Diner Reviews
  • "The Grill at the Scottsdale TPC overlooks the 18th green at the golf course. It is a large room with ample patio dining should one wish to do that. Food was nothing special. STaff was very pleasant. Most of tables filled with golfers who just had finished their rounds"

  • "We had a wonderful experience there for New Years Eve and so we thought we would take out-of-town guests there. Very disappointed this time. First thing I noticed was the white tablecloths were gone. Although the bright lighting was nice to read the menus, it was too light for dining. The food was very good and presented nicely, but it was very pricey and so was the wine. PS limited gluten free options!"

  • "The Fairmont! It inspires expectations. This Grill at lunch is a less-expensive way to experience luxury than its alternatives. The chef is obviously skilled. The French Dip was presented on a delicious roll with a beautifully-flavor jus. Unfortunately, the beef was a bit old, past its prime. While it was acceptable, I really anticipated a better meal. If one did not taste the meat each time in the kitchen, though, the chef could not know, and I did not complain, being too hungry to wait for a replacement. It was okay, just not the top expected."

  • "We had not dined at The Grill for a while and looked forward to eating there again. We were a bit disappointed and apparently the word has spread. We were there at 7:00pm on a Saturday night and only one other table was occupied. The menu was limited but that is understandable... with so few diners it would be difficult to offer much variety. The quality of the food was average (farm raised salmon instead of wild caught) and was presented as the usual pile in the middle of the plate. No bread served with the meal. One of our party said the sirloin was good. Dessert choices limited to three. I couldn't really recommend The Grill as there are many good choices in this price category."

  • "Beginning with the welcoming person, when asked if a guest of mine had arrived, she assured me that they had NOT. Five minutes later, when a waitress asked if I was waiting on another person, she informed me that the guest had indeed arrived. While taking our order, a waitress was informed that we would like to place an order to-go, toward the end of our meal. Soon after our food arrived, the to-go order was brought to the table as well. They took it back and approximately 5 minutes later, brought it out again, took it back and brought it out a third time while we were still eating. This is the first time when I felt the service was less then Superior."

  • "Good place to have a business mtg. Server very attentive to the needs of the table and allowing service to occur after initial mtg."

  • "Had been here while staying at the Fairmont Princess with my family and was really happy with the food/service, so was looking forward to a return. The setting can't be beat--covered patio at dusk overlooking 18th green at TPC (Stadium Course). Service was great and food selections--while new to us since our visit last year--were perfect for a country club grill. My seared scallops in risotto were excellent and cooked to a tee (ha). Only small disappointment was a menu change (was told they were purchased by Princess--and since that resort already had a steak place, The Grill is now a "gastro pub" menu w/o steaks). They dropped our favorite dessert--a tic-tac-toe sampler plate. But otherwise, was perfect for a pre-Mother's Day dinner."

  • "View was nice overlooking the green; service was excellent - our waitress was so bubbly and attentive. Bartender made note that it was our anniversary, as was the other couples with whom we dined, and offered congratulations. My chicken dish was tender, juicy and plentiful. Beforehand, we shared the cheese dish which offered an assortment of cheeses, bread and crudite that was ample for the party of 4. At the end of the meal the chef himself came out with a special presentation for us and engaged us in pleasant conversation."

  • "Food was great but menu leaves a lot to be desired in choices. Prices are totally outrageous for what you get. Live music was just awful. Old menu and style was far superior. Sadly or family favorite restaurant is no more but we tried the new style and unfortunately won't be back"

  • "This was our first visit to The Grill at the Fairmont; even though we only live in Tempe. We chose it as we wanted to experience the Christmas et al, at the resort but wanted reasonable meal prices. The menu selection isn't large but is adequate. The food was excellent. The live music was very good."

  • "It is a great location, and we were disappointed in the menu selection. We had been there in the past when it was known for its steaks, and were strongly disappointed, especially since it is part of the Fairmont. The service was good and courteous by really needs to improve on the menu choices."

  • "The employees could care less about offering any type of service. no management was there to do anything. we picked up and left. the valet people where nice, but got stuck with $8 charge with no one to validate."

  • "This place was fantastic! Kendal our server was outstanding and everything we ordered was excellent. Definitely give this place a try, total sleeper, but won't be for long after the word gets out."

  • "Disappointed with the down-scaling of the menu. Less fish dishes, more sandwiches. Too bad. And the pork shanks I ordered were barely warm."
    Dined on 9/18/2012
  • "The new lunch menu is bad. Very few healthy choices and the entree chopped salad I ordered was small with too little chicken. The staff responded well and brought more chicken when I complained but overall the salad was unimaginative and too small for an entree even with added chicken."

  • "We arrived to find an empty restaurant, but blaring, inappropriate music. I suggested politely that "the ambience of the restaurant might be improved if the music could be turned down". The waiter angrily left and slightly lowered the music. We left to go to another restaurant. The grill is probably best as an after-golf burger stop."

  • "My wife and I really tried hard to like the TPC Grill. The positives: I really liked the atmosphere and view of the 18th green. We sat inside, but could see the outdoor seating which also looked very nice. Our waiter was very good. The three stars I rated "service" is an average between four stars for the waiter and two stars for the kitchen. The negatives: Scottsdale has a number of very nice restaurants, so the competition is fierce. Even among the restaurants at the Fairmont Princess campus (The Bourbon Steakhouse, Hacienda,...), the Grill fails to distinguish itself. The food was OK, but it took almost 1 hour to get it in a half-full restaurant. The $6 asparagus side could have fit in the palm of my hand--small for ala carte."

  • "We were not informed of construction on site. No valet parking. Dining room was overbooked so we were placed in an enclosed patio room was drafty and could, and far from romantic for a Valentine Day special dinner. The waiters were not well trained but were friendly. At best this would serve as a great informal lunch and dinner for golfers or as place to meet during or after a golf tournament. Definitely cannot be compared to other formal dining establishments in Scottsdale. Very disappointing experience."

  • "It was fine -- nothing special, but not bad. Service was friendly and attentive. The view of the TPC's 18th hole is nice if you get there before dark. Food wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything you can't get elsewhere, especially at this price. Don't park at the Fairmont and take the shuttle, even though the hotel valet will tell you to. Just drive directly to the restaurant and park there."

  • "Despite the statement in the hotel brochure that it would "feature a prix fixe menu, in addition to their regular menu," it took some effort to order from a very limited regular menu. It was almost as if the staff did not know what the hotel promised guests. But Kirk and Patrick made the best of what was turning into a very bad experience."

  • "The food was wonderful -- each member of our party of six raved about both appetizer and meal. If I had to come up with a recommendation, it would be to turn the music down a bit as we felt as though we were having to yell over it."

  • "We were disappointed in our Restaurant Week experience. Didn't realize how little actual lobster meat was on a 1 pound lobster. Salad greens were fresh, but salad was uninspiring. Soup was too salty. Peanut butter tower was cloyingly sweet. and could not finish. Left the restaurant hungry!! Expected more from a Fairmont restaurant."
    Dined on 9/24/2011
  • "The menu for restaurant week looked great, the food was not. It was our first and last visit. The seafood soup had no taste; the lobster was only OK; the prime rib, not made fresh that day, was tasteless. Someone told us they did not have a good meal there 2 years ago. We should have listened. We will not eat there again."
    Dined on 9/22/2011
  • "We went to enjoy the restaurant week menu and were so disappointed. I had the lobster and my husband had the chicken. The worst part of the dinner, besides the need to drink several gallons of water to flush the salt, was the service. With an overpriced menu, I expect not to have to wait 15 minutes for our waiter to see our empty glasses. When he finally did come back and took our drink order we waited another 15 minutes. We only got them because the manager came by to see how we were doing. That may seem trivial, but really? Its restaurant week so game on! I thought it was just us, but other tables were complaining too. One table waited over an hour for their food to come. Can I just have my $120 and 3 hours of my life back?"
