"The waiter was not all that friendly until we complained...I asked for a Canadian Club and was brought something else...our steaks were over-cooked...there were loads of kids in this restaurant when we came for a romantic experience...they ended up comping our wine..the waiter did try harder...but overall not what we expected. ;-("

"The venison was outstanding, served on a bed of rosemary and cooked to perfection. This restaurant is a real Whistler treat, with excellent food and service. Our only small complaint is that a Kir Royale was $30 when we explicitly asked that it be made with inexpensive sparkling wine and many other restaurants never charge more than $12-$15. A warning would have been appreciated, since it was over double the price of all other cocktails on their menu. Still, well worth a visit for a special occasion when you want to savour every bite."

"The food was excellent, however we made a reservation for six people and were seated in the middle of the restaurant at a huge round table that would have easily seated 8-10, so didn't make for very good coziness and conversation for us all. There were no other options for seating as the restaurant was full, that was the only disappointing feature."

"We found the food in the Grill Room to be variable. For example, the salmon and tuna were not very tasty, while the seafood roast was excellent. The Bison Carpaccio was "buried" under arugula lettuce, rather than being featured given that it is called a Bison Carpaccio not an Arugula salad with Bison Carpaccio.

The waitress was inexperience with a number of things. She did not know which end to use for the wine decanter. She participated in the conversation that the guests were having among themselves. She should only speak when spoken to."

"My husband and I went to Whistler Blackcomb for our honeymoon and stayed the Fairmont Chateau where this restaurant is located. We saved dining here for our last night. We let the restaurant know we were on our honeymoon and they gave us the absolutely most amazing table for two, right in front of the fireplace. They say the reserve this table for honeymoons and surprise engagements! It would be perfect for an engagement. My favorite thing was the buffalo carpaccio appetizer. It was TO DIE FOR. We split a porterhouse steak (22oz) which was delightful and perfectly cooked. For desert we got chocolate fondue off the Mallard (bar) menu which was delish with fresh fruit and merenques. Service was exceptional. A great dining experience!"

"Only a month old as of 21 Jan when we visited. It's in the back of the "Wildwood" restaurant and separated by a fireplace and stairs. Service, as it's a Fairmont, is exemplarary. Please try the Tomato/Gin soup! Prepared tableside (with flair and a story) it's a great start to a great meal. (The small batch organic Gin is made nearby in Pemberton by Schramm). The entrees were perfect and the sides (especially potato gratin) were just the right proportions to share. If you're lucky enough to get Michael as your server you'll be very well looked after.

The room is small - but "the most romantic table in Whistler" is by the fireplace and it seats just two. Perfect!"

"Food was heavy, lots of butter in dishes. I had the duck which had so much salt that I did not eat it and yet I still ended up paying for it.,
Found the cooking very old style, the real flavour of the foods was masked by the butter, salt and in some dishes cream..
