  • "This is a great resturant especially if you are a foodie! The chicken wing (yes, chicken wings) are fantastic and the Gnocchi Sardi Pasta with mushrooms is so yummy!! I wanted more the next day. My only wish is that I could have a straw with my cocktail!!! I know that they are not sustainable but I would be able to drink many more cocktails if there was a straw. What happened to the paper straws of the 70's? Can't they get some of those? Besides the straws....everything else was fantastic."

  • "I frequented The Greenhouse regularly a couple of years ago. I loved the food, the service, and the vibe. My visit Wednesday night changed my mind about this restaurant. The menu has been changed into an esoteric over the top bill of fare. My friends had burgers, which they did enjoy. I ordered the chicken wings which used to make me salivate in joy, not so that night. The wings were a bit dry, the presentation was horrid, a few wings on a white plate. They used to be presented in a bowl. I also ordered the kale salad. It was horrible. The kale was tough, the flavor was peculiar. I will not be returning any time soon."

  • "Took 3 clients to Greenhouse before a Tribe game. As always the Wings are the best in the city. Entree's disappointed quite a bit. 2 guys had strip steak. Taste and sauce was excellent, but smaller portion for the price charged. 2 of us had the Walleye special. Excellent taste, but ridiculously small portion. Especially for the not mentioned up front price of $32. Cocktails were a very light pour and also pricey. Julian our waiter was prompt and very professional. Enjoyed Greenhouse as I have in the past but portions disappointed and pricing was generally high compared to many other options in downtown area."

I recommend the tasting menu. I helps yo become one with the chef and the menu. Really wonderful with great service and attention to detail."

  • "After hearing and reading many good reviews of the restaurant, I decided to invite a few friends to dinner for my husband's birthday. Our server was very disappointing. He rushed through the explanation of the 5 course option and was not very knowledgeable about the wine list, but was eager to recommend a $14 glass of beer. We sat in the upstairs dining room, which was extremely hot and uncomfortable. The upside to the evening was the food, which was phenomenal! Since we had several 5-course meals at the table, we were able to sample quite a lot from the menu. Nothing was disappointing - it was all exceptional! We would definitely return for the food, but would request a different server and request a table on the main floor."

  • "got the fred flintstone ribs, while they were as big as i expected, they also had way too much fat on them. my wife got the hamburger, for the price i expected it to be bigger. the fries had large chunks of garlic in them, gross. and $9 for a draft beer is way too expensive. I feel like i wasted $100 on a less then stellar meal, i won't be returning."

  • "I had some clients in town so I decided to take them here for dinner. The décor is unique and everyone liked it. There were a lot of young professionals in their 20s-30s at the bar, which gave it good energy. The food itself was disappointing. I ordered a lamb burger and a client ordered a regular burger. Just to double check, when the food was being delivered I asked the server if I got the lamb burger. He said yes. Halfway through our burgers we realized I was eating the regular burger and my client the lamb burger (it was medium, while the regular burger was ordered well done). My burger was loaded with salt and I barely got through it. The other entrees my clients had were just okay, they weren't crazy about them"

  • "We were with people who like to share and the restaurant has portions that make it easy to do that. The beef burger was done as ordered and very tasty. The special fish of the night, walleye, had a delicious preparation. And what can you say about the pig's head that comes on a giant platter that is meant to be shared - it was very tender and easily devoured by mainly the men in our party. The kale salad was good but a little spicy for some of us."

  • "Greenhouse is one of my favorite restaurants but I was really disappointed this weekend. I almost always get the rice & bean burger. I crave it when it's been too long. It was so sub-par this visit I couldn't keep eating it. It didn't seem cooked at all & there was hardly any burger to speak of, mostly just bread. The salad it comes with was way overdressed too. I should have given them a chance to fix it but the opportunity didn't present itself until late in the meal. The firsts and seconds we had were great and I'll definitely be back, I just probably won't get that burger again."

  • "My wife and I ate at GHT for a special evening. We were a little overdressed, but still felt very comfortable ina very fun place. The food was outstanding...not weird combinations of ingredients like some "trendy" restaurants like to do, but high quality ingredients combined for excellent flavors. One of my top three meals ever! Had the pan friend pork chop saltimbocca...best pork chop I ever ate!"

  • "pricey for what you get but still good. Had the soft lettuce salad - excellent. Topped it with a veggie burger. Was warned that it is pink but that's because it is soaked in some kind of juice for flavor. The color wasn't a problem but the veggie patty was just OK. Wouldn't order it again. The fries were very good but very salty. But the do have iced green tea which is really good - especially on a warm afternoon."

  • "A group of four of us went to Greenhouse Tavern for dinner. We were seated right away and had our drink order taken as soon as we sat down. The restaurant was busy, yet we were served our food and drinks, as well as given our checks, in a timely manner. Portions were smaller than I had anticipated, but every bite was absolutely delicious. I would definitely recommend Greenhouse Tavern!"

  • "While the food was good, the service was terrible. We were entertaining guests from the west coast and eager to show off "Cleveland's finest." After waiting 10 minutes for water, our server greeted us. She reappeared 15 minutes later to take our order and when we tried to order the short rib we were informed it takes 90 minutes (not indicated on the menu..she said it used to be, but that info removed.) We requested bread...another 15 minutes later it came. During the time we waited for our food, two other tables left water and menus due to lack of service...one group went to Lola...ate...and walked past us before we even got served. This was our second (and last) disappointing visit to what is hyped as a great place for foodies."

  • "Lunch special avocado/cucumber soup was spectacular, but lamb/goat cheese French bread pizza was unremarkable. The lamb was dry as a bone, and the red pepper sauce was undetectable. This is the second time I've been to Greenhouse, and unfortunately, I'm still not getting what all the buzz is about. I much prefer Noodlecat, frankly."

  • "A friend recommended this location to me so we were excited to go try it while in Cleveland. Unfortunately it did not live up to expectations though. They did have a gluten free menu, and were able to accommodate my other allergies, but the waitress didn't seem very knowledgeable on those menus and was not very enthusiastic about answering some questions. The food was good, but not outstanding, and the service wasn't great. We finished our food and then went to another location for drinks and some fun because we felt rushed out of this location. We would not go back."

  • "We have visited Greenhouse Tavern on several occasions, and have had a good dining experience each time. This time we brought along family, and they appreciated the food as much as we have in the past. My biggest suggestion is to try something that you would not otherwise be comfortable eating. I would not normally order a salmon crudo, but went out on a limb this trip, and it was a very flavorful dish that I thoroughly enjoyed. The fifth quarter is always interesting, and worth the risk. This trip's option was rather tame (duck sausage on toasted bread), but was extremely flavorful. The desserts continue to be innovative, and quite delicious. My chocolate soufflé was complex, using cola, rooibos tea, and strawberries."

Chef Jonathan Sawyer does not fail to deliver amazingly creative cuisine. Great service and fun ambiance. Don't miss the Popcorn Pot de Creme for dessert."

  • "This restaurant has many options for vegetarians. My girlfriend had the Double Decker Rice and Beans Burger, which she loved. I am not a vegetarian, and I had difficulty finding something that appealed to me. I had the Ohio Beef Burger, which was very good. The Pig Head and the Fred Flintstone Beef Short Rib were by far the most expensive items on the menu, with most of the other items ranging between $16 to $25. The atmosphere was relaxed yet could be romantic. It has a VHS library/bicycle shop decor. We dined inside, but there is a patio available in front on the E 4th St. alley."

It was good, but I've usually been more adventurous with my choices and been suitably rewarded. I will be back again, and will select something more interesting."

  • "Food was very good. But if you are expecting to order the pigs head, I would recommend coming in for lunch. I had to move my reservations 2x and even made a phone call to the restaurant to confirm that I would still be able to order the pigs head but was so dis -appointed that by the time we arrive at 5 pm it was all gone. I had traveled all the way from Houston Texas. Green house tavern gave us a substitute but still we wanted the wow factor. Green house tavern needs to come up with a better way to stock up with this particular menu. But over all the food was great. "

  • "We had a great overall experience, from making the reservation( which was by far the simplest and most efficient system I have yet to encounter), to the service, food (Great!!!), and ease of getting there. The only thing I did not like very much was the $15.00 valet fee. You can be sure I will find another way to get there should I decide to return. I live on the East side and usually dine at Bravo, or Mitchell's, or XO Steaks . The most I've ever paid for Valet service is $5.00.. "

  • "I'll admit, I saw Greenhouse Tavern featured on Bizarre Foods a while back. I have been wanting to eat here ever since, and I was not disappointed. My parents and I arrived early on Thursday night and we were seated immediately. Our server, Adam, was very knowledgable about the menu, which is always changing. Dad and I ordered the Chef's Tasting, and all three of us shared the various starters and appetizers. Dad ordered the beef ribs and mom ordered the strip steak, both excellent. The mussels in foie gras sauce and the spicy chicken wings confit were also excellent. I had the half pig's head, which is everything a meat lover could ask for. Try to remember the best pulled pork you've ever had- it's like that only much more decadent."

  • "My boyfriend and I have been going to The Greenhouse Tavern for years now and we have never had a complaint! We started off with the bacon wrapped date. As always this item on the menu was delicious. So smooth, salty, and sweet. A perfect start to our meal. They now have Fried Chicken on their menu and let me tell you, it tastes amazing!!!! The skin is crispy (like how it's supposed to be) and the meat is tender and juicy. It was delicious. All that and the honey butter and spices really made this chicken mouth watering. An addition to our chicken we also ordered pomme frites. They were perfect. All the pomme frites were fried evenly and the garlic aioli complemented it very well. We will definitely be back! "

  • "I first heard of this restaurant on the Travel Channel, a show called Bizarre Foods: America. It was an episode that centered in Cleveland, and... Well. This restaurant not only met my expectations, it far exceeded them. My mother an I took a weekend's trip up to the city, just to get away from it all, and we made reservations for the restaurant around 8:30 at night. Because it was nighttime it was fairly dark (obviously) so it was actually fairly dim inside. They have a very extensive drink list, consisting of many coffees, teas, sodas and of course alcoholic beverages. We went there mainly for the roasted pig's head though. It was sooo amazing. This is definitely worth a try."

  • "We took our two daughters there (both under 7). The staff was great. They made them delicious Shirley Temples and ensured they had a great time at a "fancy" restaurant. Our food was tremendous - we got the "omelet" app, the gnocchi second, a kids chopped salad, a burger, an order of fries and the Fred Flintstone short rib. Everything was outstanding (and the short rib was quite a sight). We tipped the kitchen and the kids got to ring the bell on the way down to the basement. They got a big kick out of the cheering from the staff. Anyway, do not fret about taking kids here (early, of course). The staff is great and our kids liked everything."
