We have had lunch at The Grill some time ago, but when we had out of town guests visiting, we decided to try the brunch. We wanted to give them a special experience and they were impressed. The egg benedicts were delicious, the service most attentive and the historic setting added to their enjoyment, since they are history buffs. They even asked about, and were provided with the written brief history of Harryman House as we left. It was a memorable experience all round.

I've been critical of past dinners at Harryman House and I continue to believe they serve glorified bar food when IMHO the potential to up their game is endless given their surroundings and the atmosphere of the restaurant space. I personally stick to basic choices when we dine here with friends living nearby and that seems to be the way to go. Service is always very good and would shine even more if they upped their game in the kitchen

Very nice meal, selection of wines by the glass, service and setting. Restaurant has many smaller rooms which are comfortable but was a little disappointed that a big screen TV was on the wall in the dining room....can be a distraction while you trying to have a conversation and a football game is going on almost directly above your table. TV sound was off but hard not to glance up when the screen changes. Fortunately my company was more interesting than the game and the grilled salmon more than made up the slight distraction. Personally I think the TV's should be left for the bar area which looks like a great place to watch a game and not in the dining rooms. No rush in trying to turn the table over and again the service was excellent and the salmon was one of the best pieces that I've had and it's usually a choice of mine at many restaurants.

The lump crab dip had no lumps and very little crab. We sent it back and received another one just about the same. The salmon was very good and the desert was good too. I enjoyed my wine. The waitress was very pleasant. Dinner took 2 hours for us probably because we sent the dip back. No other complaints.

I had the shrimp and grits which came with andouille sausage. The sausage was over cooked and very spicy and a couple of the shrimp were also over cooked. The grits had little to no taste. The sauce was good but needed salt. On the other hand, my dessert, the bananas foster, was too salty. The caramel, and I like a good salted caramel, was way too salty to really enjoy the banana bread and fresh bananas. Overall there are few choices on the menu, especially appetizers, and the food is over priced. I left disappointed and will not be returning.

Stick to the "Casual" menu, meaning pizzas & sandwiches. The "Polished Dinner" items were bland, lacked seasoning, inconsistently cooked, not warm and overpriced. Service was poor though they weren't busy. We waited over 20 minutes after being seated to even be approached for a drink or to have our water glasses filled. We had to chase down a server after that to ask for the bread. For dessert we ordered a creme brulee. The sugar on top was so burnt that it was bitter and even from a distance smelled acrid. I couldn't believe the kitchen actually sent it or the waitress served it to us that way. When we called her back, she responded lightly that, yes she could see how charred it was and that she would 'yell' at the chef. Excuse me?

The servers have always been attentive and the ambiance is cozy. This is one of our favorate places to go in the area and have brought many friends with us in the past.

This experience at HH was unlike any other I have experienced. That's why it was so hard for me to rate the service this time. We arrived earlier then our reservation time. The hostess was not very welcoming, just kind of "matter of fact". She sat us. Then the highlight of the evening came over to the table, a busboy by the name of Blake. He was very welcoming, mannerly and pleasant. Our server on the other hand was some what aloof. He told us what the soups were for the night, but never told us about the dinner specials. We ordered drinks, dinner. Our drinks arrived, mine was not what I ordered. After having to bring this era to his attention, he seemed to change his demeanor. he then became a good server. Odd night at HH.

I do not recommend this restaurant. Food was disappointing, and atmosphere weird. Noise from bar side could be heard in new dining space which feels like an atrium. Food did not keep up with contemporary standards. Menu has too many selections for chefs to be able to focus on doing anything well. Menu selections promised to be more interesting and delicious than they actually were. (Vidalia onion tart was overcooked and soggy, the tomato jam was more like a thick sauce, and Brussels sprouts were over-sweet and not caramelized at all. butternut bisque was decent. Molten Chocolate cake---not fresh or molten. Shrimp salad croissant was shaped like a croissant but made of multi-grain heavy tough bread--totally opposite of what a croissant is!

The Grill at Harryman House is a go-to place for our family as we count on the consistent quality of food and service--and the excellent wine list. Saturday night was not up to their usual standard. Though the fresh rolls and oysters on the half-shell were outstanding, my chicken saltimbocca was, in a word, inedible. Dried out and plated in a sauce that tasted like a mixture of jarred BBQ sauce and swamp water. To their credit, it was taken off the bill. My husband's medium rare filet came out initially cooked medium well and had to be redone. Our dining partner's crabcake and rockfish specials were delicious. Service was OUTSTANDING. it is unfortunate that two dishes were problemmatic in one experience; however, we will return.

As other reviewers has stated the wait staff here is excellent. They are tentative when needed, but give you the time and space to enjoy your dinning experience. The food however is another story. Given the level of service and ambiance of the building, I was expecting to be blown away buy my meal, but I was sadly mistaken. The Food is " ok" at best for the price charged, but leaves a lot to be desired.

Crab soup basically tomato sauce with vegetables and stringy bits of crab meat. Shrimp and Grits, four 21-25 overdone shrimp with maybe two tablespoons of grits for $20.00 definitely not dinner size. Same with spaghetti squash with tomato sauce and veggies, they have a better larger size version at Ruby Tuesdays. Have been going to this restaurant for years and assume they changed cooks because this has never happened before. Food was flavorful though.

We were delighted to discover that the Grill at Harryman House extended its Restaurant Week menu. The members of our party do not eat meat. We were very happy to see both a fish and a vegetarian entree option on the special menu. The red snapper was moist and delicately flavored with summer vegetables. The summer squash/pasta entree, with fresh peas and asparagus tips was also exceptional. We enjoyed our meal in the lovely new room at the back, where we were also able to enjoy the Ravens game without having to sit at the bar.

I made reservation for a date during Restaurant week. Asked to be seated in 1 of 2 areas (out of more) and that was accommodated. Wait staff was consistently attentive, and very patient during a rather prolonged process of choosing menus. When a bar beverage was not available when ordered, our waitress came back within minutes to say it was now available - thank you! This restaurant is consistently good. I traveled 15 miles to get to it as a central meeting point with friends. Could have met closer to home and still been a central meeting spot.

I and grateful to have Harryman House in my area. I would like to encourage the kitchen to make the desserts as special (creative) as the menu.

We were very disappointed with this restaurant for dinner. I had previously been here for lunch and it was great. Dinner is another story. Menu is kind of limited with not a lot of "popular" food choices. Waiter gave the impression that he would rather be somewhere else than working. We felt like we were " bothering" him whenever we needed / wanted something. Dessert was great, chocolate chip cheesecake!!

Lunch is always wonderful at Harryman House. The only disappointing things was that they ran out of the crab quiche, which was the quiche of the day. We thought that it was strange that they ran out of it by noon since it was the quiche of the day. A daily special should be plentiful. I had the crab soup of the day and a shrimp salad sandwich. Both were delicious. Our waitress, Mickey, was terrific and very honest about recommendations. Looking forward to returning soon.
