The Green Room at the Hotel du PontMust visit in WilmingtonThis Iconic restaurant in Wilmington is a must visit. It is unique and unmatched for it's excellent cusine and atmosphere. The historic dinning room is a feast for the eyes and takes you back to the days of the giants of industry and commerce. My partner and I enjoyed the tasting menu which was a three course selection of outstanding original composition and presentation. Each dish was a work of art.
We received a complementary pre meal shooter which was well enjoyed.
I recommend the Green Room to anyone who is looking for the highest level dining experience in New Castle County and rivals what is available in Philadelphia. I rely on the Green Room to celebrate every important occasion.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMgood experienceBrunch: a wide variety of food selections, lovely service , in elegant surroundings.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything about this restaurantEverything about this restaurant was perfect - the menu, food, wine, wait staff/servers, décor, live piano dinner music - but it closes early (9:30 p.m.) for a downtown restaurant, so we felt the need to leave a bit faster than we would have liked. I would absolutely return and recommend this dining establishment.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperbI cannot say enough about this restaurant. It is in a charming room with lots of character. We started out with crab cakes that were wonderfully presented individually. I had their chickory and pear salad which was delicious and again beautifully presented. The highlight however were the scallops almond crusted which were the best scallops I have ever had. They were a mix of sweet and savory and out of this world delicious!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMterrific! To the Green Room--thanks for a terrific dining experience! The Room, Lobby, and adjoining rooms exhibiting the Wyeth and Pyle paintings are truly remarkable.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMDelightful diningWe made an early reservation for a large party to celebrate three college graduations and we were very very pleased. Service was superb, food delightful and the wine list extensive. Our waitress was adept in helping us select wines for the table that were both excellent and within our budget. A pianist located in the alcove above the dining area provided quiet entertainment, but did not interfere with conversation. Portions as to be expected here were not large, but were elegantly presented. The surf and turf was the exception; with two portions of filet, it could have been shared The saute special- corvina with lobster rice had big chunks of lobster (whole claw meat in one case) with a perfectly prepared portion of the fish.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely place for a special dinnerWe stayed at the Hotel Dupont which was absolutely lovely itself but dinner at the Green Room was the icing on the cake. The room is pure Old World elegance which is hard to find nowadays. The food was fresh and modern French cuisine which made for a perfect dichotomy. Service was excellent with just the right amount of wait time between courses. The brunch the next day looked spectacular but with children $38 a head was just too pricey for us. Definitely seemed worth it if that was your main meal of the day. Again the room is breathtaking and the set up for brunch was beautiful. Definitely going to try to return there for brunch someday.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWE were celebrating graduationWE were celebrating graduation as a family. Our table was lovely, the food was great, the atmosphere was wonderful, they had a piano player playing. Wonderful night!!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMElegant & historic100 yr old room. Food was excellent as expected in such a reputable restaurant, with courses arriving at perfect intervals. Not one complaint of food, service and ambience - 5-star experience!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMMother DayWe brought my mom for Mother's Day; they were wonderful. The only snag? Their valets were pretty slow with our car.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMOut of their wayIn the comment section of our reservation we noted that we would need gluten-free options. Not only was everything prepared GF, but they even had GF bread on the table..that never happens! They made us feel very special. It was a great celebration for mother's day!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMVery nice for Mother's Day lunchFood was excellent, as was the staff. Beautifully decorated.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial OccasionThe Green Room was the best restaturant I could think of to bring that special person - and she loved it!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial Evening OutI selected The Green Room for a special evening out when my mother was in town to celebrate Mother's Day. We had tickets for the evening show at the DuPont Theater, and with their available Prix Fixe menu, it was a great option. The restaurant was beautifully appointed, and the piano music was very nice. The service was outstanding, as were our menu choices. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. Many restaurants claim to have a five star dining experience, but The Green Room has truly earned the rating.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMLove to be pamperedThe Green Room provides a noteworthy experience for dinner with high marks for service, food quality, and old world charm.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMIt is much better to go forIt is much better to go for early dinner. Strawberry gazpaucho soup was amazing, duck entree was lean and absolutely outstanding. Desserts delicious. Veggie side dishes were perfect: creamy mashed potatoes and au natural mixed vegetables. Really a special place!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThis restaurant is elegant,This restaurant is elegant, and the service is quite refined and attentive. The food was marvelous. I had a tender chicken breast - it almost melted in my mouth.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWe decided to participateWe decided to participate in this year's Dining Out in Wilmington and chose the Green Room. My boyfriend had not been there since he was a child; nearly 40 years ago. Being there again brought back many childhood memories of his visits to the Green Room with his parents for Sunday Brunch and holidays. It was nice to see that the service, ambiance and food were still being upheld to standards from years ago. This is a dining experience we will both remember. And it won't be another 40 years before we come back!4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMJazzed Up Green RoomImpossible to be disappointed with the food or service. Stay away if you're not a fan of Jazz.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMnot in the restaurant weekWe went there during the restaurant week and the portions were very very small..
the portions were way too small even compared to the previous restaurant week's.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWe ate at the Green Room TuesdayWe ate at the Green Room Tuesday night during Wilmington Restaurant week. A good time to eat there when the chefs are allowed to be creative. Our dishes were nothing we have ever seen on the regular menu and very good. The only quibble of the evening was that the service started out very slow. It took 10 minutes to even see water on the table, but after that service improved. We will certainly return for this event as well as the Delaware Dines Out. The chefs always outdo themselves with new tasty combinations.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMRegular menu was way too expensiveRegular menu was way too expensive for regular dining, but we went for restaurant week, and I would go again for such an event. Everything on the wine list was extremely expensive - it was more economical to get a cocktail with twice the amount of alcohol! I spent some time in the Green Room bar, which was beautiful and very old-fashioned looking with comfy chairs, but there was only one bartender, and he wasn't very fast.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMA beautiful dining room that'sA beautiful dining room that's like stepping back into the golden age -- a wonderful place to enjoy a leisurely lunch with an old friend.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAnniversary DinnerWe enjoyed a wonderful meal, with attentive service, in a relaxing atmosphere. What else can you say?4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWe thoroughly enjoyed brunchWe thoroughly enjoyed brunch before seeing a show in the DuPont theater. The buffet selection had something for every taste. The piano really was a great addition to the atmosphere. Very friendly happy staff. Will definitely do this again4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMNot the first time for myNot the first time for my wife and I, and definately not the last. All aspects of the evening was without exception. Preparation was perfect, service was attentive and obscure at the same time. Highly recommend for a romantic dining experience.
I was apprehensive about making the online reservation, but it was simple.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my wife's birthdayThis was my wife's birthday dinner, followed by a concert in Hotel DuPont's Gold Ballroom. It was a perfect evening! At the end of the meal, my wife said, "We should come here more often!"3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThis place is a gem. We hadThis place is a gem. We had breakfast, but a breakfast like no other. The menu was superb, the service quiet, friendly and attentive.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a lovely evening atWe had a lovely evening at The Green Room. The food, from the appetizers to the desserts, was unique and delicious. Part of the enjoyment of the evening is how old and beautiful the dining room is. Everywhere you look there is beauty. We chose the Green Room because it was double wedding anniversary--a 15th and a 55th. We were highly satisfied with our experience.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMOld Warm Charm Exceptional Food --What a lovely experience we had recently at the Green Room in the Hotel DuPont. A few close family and I went there to celebrate my husband's 75th birthday. It was truly special. We were treated like royalty. My husband is gluten free and that was no problem at all. Two in our party enjoyed the Chef's Tasting menu and it couldn't have been better. Two of us had the special Scallop and Tuna special which was to die for.... The food and presentation were simply perfection! Cheers for this Old World charm with exceptional chef, food and staff!3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's an experience you can't missThe Green Room at Hotel du Pont never disappoints. We celebrated our anniversary here, along with our 6-year-old son. It was a very good experience for him, too. We really appreciate a restaurant that accommodates children (by offering food choices just for kids and great service) without dumbing-down the adult menu or sacrificing quality or service. The Green Room handles this superbly. Our frisée and golden beet salads were delicious. The surf-and-turf and scallops entrées were scrumptious. We were too full for dessert, but we got the Hotel's famous complimentary macaroon cookies to go - couldn't pass those up! The decor in the Green Room is comfortable, very ornate and beautiful - never get tired of looking up at that ceiling!3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband and I were at theMy husband and I were at the Green Room to celebrate his 41st year anniversary working with the Dupont Company. The Room is very impressive, romantic and elegant. Our meal was excellent and very well prepared. The dessert was a work of art and was delicious too! Overall, it was a very enjoyable and memorable dining experience.3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband and I thoroughlyMy husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and breakfast in the green room!
