The Grey Plume
Best dining experienceThis was an outstanding dining experience. I highly recommend it. Everything was perfect.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and service.Found the restaurant thru Yelp which stated it was the best restaurant in Omaha. Went for dinner on Friday. Ambience was great, not to noisy and restaurant was spacious. We ordered the duck fat fries, shadowbook farm's salad, and ranch bone-in wagyu ribeye. The ribeye was better than expected. Meat was soft and juicy and well seasoned. Service was great as our waiter would keep checking on us and would explain the contents of each dish.
Would definitely go again and highly recommend it to anyone who's wants a great ribeye.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous FoodThe Grey Plume was a new twist on the annual Berkshire weekend dinner at Flatiron Cafe.
It's not as elegant as the Flatiron(ambience is rather non-existent) but the food was terriffic, the service adequate, we didn't feel rushed (even on such a busy night).
Loved it. I will go back!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMI have always loved mushrooms.I have always loved mushrooms. But it wasn't until having them prepared by Chef Chapman that I realized how much. I think I can call myself a veteran of the Grey Plume and I can honestly say it continues to amaze me. The menu changes seasonally and new items will pop up now and then depending what special items become available. But what matters most is the quality, the innovation and the attention to detail that comes with each meal. I don't think anything they do is explicitly intended to be an overt demonstration of their excellence, but they pay great attention to your experience. The excellence of the Grey Plume goes above and beyond the menu. But the mushrooms alone are enough to keep me coming back.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMInteresting food!I was very happy with my experience and The Grey Plume. My wife and I went at 5:30 on a Monday, and it was very quiet (to be expected). The service was helpful and not too intrusive. The food was prepared well, and was unlike much of what is available in the Omaha area. The chef has taken time to prepare a menu that combines ingredients in a way that is unexpected, but interesting. He seems to favor competing flavors and textures, combining sweet with strong and such. The resulting meal, although not my favorite in Omaha, was an excellent experience. Foodie approved, for sure.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic ! Great foods IFantastic !
Great foods I have never had chick with stinging nettels... WOW it was great !!

Presentation is always piques the appetite and the attentive house sommelier suggests wine pairings that round out the experience. From the amuse bouche to through dessert you can't help but enjoy the flavors of each plate. All done in an intimate atmosphere that's none too pretentious, where conversation is easily had with your dinner companion(s).4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely amazing food andAbsolutely amazing food and service. The food and service are superb. I cannot even describe how tasty and delicious the food is. The portions are not huge, so you may not have left overs, but that is what we like about it. The portions are perfect for the experience and tasty beyond words. Love this place!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMIn from NYC and this was recommendeIn from NYC and this was recommended as Clayton apparently is an annual consideration for a James Beard award. The service, the presentation and the food definitely lived up to they anticipation.
I'll make a visit to GP whenever I'm in Omaha from now on.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMBest of the bestEverything from food to the service was exquisite. It was a sensory experience on every level. I love all the textures incorporated in the decoration as well as the food. If you are fan of Seasonally-driven restaurants and locally-grown food this is the place for you. Fresh food is where it's at for me and this gem did not disappoint. Everything from the mushroom appetizer to the decadent chocolate desert was to die for. We will be back soon.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat staff! Great chef! GreatGreat staff! Great chef! Great ambiance! I ordered their bison burger with prosciutto and because I don't eat a lot of red meat my taste buds didn't enjoy the burger as much I should have. Everything else was amazing!4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThis restaurant never disappoints. This restaurant never disappoints. The daily menu makes every visit new. The service is great, although sometimes pretentious, but just overlook the waiter trying to impress you with his knowledge of wine. The chef/owner is friendly and inventive pairing tastes in ways you would never think of trying, but always delivering.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMTantalizing but not romanticIt was fantastic as far as food and wine. Every morsel was a delight and unique. My only regret was the noise level simply because my husband and I rarely go out, the environment does not allow for private discussion.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a fantastic dinnerWe had a fantastic dinner at The Grey Plume. We will be back sooner than later. The rabbit dish was amazing and the steelhead trout was delicious. Wonderful evening!4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's a Winner! This was our first visit to the Grey Plume. We had heard many good things prior so my expectations were pretty high - they were met. First off the service was excellent. It was a cold wet Wednesday evening so business was slow but it seemed every member of the staff stopped by our table at least once to fill a water glass, pour wine, serve an appetizer, or just to chat. The wine service was wonderful, we brought our own bottle and the corkage fee was waved when we bought a half bottle off the wine menu. The food was fantastic from the Carcuterie board starter, to waygu steak and Chevre Agnolotti main dishes, and finally the tropical fruit flavored ice cream desert. A great place to go to enjoy a special dinner in Omaha.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMMy first time at the GreyMy first time at the Grey Plume was outstanding! The food and service were both worthy of 5 stars. A MUST visit while in Omaha!4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMHad family come in from outHad family come in from out of country and went to our favorite place for dining in the Omaha area - The Grey Plume
Greeted warmly at the door by both the wine director; Haley, and the owner of the Grey Plume; Chef Chapman.
Meals were outstanding, topped off by a delightful 2011 Donhoff Riesling Kbinett and the new desserts were delicious. Try the Chocolate and Coffee and the Beet and Carrot Semifreddo - yes...I said beet & carrot......try it.
A great evening. This is the place I want to take people when they come into town to visit for a wonderful dining experience.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThis place is on par withThis place is on par with the finest NYC restaurants. A hidden gem in America's heartland4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious food. WonderfulDelicious food. Wonderful wine list. Even though it was a busy Saturday night, we were not rushed. Food presentation is as beautiful as the taste.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is an artistic arrangementThe food is an artistic arrangement of amazing flavors. We loved every bite. We had a table of 5 so we sampled three different appetizers, the soup, four entrees, and three desserts and shared amongst ourselves. It was all delicious. The tobacco/bourbon creme brulee was so unique; never had anything like it. The service was wonderful as well. I had a couple of wine choices picked out, but the wine steward listened to what I like in a wine and steered me another direction (to a less-expensive bottle even!)and it was a perfect choice.
We cannot wait to return!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMfood is delicious. food isfood is delicious. food is creative. atmosphere is "big city". He loves to answer questions and talk about their menu, food supply vendors, wine list and every aspect of the restaurant. He certainly makes everyone feel welcome.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMSaturday night at Grey PlumeExcellent, unique cuisine, very attentive and knowledgeable staff, excellent wine and fine craft ale list. Fun ambiance in the city's new Midtown Crossing area. We will come back.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved it! Just wish the tablesLoved it! Just wish the tables were not so close together.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMNew York Bistro w Lopcavore LeaningA New York style bistro: clean, spare, modern. 15-20 tables and by the time we left at 9:00 the place was full and so was the bar.
A bright smiling young woman, our ‘guide’ for the evening, knew every item on the menu, what it was made of, how it was made and where the ingredients came from.
Complementary fresh, zippy palate cleanser. Also really good hot peasant rolls. A Vouvray was smooth and moderately priced. Also cocktails of blood orange juice, spritzer and cinnamon syrup that were so good we got the ingredients.
Charcuterie appetizer which was a wonderful collection of small tastings of meats and cheeses. Also had Duck Fat fries. Delicious soft French fries covered with a hollandaise and, oddly, a fried egg on top.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWe tried the tasting menuWe tried the tasting menu and were very satisfied with the incredible tastes that were offered. Excellent food. Great experience. Great service.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good, but not stellar.Great ambiance and incredible wait staff - knowledgeable, prompt, gave great information and made the experience excellent. The staff was also very attentive to me being gluten-free, providing good gluten free breads, etc. as ready replacements.
The food provided unique flavors, refined...but nothing came out and made me say "I have to come back again." For the repeated best of Omaha, I was satisfied, but not impressed.
The only hiccup of the night - they've got a wonderful in-house coffee roaster. Ordered lattes for coffee. First, they were out of milk...so they made with cream. Second, the beans were a bad roast...bitter, lacked in body. I'm a coffee aficionado, didn't finish it.3/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
