A word from The Grey Plume
As a new restaurant to Omaha, The Grey Plume focuses on seasonality and sustainability. We change our menu often, basing our cuisine on local farmer's supply. When possible we preserve produce from Nebraska and the region at harvest for the winter months. The Grey Plume works in partnership with The Green Restaurant Association and is the first and only Certified Green Restaurant in Nebraska. Enjoy the comfortably elegant dining atmosphere for dinner.   • "We entertained a business group of 30+ people at Grey Plume, and our out-of-town visitors were very impressed by the quality of the food and creativity of the presentation. The price was competitive with other restaurants for a group this size. Other times, we have had dinner there or have sat at the bar for "Happy Hour", and it has always been delightful."

  • "Service and ambiance were excellent as in the past. I did not think my pedimontese beef ($35) was cooked appropriately. I asked for medium and it was burn. Only one piece had some red. The rest was well done. When I mentioned it to the waiter he said that it's a difficult piece of meat so the chef has a hard time cooking it precisely. Why do they offer it then? I basically chewed on expensive cardboard but the veggies were delicious as well my first plate beef tartare) and dessert (Cyrene brûlée). It was an utter disappointment."

  • "The place haunted me over the 2 years since I was last here. I was able to replicate and add to the experience - the trout w/ creme fraise spetzel was perfect. Pork prepared 4 ways was a marvel. The wait staff are always impeccable, the kitchen crew are capable of pulling off top shelf culinary art with a "no sweat" attitude. The Grey Plume has international recognition for really good reason. They could be all stuffy about their accolades - but to top it off with being culturally accessible makes it all the more impressive. Thanks Chef Clayton Chapman for you imagination when it comes to supporting local producers, and for supporting the community with your culinary generosity! The staff is attentive without being intrusive, and Chef tries to get out to greet diners often. This is an outstanding choice for special occasions, but it is also a great option for an evening out any time. Try the bar menu, there are fun options to complement your wine or cocktail while seated up front! If you have not been to Grey Plume yet, you are missing out."

  • "Definitely one of the most memorable meals I have had in Omaha over the past 20+ years. We came to celebrate a birthday and the four of us ordered from the menu (I was very tempted to simply place ourselves in the chef's hands for the eve, but wanted to try the menu items first and was glad we did as it was C Chapman's night off). The charcuterie was mixed and creative, the asparagus soup one of the best I have eaten, and everyone was very pleased with their entrees. Wine selection was good. Overall, a very satisfying experience."

  • "I don't understand all the rave reviews. The food was good, but not great.A friend ordered the charcuterie board which we were given with no explanation. We had to request that the server tell us what was on the board. It seemed the restaurant is trying too hard to be trendy. For instance, a dessert was named "chocolate soup" with no description. When we asked the server what that was, he said it was misleading, and it was essentially chocolate cake with sauce."

The food was exquisitely prepared and each bite was tantalizing to the taste buds right from the start of the little cheese bite you are given initially down to the butter cookies on the way out. You can tell that the presentation is viewed as an art form. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone expecting high quality food prepared in a unique way in a nice, quiet atmosphere. Prices are reasonable given the quality and effort that goes into it. Thank you for a great evening out for our special day."

  • "This was a return visit for our group of four and we are all looking forward to our next visit. We sampled the amazing duck fat fries with egg and the gnocch for appetizers. We also had salad (always fresh and vibrant) and the delicious cold asparagus soup and again marveled at the way the chef is able to transform soup into an artform. We enjoyed the beef, trout, and salmon for our entree's, all perfectly prepared and beautifully arranged on the plate. Dessert included a huckleberry mousse, a magical creation of rhubarb and chocolate, and the creme' brulee addict at our table loved the citrus creme' brulee. Two of us enjoyed The Grey Plume's interesting concoctions from the bar (love the addition of fresh herbs in the drinks)."

Well, the Grey Plume met that expectation...even for our male friend who is NOT a foodie. Everyone's favorite was the duck fat fries. I imagined something greasy/heavy...not the case. At breakfast the next morning someone mentioned how they certainly could use some duck fat fries right now. Kyle, our server, is from Tampa but in culinary school in Omaha. He did an excellent job. The chef's "treat" at the beginning was yummy as well. Noise was lessened by sitting in a corner rather than middle of room"

  • "This was our first visit. The meal started with an excellent amuse-bouche. We tried grilled asparagus (cold) soup and spring green salad, both of which were excellent. We had the King Salmon and the Chevre Agnolotti. Again, they were both wonderful. We would both rate the salmon as one of the best we've ever had. If we had any complaints at all, it would only be that we had to ask for bread (we weren't sure we got any with the service, but saw other tables get some so we asked) and I wanted to try a drink I saw two other ladies had. The waiter said it was a Grapefruit Mojito. When the drink was served, it was not the same color (they had pink drinks; mine was light green), but was still okay. Great date night restaurant for foodies!"

  • "My husband and I celebrated our two-year wedding anniversary at the Grey Plume this weekend. That was probably our 15th time at the Grey Plume, and they never cease to amaze us with their creativity, unique flavors, fabulous presentation, and great service. Their ever-evolving menu keeps things interesting, and we are always excited to see what is new on the menu. They made changes to their cocktail menu and the Southern Heat (fairly new addition) is incredible!"

The Grey Plume accomplishes this with beautiful delicious food in an atmosphere that is as comfortable and friendly as your favorite neighborhood haunt. Exceptional service from an inviting and knowledgeable staff is offered in an unassuming way with the owner/chef Clayton Chapman often making the rounds to check on food or fill your water glass! Great spot for a host of reasons. Don't miss the duck fat fried donut with a dollop of homemade ice cream for dessert! With French press coffee it's a great way to finish off a terrific meal. "

  • "We had lemon, orange soda, duck fat fries, strip loin, pork, chocolate soup, pear with puff pastry and goose berry. Everything was awesome. It threw us off a little bit when the server asked if we want to add truffles on my husband's pork and an ostrich egg instead of a regular egg on duck fat fries. I think the options should be presented on the menu. Also, we asked to move to other table as the table next to us was pretty noisey. The server was graciously accommodate our request. We have been here many times and food and service are always fabulous. It is great to have such a great restaurant in Omaha. Will definitely go back soon."

  • "Once again, Plume excels. Salmon and trout were both superb, tartare and asparagus soup to start/share, wonderful Burgundy white and pecan fragipane were all TOO tasty! Only teeny concern--need two pats of butter with delicious hot rolls. I was somwhat reticent about fighting with bones, tail and head of trout, but kitchen staff removed head and rear and backbone extracted simply--no fret on the oven-roasted trout."

While the food most definitely lived up to my memory and its great reviews, the ambiance was louder and more boisterous than I remembered, and the service was sub-standard. Our server, while clearly knowledgable about the menu, seemed rushed and distracted. He attended our table while glancing elsewhere around the room, seemed frequently to misunderstand our inquiries, and on one occasion actually brought us the wrong item. His constant encouragement to upgrade our order with an expensive addition (truffles and whatnot) also seemed unbecoming to a restaurant of this caliber. I may return again some time in the future, but I will do so cautiously and with more guarded expectations."

  • "The food is wicked good. The Charcuterie board was more diverse than most, and both our meals were fantastic! My husband is not a huge mushroom fan, but after eating his tri tip, he said that the mushrooms that came with it were the best he had ever eaten! Also, the chocolate soup for dessert was so perfect. We left satisfied in every way. "
