The Green RoomBEST BREAKFASTThe Green Room has become our restaurant of choice for breakfast. The food tastes homemade (as opposed to fast) with stone ground grits and thick applewood bacon - Yum! The french toast is made with homemade baquettes. Many dishes stray a little from the traditional but better. Haven't had the opportunity to try lunch because we always come for breakfast but anxious to try many of the interesting offerings.6/16/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyableWe enjoyed the dinner, though my Trout dinner entrée was unfortunately burnt which they did replace. Our Bloody Mary's were delicious as well as our Calamari. The atmosphere was very relaxing with a view of the street.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMBest gourmet French friesBest gourmet French fries ever - ordering a small bowl as an appetizer is a must! Three in party and all tried something different and were all pleased - my husband really bragged about his steak. Half price wine on Sunday's after 4 pm is a good deal - atmosphere was bustling even on a rainy Sunday evening.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMNeighborhood FavoriteWith all of the larger restaurants in Greenville, TGR often gets overlooked. After eating here several times, the food is consistently phenomenal with a great atmosphere. Plus, you get a great menu selection without the snobby feel. One of my faves of Greenville!6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMOur food was very good butOur food was very good but the service was extremely slow. It took us 35 minutes to get our lunch.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstandingWe have dined at The Green Room numerous times. It has been consistently good in all categories. Food is wonderful. Service is superb. Each time we have had a reservation and we were seated immediately. Great place!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMDon't miss the startersEverything we had was very good. The only problem was figuring out which starter to go with. We had the tuna tacos to start off but could have ordered 3 helpings to make a meal out of them. But the one don't miss is the meatloaf. It was outstanding.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMBusy night in townGreat food. Great service. Seemed to be a good vibe inside. We sat outside on a busy, beautiful night in G-Vegas (BMW Tournament, Greek Festival, outdoor concerts) and enjoyed the crowd swirling by our table. (If you sit outside, ask to sit on the street side of the sidewalk rather than next to the building. The latter's a bit too crowded, but acceptable.) There was a nice range of options on the menu. I had TGR meatloaf. My wife: salmon. Both were huge (we'll share something next time) and well prepared. Interesting sides. Condiments and spices seem a little heavy-handed but not ruinously so. Friendly, attentive waiter. We'll be back.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMthankful for the wine.It was incredibly stuffy from the moment we walked in. The hostess, dressed in a tshirt and shorts, barely even greeted us before pointing to our table. It took 20 minutes for a waitress to arrive and when she did she admittedly said that they forgot about our table. Way to make em feel special, eh?
After she took our order we had to wait another 20 for our appetizer and our main course came out 5 minutes after that. Sigh. What saved the night was how delicious the food was. The chefs skills are unmatchable for what I've seen so far in Greenville. Amazing taste, texture, and perfectly blended flavours.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything on the menu lookedEverything on the menu looked delicious, so deciding on a meal was difficult. We started with the ahi mini tacos which were crunchy and flavorful, loved the mango slaw and guacamole, great flavor combination. Ceasar side salad was enough for the two of us to share, homemade croutons, crisp lettuce, freshly made dressing. My husband had the seafood pasta, scallops and shrimp were superb, mussels slightly chewy, broth well-seasoned. I had the scallops with polenta and asparagus, scallops were some of the best I have had, not a huge fan of the polenta, was to be topped with a lemon-basil-butter sauce which was very minimal (think polenta would have been better if dish saucier). Nice, cozy ambience, a bit on the warm side. Would return.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAffordable great foodDecided to try this new place out downtown before a show and just loved the quaintness of the atmosphere when walking in. The brick walls made it feel like an Italian restaurant and gave it some ambiance. Liked that you didn't have to dress up and they take reservations too. Waitress was cheerful and energetic. Food was gourmet but nothing too froo-froo and tasted great! Prices were reasonable. Would highly recommend this for a somewhat casual meal. Only downfall was that we didn't have time to try the dessert--will have to come back and do that next time!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMA Fine Food PlaceWe enjoyed our dinner and our waiter gave fine service and was pleasant. We did eat during "Artisphere" downtown and there were many people in town which contributed to the higher noise level and excitement. The manager was checking the servings before they left the kitchen to be served to make sure they were just right. We spoke with him briefly and he asked was all well. We told him that "The Green Room" had been recommended by Santa several years before. He seemed pleased with Santa's endorsement.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Green Room experienceMy first and so far only experience at the Green Room, for lack of better words, was perfect. I had a first date there and was thoroughly impressed as was she. Great service, atmosphere, food, and wine! 5 Stars!5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMNice After Work SpotA friend and I met at The Green Room last night for a quick meal and much needed happy hour. We had a wonderful server, amazing food, and great drinks. All around, I throughly enjoyed the restaurant.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMBest sweet potato fries inBest sweet potato fries in town!! great value! every dish I have tried has been exultant5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWill soon return for more!My wife and I both had great meals prior to an 8:00pm symphony performance on a rainy Saturday evening. Our shared mussel appetizer and etrees of shrimp and grits and crab cakes were excellent, as was the service. Great flavors and a unique presentation on the shrimp and grit entree. Will definitely return soon. The Green Room is one of, now, three restaurants under the same ownership--the other two being Ford's (cajun and also very good) and the new Sip, a rooftop winebar.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMA Great Place for any mealWe have eaten brunch, lunch and dinner at the Green Room and have been blown away by all of them. The food is delicious! I highly recommend their Lil Pigs BBQ sandwich and the BBQ Sliders. The Green Room salad is fantastic. My husband loves he crab cakes and thought the duck was excellent. We have not been disappointed with anything and have also had great service.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperb downtown optionGreen Room is in good company in downtown Greenville, SC. Another establishment serving just superb food. We had a group of six and not a one of us had anything other than a wonderful course.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner 4/27/13We have visited The Green Room many times prior. The reason we continue to go back is the great menu and wine selections. We have always found the service to be very good. Finally, the fact that they have always had valet service has been a welcome service.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMAnniversaryTook my wife here for our anniversary....great service at the bar and table. Very good food and a good bar selection...will recommend to others and will go again.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was excellent andThe food was excellent and our wait staff was extremely friendly.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was very good andThe food was very good and our waitress was outstanding.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a great place! The foodWhat a great place! The food was excellent and atmosphere intimate enough.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWe made reservations for EasterWe made reservations for Easter Sunday brunch and were given a table by the window. Loved the location and the food was delicious. It took a little longer than we expected, but we enjoyed ourselves nonetheless. The only negative is that they were out of whole wheat bread to accompany our meals3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went for brunch. The mealWe went for brunch. The meal was outstanding!! The crab benedict was amazing!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMOur dinner was great. WeOur dinner was great. We have eaten at a number of Greenville's restaurants and were a bit reluctant to try a different restaurant.. We were impressed with the food and service at the Green Room and will definitely go back! The fish tacos were superb! We also enjoyed the spinach artichoke dip and the duck and salmon! The experience was so good we can't wait to go back to the Green Room!3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Green Room is a a greatThe Green Room is a a great find: a restaurant whose menu has real 'foodie' slant without any of the attitude that sometimes comes with that type of focus. The waitstaff was friendly and efficient and the food was excellent. The salmon entree that one of our party ordered was cooked perfectly. The duck breast and duck leg confit I had was likewise perfectly prepared. Wine list is not huge, but has some very good selections. And if you order steak frites, get ready to break your resolution to slow down on french fry consumption: their truffle-parmesan fries are impossible push away from.
Highly recommended.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and service. OurGreat food and service. Our entrees were simple yet prepared perfectly. Can't wait to try other items on the menu. Great beer and wine selection too.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good food and ambiance,Very good food and ambiance, glad I discovered it!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThey honored our request forThey honored our request for a booth 'with a view' - of the 3 TV screens so we could watch the March Madness games scheduled for the night of our reversations. Our table was at the PERFECT spot!!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Little Neighborhood PlaceWe had a wonderful experience. Definitely get reservations because seating is limited. I had the Lamb chop special and my wife had the signature meat loaf. Both were great. We split the bruschetta app and the creme brulle desert. It all was prepared perfectly, served correctly and presented nicely. Would definitely recommend.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMVery interesting and someVery interesting and some different dishes. Meatloaf was awesome. Nice wine and bar choices. A good find for a tourist.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMLocal gemThe Green Room is an example of why there is so much buzz about the Greenville food scene. The food is delicious with very friendly staff. A plus is having breakfast choices at lunch. Every dish I tried was well prepared and presented. The prices are moderate compared to comparable downtown restaurants and the portions are generous. The menu has lots of variety. I can't wait to go back.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMAs usual, delicious!Ambience was livelier than usual since it was Saturday night before St Patrick's Day.
As usual, the food and service were outstanding! Cocktail recipes are very good, as well.
Overall, the Green Room is wonderful, and is our favorite.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMIf you crave meatloaf this is placeWe went to the Green Room for the meatloaf and it didn't disappoint. There were three of us and only one person had tried the meatloaf before and she spoke so highly of it that we all ordered it and we were glad we did. It really is good and the creamed peas that accompany it are very tasty.. The mac and cheese is also very good but you can substitute for the any of the sides if you wish. Huge portions lend themselves to a nice lunch of leftovers the next day. There was a good crowd on a Thursday night but not so much hustle and bustle that you couldn't have easy conversation.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMDowntown bar/restaurant withDowntown bar/restaurant with breakfast menu until 5 pm in addition to regular menu. Good breakfast with limited selections. Could use more omelette choices and more "healthy" selections on regular menu. Nice atmosphere with attentive waitstaff. Will return.12/28/2012 12:00:00 AMA smallish, downtown gem withA smallish, downtown gem with an all-day (until 5 pm) brunch menu in addition to its regular offerings makes for a great lunch venue. A long bar and booth seating gives an atmosphere of intimacy. Some sidewalk seating in good weather. Menu is varied enough for most tastes. Attentive servers, good food and a nice atmosphere. Will return.12/22/2012 12:00:00 AMGreat little gem in dntwn GnvleI enjoyed the fact that it was a small restaurant. The ambiance was relaxing yet lively (I thought it could be both). The food was well prepared and the wait staff were very attentive. The Truffle French Fries were fantastic (worth the $2 charge)! I will definitely go back to try some of the other items on their menu.1/1/0001 4:00:00 PM
