  • "This is a go to place for any occasion. The service is excellent & food is delicious. The only downfall is the noise. It is a bit loud."

  • "there is something about this location that makes it hard to have a conversation. It is loud. Worse is when they have entertainment and pipe the music into restaurant. We had to leave the last time. I spoke to our waiter and asked him to stop the manager from increasing the volume all the time. Food is great, service is great. Its just too loud"

  • "Very nice dining experience. Food was delicious. Service was great, if not a little too great."

  • "The "Fish of the Day" was Kampachi - the most delicious fish dinner I've had...including our own Canadian West Coast wild Spring Salmon!"

  • "We had a group of 7 - easily accommodated and everyone enjoyed themselves. Food & drinks are good and we had an attentive waiter. Would go back & recommend to a friend."

  • "My husband and I were in town for four days for the wedding of my brother. We were five for dinner and then after dinner, my brother and his new bride came to have dessert with us. Nobody bothered us or so much as suggested that it might be time to leave. It was rather late! We had wonderful desserts all around and lots of conversation."

  • "Noise level made speaking very difficult...in fact we could not hear the server from across the table. Overall very good food but ruined by the noise level. Too bad."

  • "The Brussel Sprouts salad is my favorite and I've gone back for it several times. For the first time, I did have one issue. Called to make a reservation and a cheery girl told me to hold. And, she never came back - for over 5 minutes. Finally, hung up and used Open Table."

  • "We enjoyed our meal but we have done much better in the past for the price. For the spend, we have higher expectations. We payed more the next night, and felt it was worth it. Don't take this review wrong, as we would consider returning. One other note - we had a difficult time selecting from the menu. It may have just been our preference or mood that evening though. For me to suggest a restaurant to our friends or family it either has to (1) blow us away with the food, then who cares about the price, or (2) has to be great quality food at a great price. So, I would be reluctant."

  • "The best restaurant experience we have had on Oahu. Dishes are creative, well-presented and fantastically delicious. The poke stack and butterfish were awesome. Wine list is small but very well rounded. Also can't beat $5 martinis on Wednesday. Service was impeccable. The Grove has a sister restaurant (Ola at Turtle Bay), but The Grove is far better. We will definitely be back!"

  • "I immensely enjoyed the Dry Rubbed Pork Ribs paired with the Troublemaker red wine blend. The wine accentuated the ribs elegantly and the ribs brought the spiciness of the Zinfandel to the front of the mix. (There's a sign above the bar that captures the feeling: "Life is too short to waste on bad wine".) My wife loved the flavors of the Greek Marinaded Roasted Chicken. The ambiance is kind of a peaceful joy. The Grove expresses je ne sai quoi that is the essence of Kailua. We will definitely be back to share this find with some friends."

  • "We had reservation at 6pm and when we arrive the restaurant was empty, so we said uh oh, but while sitting at the bar sipping mojitos the place started getting more and more people. The bartender was really friendly and the waiter was helpful as well. The food was delicious and we would love to go back some day."

  • "We have returned again and again to The Grove each winter, which we spend in Kailua. We have celebrated special birthdays and visits there with family and friends. The food and staff are always excellent. We especially appreciate how carefully they have helped with special needs of friends with allergies. Our favorite meals include ahi poke, the brussels sprouts salad, sweet potato fries with three kids of aioli, short ribs, risotto, clams, and all the fresh fish dishes. The menu is diverse, beautifully cooked and presented. The specials always are fun to try. Most recently the duck breast was a new treat for us."

  • "The service was attentive & friendly. All the dishes we ordered were perfect portion size, unique and fabulous tasting. When we go out we like to try new dishes that you wouldn't find at other restaurants or something that you would easily make at home. We love that The Grove offers a nice menu variety and changes it up every so often so it's always fresh and something new to try. Loved the live background music. Compliments to the Chef and Staff!"

  • "My wife and I split the Kalua pork nachos, small warm brussell sprout and grilled mushroom salads, grilled garlic shrimp, lobster burger (special), and bread pudding. Every dish was great. The nachos were actually fried wonton wrappers which gave the dish a delicious Asian flare and the pork was awesome. Both salads were great, although the warm brussell sprout salad is a MUST HAVE. Best grilled shrimp I have ever had, including my own. The orechette pasta with the shrimp was the perfect compliment. The lobster burger was moist and delicious. The bread pudding was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The wait staff was friendly and provided excellent service. This restaurant was firing on all cylinders!"

  • "Went to the Grove Thursday night with a girlfriend and had a nice meal. Rick was our server. He is very friendly and when I asked him a few things about items on the menu he knew all the ingredients. That is appreciated and not the norm at some places. It was 1/2 bottle off wine night which was fabulous!! We were not starving so we ended up splitting the brussels sprout salad, kalua pig nachos and some lovely truffle fries with dipping sauces. It was plenty! The food was good and is presented well. I like the Grove..good atmosphere and the tourists have not found out about it yet:)"

  • "Dinner was good but not great. Killer warm brussel salad, but the rest of it was just ok. Our waitress was great.....starts with a C, sorry, I can't remember, but she was a delight...made the whole dinner for us. We were on lobster tail special night. It was fine but my friend said her lobster had a moldy taste to it and sent it back. One of our party had the butterfish which was very good. Imhadnthe lobster which seemed fine to me and my husband had prime rib, which was good, not great. They served the bread with a really good salsa type dip which was also very good."

  • "Very good food. The mango chutney wasn't the usual kind -- kind of tastes like apples. Customer relations were very nice. People were very attentive. You pay for parking if you can't find a spot on the street. Payment is by coins so bring several quarters."

  • "The prime rib was excellent, portion for sharing. The warm Brussels sprout salad great as ever. Was seated close to the kitchen, it was very noises, hard to hold a brisk conversation."

  • "My husband and I (54 years married) went out on a "date" to The Grove. It was a lovely evening. Carolina was a very welcoming and attentive waitperson, and the food was very nice. One of the receptionists was also very cheerful. It's a bit pricey for an ordinary location, but we will probably go again."

  • "This was my fourth time to The Grove. The menu has slightly changed since then. The food I have ordered has always been good taste wise, but could use some improvement in adding more veggies to the dish. The staff has always been great; however, on this particular occasion our waiter wasn't very good. He seemed a bit overwhelmed by the crowd at the restaurant and wasn't very cordial. He was not rude or anything like that; just not the kind of waiter that you would expect at a nice place like The Grove. He needs more training to smile, slow down, sell the food, etc."

  • "We enjoyed our meal at The Grove - lobster risotto very tasty as promised. Ribeye steak cooked to order and reasonably lean. Waiter was friendly and helpful."

  • "I purchased a Livingsocial voucher back in September. We realized it was about to expire, so we decided to check it out. Oh my gosh! Best little place we've found so far. The entire staff was wonderful and friendly. The atmosphere was romantic and the good. I'm still talking about the food and we ate there on Thursday and it's now Saturday. We are making plans to go back. It really is a gem and everyone should go there."

  • "Went with my girlfriend for new year's eve and we had a blast. Great food, incredibly friendly staff, and an ambiance that worked for families as well as romance for us. I had the lobster risotto, she had the clam linguini, and we had "the vinny" flat bread starter. We were incredibly happy with the food, as well as the fun drink menu. Highly recommend it."

  • "What a wonderful evening. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our food, and noted ALL of the dishes looked fabulous! Small restaurant, live music, very relaxed and non-fussy. Would definitely go back."

  • "Place is still good but the Brussel sprout salad is not the same. It was to die for before. Now.... its just okay. They must have changed the chef. Even many of their wines are changing."

  • "I purchased a Living Social deal to give this place a try. I wasn't impressed but it was okay. Our waitress was nice and made some suggestions since it was our first time there. The food was okay, although overpriced for the quality and quantity. The location is convenient since we live close by but I would much rather have gone elsewhere."

  • "I really like this place. Love the ambience. Love Shady Hour. Every time I've been there (I go about once a quarter) the menu changes a bit. That can be a good thing since they're trying to keep the menu fresh and new. Their kalua pork/goat cheese appetizer is GREAT. Their poke is GREAT. Service (every time I've been there) has been VERY GOOD to EXCELLENT. I highly recommend THE GROVE."
