  • "This was my first visit to The Green Room. Seeing positive comments on-line, I invited two guests for lunch. We ordered the BLT with parmesan fries, the shrimp Po'Boy with shoestring fries, and a breakfast plate of French Toast. The food was not awful, but barely okay. Certainly, not memorable. In my opinion - the parmesan fries are NOT special. My guest who ordered the shoestring fries said that he liked them, but thought they tasted exactly like fries from McD's. Worse than the food was the service. Our waitresses never smiled. She and the rest of the staff were just sour. The restaurant was not full, and we waited 45 minutes for our meals. With so many amazing restaurants downtown Greenville, can't not imagine why I would return."

  • "we've been there twice. really good food...best grits.very good servers for both visits. nice decor. only complaint is our table was in tight path to the bathrooms, and i was bumped twice from behind. still, we will continue to go for all the other good things."

  • "The food is always great inThe Green Room. We had a burger, truffle fries, and a plate of calamari. The burger was do e to perfection and really tasty. The calamari was served in a hot, fruity sauce which was delicious. The truffle fries are addictive, so watch out!"

  • "Unfortunately we did not take the advice of other diners. Take mine, please. The crab cakes had so much bread filling and arrived burnt on one side (turned down so hopefully we wouldn't see it) and they were cold inside. Sending them back to the kitchen didn't resolve the issue. The trout was deep fried and had honey poured over the top. The only decent thing we had was the taco appetizers. Neither of us finished our dinner and I took my date down the street to Rick Erwins Nantucket Restaurant were we got an order of the crab cake appetizers. TGR chefs.... do yourself a favor... go down the street and taste some real crab cakes. Oh... and call Gordon Ramsey... you qualify for an episode of Kitchen Nightmares!"

  • "good food, nice place, but TGR needs to take a look at their HVAC. The air circulating inside is questionable. Maybe they were having issues with the HVAC unit, but they didn't make us aware so we thought it was just a normal night. The food is something to return for, as long as they get the funky air taken care of. The place just had a moldy smell that made things sort of unpleasant."

  • "Not the best brunch menu. French dip roll was to "bready". Roast beef was nothing special. My wife had eggs which were fine. Overall the menu needed abit more fluff for brunch. Great wait staff."

  • "My 16 and 21 year old kids ate there for Father's Day. I asked about specials. The waitress said there were none but I had just her someone else say there were. She went inside and then gave me the specials. We had bloody Mary's. They took a very long time to get. Overall the waitress was not attentive. I ordered the steak medium is was well. My son's dish was more like a fast food chain. We were very underimpressed with the brunch as we had been told it was a good Sunday spot. The outside dining was perfect. I only wish the food and service had also been as good."

  • "My wife and I wanted to have a special dinner with a friend that was returning to France. We all had something different for dinner, which says great things about the menu. Limited, like quality restaurants typically do, but with a enough selections to satisfy a multitude of tastes. I had the ribeye with truffle pommes frites, which was excellent. My wife enjoyed her scallops so much we teased her about licking the plate. Our guest had the salmon and it too left no traces on the plate. Our other guest had the crab cakes, which she seemed to enjoy as well. Our waitress was attentive and knew the menu. We lucked out and got the window seat, which is quite nice for downtown Greenville."

  • "Visiting for business and this place was highly recommended, but I am unclear why. However, I asked what they are "known" for and because I am not a fan of meatloaf I opted for a crab cake appetizer and lamb chops. I received a burnt/charred crab cake (that's a first) followed by a charred lamb chop with a rare - which seems fine, but when I opened it up (by the way.... it was so DARK in the room had to use my iphone to see) to eat and I found a dried, old piece of meat with no juice - just raw with a hint of warmth (that's a stretch). I returned it, and left for the evening. Underwhelmed to say the least. Very kind staff, but I think I would have had better food at my hotel bar (if that doesn't 'splain it - not sure what would)...."

  • "I took my Mom and Sister there to celebrate Mother's Day on Saturday evening. We were unanimous that we'd all come back. The service was excellent. Their Parmesan truffle fries were worth the trip, but do not miss the desserts. We shared an outstanding pistachio cheesecake and three berry cobbler. They were outstanding. Portions are very large so you will leave full! And because the atmosphere is so nice, you will stay for a while. "

  • "The food was great, the location convenient, the service was very good. I had asked for a window booth when I made the reservation a day in advance, but that didn't happen. Oh well, can't have it all. The fried sweet potatoes are the best! The pan-seared rib-eye is quite good. The corn-crusted trout not so. The place got a bit noisy when a group was seated across from us but I expect that in any popular restaurant these days. Overall a good experience. "

  • "Food was terrible. I have never had worse, dryer grits anywhere else in the south. Veggies were just so so...what we make at home on a regular night for ourselves for veggies is just as good if not better. Meatloaf pretty good, but peas that came with it tasted like out of the can. Waitress was terrible. Slow service, couldn't describe the special or give input on what different dishes were like. We were also running late and tried to call to let them know to push back reservations an no one would pick up the phone. Called 5 times. We had heard go things about Green Room so we were extremely disappointed. I would have rather just eaten at home. "

  • "E went at 11:30 on a Thursday and service was extremely slow despite only having three tables with guests. Food always takes painfully Long to receive. Meatloaf is awesome. Steak salad amazing. Truffle fries are great. Kids menu is not advertised but they have one with good selections. I would go back but order quickly since the food takes forever."

  • "Would highly recommend The Green Room, as it was highly recommended to me by several different people. There were so many things on the menu we wanted to try, we will definitely be back - and want to try the brunch as well. Truffle fries were to die for. Service was awesome, we told the waitress we were going to see a show at the Peace Center and she made sure we were finished in plenty of time to get there on time. Recommend getting a reservation if possible, it's a small restaurant and fills up fast!"

  • "We have eaten at the Green Room several times because we love the food! Being in the middle of a very busy downtown area, their valet parking service is a big bonus for them. One small complaint I had last Saturday night was that the fish special I ordered was a bit overcooked. I told our server, who offered to have the chef cook another piece. I really didn't want to wait, so they comped a glass of wine instead. Their tuna tacos and truffle fries are the BEST!"

  • "I will be back! We had a great experience. It would've been perfect had it not been for delay in getting the wine we ordered and the slightly overcooked salmon, although tasty. The variety of butters and flavored oil with the flavorful rolls was very fun but would've been better if the butters were not seemingly frozen, which made it brittle and difficult to spread. The calamari was surprisingly the most memorable food; the sweet and spicy sauce was fantastic with the tender calamari. The seasoned vegetables were flavorful yet crispy and not overcooked. The steak was perfectly cooked. Overall, the experience was very memorable! We look forward to visiting again!"

  • "The food is normally VERY good. We had an issue with the porkchop. Part of it was cooked perfectly the other part was rare. We showed the server the very rare part and she went back to the kitchen. She came back, told us the chef said that rare pork is now acceptable ( no more trichnosis). That's fine, however if that is the case and they are now cooking pork Rare, the server should ask at what temp do you want your pork cooked. Clearly the chop wasn't cooked all the way through, and the chef was making excuses for it. If you have a steak it isn't half done and half undone. We were very suprised that neither the chef nor the manager came out to comment as they should have."
