I had the ribeye (juicey and flavorful) and my wife had the pork loin (moist and delicious). We treated ourselves to an excellent bottle of Stag's Leap Artemis wine which served to round out the meal perfectly. Although the rib-eye was no longer on the menu, they had it on special and my husband said it was in the top 10 favorite places to get a rib-eye. The portions were perfect. I ordered shrimp and grits with a side of flash fried spinach. Since I'm gluten intolerant, the restaurant was extremely knowledgeable and accommodating. Everything is made fresh and the chef was able to modify my order to be gluten free. The shrimp and grits were some of the best I've had, the grits were so creamy and the shrimp was cooked perfectly and even had a little bite from the seasoning. For dessert, I opted for the creme brûlée and was so pleased to find vanilla bean running throughout the dessert.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMMust go destination dining experienWe returned after two years with a request via Open Table for an item that no longer appeared on the menu. They mentioned it when we checked in and served the off menu item cooked expertly. Our waiter was excellent, answered all of the many questions we had about the menu, including what kind of oil was used to cook the spinach with the salmon dish. Excellent wine suggestions. Overall a superb experience that was the highlight of our weekend trip to New Braunfels. We cannot recommend The Gruene Door highly enough. We had a nice location in the restaurant and a very friendly server who allowed us to do separate checks. She also allowed us to substitute sides with our entrees. The food was great, they had a decent wine and beer selection,and our group really enjoyed the food.
