  • "The Grilled Oyster is always fun and reliable with a fun atmosphere, great food, including a range of specials and attentive service. I strongly recommend this for all!"

  • "If you like seafood that is fresh, this is the place. Everything we had was really good."

  • "The food and service was excellent however, the noise level was very high. We arrived for a 9:15 reservation and it wasn't tell 10:15 that we could hear each other at the table."

  • "Excellent experience from the moment we entered to the moment we left."

  • "We really enjoy this place for its food, its service and its convenience."

  • "I like seafood and the oysters were wonderful here.We had the fish tacos, crab and shrimp and all were prepared very well indeed. Will return soon."

  • "The high clattery noise level spoiled an otherwise perfect evening of excellent food, attentive service and all around great dining. There is no sound deadening in the high overhead ceiling, nor floor carpeting. Our party of seven found it difficult to converse across the table or with another two seats away. Too bad, because otherwise it would be a top dining experience."

  • "We adore the Grilled Oyster. The seafood is fresh, the menu is delicious and consistently made, and they have terrific kids meals that go beyond the standard chicken fingers and pizza."

  • "Dined early on 7/4. Entree fish was fishy tasting, entree was delivered before appetizer (which was then cancelled), no paper towels in restroom."

  • "The Thai basil mussels are a must! Fabulous! The lobster was wonderful. They substituted grilled vegetables since I didn't want fries. We had a drink outside on the couches and it was a lovely night. Very accommodating and amiable wait staff. I would go here again in a heartbeat!"

  • "I was visiting MD from FL and this is my first visit to Grilled Oyster Company. The oysters were wonderful and my lunch entree of a soft shell crab cake sandwich was delicious, as were the french fries that accompanied it. It will be a "must return" on my next trip north."

  • "We have dined at The Grilled Oyster Company on many occasions and it is always outstanding. Staff is very cordial and accommodating. We just love this restaurant!"

  • "...it's very good. When it's not is another story for another time. The reservation was honored on time with prompt seating. That evening our party had raw oysters, barbecue shrimp, Ipswich clams, mussels in wine, steamed clams and a crab cake sandwich. The timing of the dishes was excellent and the steamed or fried items arrived piping hot. Particularly notable were the fried Ipswich clams and the crab cake. We have had them many times and they are always excellent. The mussels and steamed clams come with plenty of toasted bread for dipping in the broths. When Ben is running the house and Rachel is your server, a great meal can almost be guaranteed."

  • "We ordered eggs Benedict and they were barely warm and definitely overcooked. More like hard boiled eggs than poached eggs. I don't recommend brunch here. The place was also empty, only 3 tables in use."

  • "The look of this little strip-mall restaurant did not give me high expectations, but the food was terrific and the service was great. As soon as we sat down the waitress brought a little amuse bouche with strips of flatbread, carrots and celery with a little bit of dip -- just enough to take the edge off and puit us in a good mood. The Chesepeake oysters were big and cold, and ther three dishes we ordered -- a whole lobster (with a great, easy-to-eat presentation), the scallops/clams linguine in tomato sauce, and the crab cakes -- were each wonderful. We topped the night with a key lime tart and the duo of vanilla and chocolate creme brulee. We'll be back!"

  • "The place is cute and the bar is a nice place to sit and have a drink and some happy hour food. The food was OK, not great and not gourmet but good enough. I would not go out of my way to go there again because Nantucket's is better."

  • "We have eaten lunch several times and dinner twice. Great service. Good time. We are fans, but too noisy."

  • "Not too many places serve Rhode Island oysters. That's what we went for and they were great. Fresh, cool, served nicely. The fish and seafood dishes have been very good. Also very good wine selection. Great service. surprisingly nice setting for the strip mall location. Sides and veggies need an upgrade to compare with the oysters and fish. We'll be going back many times."

  • "Seafood at its best, plus the burgers are great. The service is outstanding. Most accommodating staff in the area."

  • "A good neighborhood place. In contrast to other reviews, the service was excellent. Food was good, wine list overpriced but reasonable selections. Would definitely return."

  • "I like this place for a very civilized lunch. The lunch special of grilled trout was very good, but the dish that really stands out is the chocolate lava cake. Yum. Sinful too."

  • "Decided to sit at bar. Instead of dining room. Bartender very personable. She knew her menu and drinks."

  • "Great gem in the heart of Potomac. Feels like your at a beach restaurant. "

  • "I was a little disappointed with the food. I had a Caesar salad that had TOO much cheese on it- I mean it was more than covered. I had seared scallops that, while fresh, had sand in them. Generally I have had a good meal there. It was a Saturday night and they were very busy...."

  • "My wife and I enjoying going to The Grilled Oyster Company often and normally the experience as very good to excellent. This particular evening was not consistent with our usual experience so we'll give them the benefit of the doubt and return at some time in the future. The 2 issues were 1) the oysters were a more than a bit 'off', not the usual level of freshness, and 2) we felt rushed this time, server and bus staff kept trying to clear plates with food clearly still on them and us eating ... also it was tough getting our waitresses attention, she'd drop off an item for instance never making eye contact and be gone while we would be trying to get her attention and ask for something."

  • "We were visiting from out of town and friends recommended The Grilled Oyster Company. We, of course had the oysters. I had raw and my husband had the grilled oysters for our starters. They were both delicious. Also ordered were soft shell crabs and the crab cakes. The crab cakes were all lump but lacked seasoning. Nothing a bit of hot sauce did not fix. The soft shells were tempura style and also yummy. Desserts were chocolate cherry ice cream and key lime tart. The key lime was just okay, not key lime enough for me. A big shout out to our amazing server Bry. She was attentive, sweet and a pleasure!"

  • "Tucked in a 80's style strip mall that has somehow survived and flourished, is this narrow, little restaurant. Despite its name, don't expect to get NOLA-inspired grilled oysters. But everything else about the restaurant exceeds expectations. Not only is the wine list impressive, but the draft beer selections are most notable, featuring some excellent local varieties. And the food is fantastic, prepared well with portion-sizes just right. I had the divers scallops; the others in our party chose the soft-shell crabs, the mahi, and the ahi tuna. All were well-pleased with their selections. We were surprised to see Doug Gansler dining there with his party, and grateful that he did not make any campaign speeches!!"

  • "My wife and I love The Grilled Oyster Co. but this was not a good experience. It was a Thursday night, 8:30 dinner. Drinks were fine but the meal was not up to par, it almost seemed as if the chef in the kitchen didn't know the menu. I ordered SW Grilled Oysters and they came out w/o the chorizo in them so they were bland, ordered the Brussels sprouts from the menu - out of season (fine, but maybe don't have them on the permanent menu), got the heirloom tomato and crab gratin instead which was also bland. The burger was supposed to have avocado on it - it didn't, but was cooked well!). The manager took off the oysters and Crab dish and gave free dessert so he handled that well at least. Hoping for a better FOOD experience next time!"

  • "We have enjoyed lunch and dinner at the Grilled Oyster several times in the past year. We have enjoyed every dish (although we haven't tried many desserts). The cocktail menu is seasonal and delicious. Wide variety of beer, good wine list. Great salads. Friendly and attentive service. The seafood is fresh and cooked appropriately. Obviously, seafood dominates the menu, your non-seafood eating friends will only have a few choices. Don't be thrown off by its location in a shopping center - this restaurant is great for a night out!"

  • "This was our first time for dinner at this neighborhood place. The food was mediocre; the service horrible (sorry Rachel). I had the spinach salad with fried oysters, and the oysters were so thickly breaded I did not recognize them. As an entrée, I had the soft shelled crab, which was supposed to be flash fried tempura style, but which were very greasy and covered with some mayonnaise like concoction. I could not finish them. My wife said her scallops were very good. My main complaint is the service. We watched as others were brought small trays of vegetables and bread sticks. We got none. The waitress never refilled our water or wine, and the entrees were brought out before we finished our salads. I would not go again. "

  • "With a glass of Dominion IPA, I had a half-dozen mixed raw oysters on the half-shell and they were all delicious! My wife had the fish tacos and thought they were outstanding. They were out of tuna, so instead of ahi tuna macadamia salad, I had the lettuce wrap trio – seared ahi tuna, grilled shrimp, fried oyster - which was great, as was the glass of Malbec. My wife had the eastern bay rosemary chicken, which was OK. Finally, we topped it off with a dual vanilla/chocolate creme brûlée - c'est magnifique! We told the owner that we will return with the kids next time... they are critical foodies, so it would be good to get their take on it."

  • "Food is always good. There were 6 of us so lots of talking going on. We weren't rushed, the food came out in a timely fashion and correct. We didn't feel rushed. The waiter was attentive but not pushy. He gave us our space and allowed us to sit around and enjoy the food and each other. I will continue to go back to this neighborhood gem."

  • "THe food was very good. The price of the oysters were high but I'm used to eating oysters in New Orleans for a lot less money."

  • "Great variety of seafood with many options to choose from. Service was very good and our waitress was curtious and informative which helped with choosing the dishes. All in all a lovely place, lovely atmosphere and great food! Will definitely go back! "

  • "We absolutely love The Grilled Oyster. The menu items are varied with someone for everyone (seafood, steak, chicken and pasta). The restaurant is known for its oysters, but everything else is fabulous. Service is friendly and cordial. We always ask for a booth and the restaurant places a reserve sign on one to guarantee your request. It is our "GO TO" restaurant when friends are in town because we know they will totally enjoy the experience."

  • "Wonderful place for oysters, wine, and a good time. Great management team and service. I only would suggest this place grows to be able to move out the strip mall into a larger location someday. With the limited space tables are packed in tight...but sometimes that makes for instant dining friends."
