  • Obviously it's a business
    OpenTable Diner Since 2010

Obviously it's a business hotel, and we were there on a weekend (Friday night). We were the only people in a cavernous dining room. The wine list isn't all that exhaustive. (no poully-fuisse, for example). Lists wines by winery name but not grape variety. Ordered surf and turf. The "turf" was lobster that was dry and tough. We thought perhaps it wasn't Maine lobster, so we asked the waitress (who was very nice). But she didn't even know. Maybe it's better when there are other people around.

A party of 6 went to celebrate a birthday party. We arrived at 7:00 PM, the beautiful dining room had only a handful of tables occupied for rest of the evening. Elegant, great service, excellent food and soft background live piano music. Quite elegance would best describe this bastion of tradition form the early 1900's. I've dined there many times over the last 50 years, not much has changed and it should not.

My wife and I were there to celebrate our 20th wedding aniversity. The staff really took care of us and made us feel special while we were there. We ended up ordering the Chef's Blind Six Coarse dinner with wine pairings. Our dinner transformed into a culinary adventure. We experenced food we would never have ordered and it was all incredible. Yes we will be back next year.

An adequate menu, nothing very creative, not outstanding. Was satisfied with Chef's three course menu, although matching wines were just OK. It was Friday evening and there were two tables filled, 50 empty. Delightful Viet Namese server.

My friends and I had the prix fix meal with wine pairings at a total of $65. I thought the price moderate. Size of servings were small. The entre of duck was wonderful, just the correct doneness. They rn out of the aprocit tart, but subbed with a delicilous chocolate plate. Our server Sara and her assistants were very attentive. Sara made sure we saw the Wyeth paintings in the Brandwine room.

The style of the brunch menu at the Hotel DuPont is pleasing in that there is a buffet for appetizers and dessert with the main course ordered off the menu. The corn chowder was outstanding as well as the desserts. Drinks are included in the price. If you want a high class brunch, this is the place.

    Dined on 8/11/2012
I went with my husband for an anniversary dinner. It had been a decade since I last visited The Green Room, and the overall experience was much different than I remembered. Since we are in a tough economic climate, I assumed that it was not going to be as crowded as it used to be and I was right. The staff and servers were very helpful and attentive, but seemed to lack the finesse that I remembered. It seems more understated and casual now. (Several men I saw were wearing khakis and polo shirts) I would recommend and go back to this restaurant for a special occasion dinner with my family and friends.

I've dined at the Green Room before. For a quiet dinner with great food served European Style this place is the best. The prices are appropriate for the quality of the food, service and setting. We went for a Anniversary Dinner this time and complimentary champagne and small chocolate cake was served. It was delicious but we also orderd dessert anyway having already anticipated the treat. World famous macaroons were served with the coffee.

It started out with an undesirable table even though the reservation was make weeks ago. Seems the hotel had a show that night with all tables booked. As it turned out only 4 tables showed. HOWEVER, we were treated like royalty. We were treated to champagne, a free bottle of wine and 2 free desserts. Every one bent over backwards to provide us with great service.
