A word from The Grey Plume
As a new restaurant to Omaha, The Grey Plume focuses on seasonality and sustainability. We change our menu often, basing our cuisine on local farmer's supply. When possible we preserve produce from Nebraska and the region at harvest for the winter months. The Grey Plume works in partnership with The Green Restaurant Association and is the first and only Certified Green Restaurant in Nebraska. Enjoy the comfortably elegant dining atmosphere for dinner.   • "We have dined at the Grey Plume three times, and it has been better each time, but always good. This experience was especially good! The rabbit was delicious, as was the beef strip. Highly recommend this restaurant for a nice date night. It is pricey, but worth it."

  • "We felt the dishes were lacking in a few places. For the most part the food was cooked well and had a great plate presentation. The brussels sprouts were undercooked and too crunchy. The chicken roulade had no filling, which seemed strange to me. The food was seasoned very assertively. Towards the end of my meal I felt like my tongue was covered in salt. The duck fat fries were not crisp at all, which is not what you want in a french fry. The food was good, but the heavy handedness on the salt, undercooking of the brussels sprouts, lack of filling on the chicken roulade, and the soft duck fat fries left something to be desired. The food was good, but it wasn't good enough to justify a c-note for two people."

  • "This was our second visit to The Grey Plume. It is in a class by itself - our absolute favorite restaurant in town. Beyond the food - which is exquisite - the atmosphere is amazing. We felt immediately welcomed and taken care of by the staff. Clayton Chapman took the time to leave the kitchen throughout the evening to welcome people and make sure everyone was having a good experience. Our waiter was knowledgeable, really friendly but never hovered too much. We can't wait to go back - and to check out the store when it opens later this Spring."

  • "We had been to The Grey Plume about 14-months ago with a large group of 10 people (a family reunion). Our dinner, it was a WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE! This time, with just three (3) of us...not so wonderful. The appetizer, wine selection and dessert were top-notch. Our main dishes, at best, were fair: One rabbit was only luke-warm; both lamb orders were cooked "rare"...ordered M/R & M. What was missing from (at least) the main dish was...consistency! This experience has dampened my enthusiasm for those "Up-Scale" & "Sheek" restaurants in Omaha! However, I'm willing to risk a third visit (someday) to allow this establishment a more positive review from me."

  • "Rated best gourmet burger in Omaha. Big miss in my opinion. Even though it was cooked perfectly the flavor was very bland and the bun fell apart after the second bite. This was noted in the review by Mindy. I know this place is high end but some salt, pepper. and ketchup on the table, or even offered when the meals came would have been a plus. when asked for some ketchup they came with a house made concoction that tasted like tomato paste. My wife had the tri tip plate and was satified but not blown away. The night did not go buy without a hit though. We had the duck duck fries with an egg and truffle oil on top and i don't think i have ever had a better appetizer in my life. We will return soon if not just for this. Great service"

  • "The Ricotta Gnocchi was excellent, however we received only three gnocchi for $11. I had the Strip Sirloin for $34. I received four fourth inch thick pieces of sirloin. The meat was tough and a miniscule portion for $34. Except for the potatoes, the vegetables were excellent. The potato puree was bland and had taken on a greyish color."

  • "Arrived early and staff was extremely hospitable. We had some downtown time and drank a potent old fashion!! Enjoyed charcuterie plate especially the soft whipped cream cheese spread and summer sausage The trout was so fresh, tender and Arrived on a beautiful ceramic plate! Drank a bottle of wine nicely decantered and had a more cheese for desert and chocolate soup. The dining area was filled with soft dusk light as the sunset and the noise level was peaceful quiet.   • "Went last Friday to celebrate finding out we are going to be parents! My wife had been craving baked brie all week. Noticing it was not on the menu, I made a special request for it when booking my table. As soon as we showed up to the restaurant, the hostess told us the chef had prepared one specially for us. The rest of the food was great, as has been the case the other 3 or 4 times we have eaten here, and we feel that they go out of their way to make the evening special. Next time I am going to request a vase full of M&M's with all of the yellow ones removed just to see how far they will actually go :-)"

  • "My husband and I recently went to the Grey Plume to celebrate our anniversary. The service was excellent and the food was amazing. I especially loved the Duck Fat Fries, Gnocchi, Vegetable Raggouet (sp?), and the ice cream. OK that was pretty much everything I ate but it was all great. We don't know why we don't go there more often but definitely want to take advantage of their walk-in bar experience more often."

  • "We started with cocktails at the bar, a French 75 and a Cattleman's/, with an Atty as the second cocktail. All were superb. We also sampled some Crème de Violette and had a pleasant conversation with the bar tender. We both had Pork 7 ways, absolutely delicious. We ended our meal with some crème brulle and home made Irish Cream. All in all a great meal. This is our favorite place to eat in Omaha,"

  • "We went for our 10yr anniversary and turned out to be a good choice. Service was polite and knowledgable of the menu. The food was very very good and appealing to the eye. It was an overall great atmosphere for our celebration. I would definitely go again and recommend it. It was snowing that night so it was very cold. Fortunately there is a parking structure right next to the resturant which is free under 3 hrs. We liked the place so much we didn't realize we stayed 2 1/2 hrs."

  • "What a wonderful jewel nestled in the middle of Omaha. It was a truly lovely dining experience. We had the 5 course chef's choice sampler meal. The pig was fed apples for 30 days before being butchered. We will go back often. The waiter was very knowledgeable. This is high class dining. Wonderful!"

  • "I loved Grey Plume, but our last visit fell so far below expectations. The restaurant was overbooked and the staff was so stressed that they became unfriendly and angry. We waited 45 minutes to be seated, despite having a reservation. It was Valentine's Day, so I tried to be extra patient. The hostess was frantic and didn't bother to apologize or even smile. Our waiter was surly - no greeting, no eye contact, no smile. We ordered from the fixed-price menu with wine pairings, but the timing was really messed up with drinks arriving long after the courses. The food was good, not up to the usual GP standards, but not bad. For a $200+ bill for two, the service was simply unacceptable."

  • "I was celebrating my birthday with a friend. The Grey Plume is a place we both know and love and we were excited all day in anticipation of spending an evening there. It was one of the best birthdays I've ever had. Impeccable service (even received a birthday card signed by the staff!), absolutely delicious food, good choice of wine (aided by Katherine), wonderful ambiance and the pleasure of the company of a very special friend. We were greeted like old friends, which always gives one the warm fuzzies. I would eat their every week if I could. Bravo on every level!"
