    The food was absolutely amazing! The atmosphere was lovely and intimate. There was a little confusion with our table at first and the wait staff was a little sub par. However, we still had an amazing time and would certainly recommend this place to friends and we would go back, we'll just keep our fingers crossed that the staff will have more "serving training" by that time.

    The Green Room at the Hotel du Pont is one of my favorite places to go. It has the charm of yesteryear and the food is worth every penny. This is not the place to go if you are watching your pennies but it is a great treat. I have never received bad service here. It is top notch on service and food. Our waiter made everyone feel noticed, respected and welcome. We took our 19 & 20 years old daughters to The Green Room for a special Christmas celebration and the place was decorated beautifully, it felt like Christmas.

    The Green Room is a very elegant dining room with a fairly traditional French inspired menu. The ambience is great, the live piano music was very pleasant (younger folks might find the music selection a bit old fashioned, but for me who grew up in the forties it was great). The quality of the food is first class, the menu is not adventurous, but the overall experience is excellent. My wife and I went there to celebrate our wedding anniversary and it was most appropriate for that occasion.

    While our server was very personable,the service overall was disorganized.The wine list was suprisingly limited as and when we asked for advice ,the sommelier never bothered to stop at our table,he instead gave the waitress a couple of recommendations for bottles that were twice the price of the 2 bottles we asked about,both of which were priced in the mid range.The wine then did not get to out table until after our appetizers were already cleared from the table. The room is magnificient and the food was well prepared although the menu was very limited with only 5 entrees. Also there were some jarringly odd touches.The wine list pages were in plastic sheets similar to a diner menu and the carpet and the chairs are worn and stained.

    This was a great place for our office Christmas dinner. I received only positive comments from all our employees and their guests. My dinner was superb. The level of service was just right; not too little or too much. This was my first visit to the Green Groom in almost 5 years and I can say that the quality was and is still top notch.

    Ambiance excellent, beautiful architecture and decorative features...elegant. Food beautifully presented. Service insensitive. Our server seemed to be in a hurry. We were seated at 8pm and were perusing the wine list with some lively conversation, since we were together after some absence. After being asked for more time on the wine list (one or two bottles,...several wines by the glass) our server went to one of our party and asked for her dinner order. He continued the order taking around the table,...only after this did he take the wine and drink order. I asked if he was in a hurry,...he denied it. Don't know, really, what his motivation was,...it just felt like we were getting a rush.

    It was our first time at this restaurant. Gorgeous room. We were meeting family to celebrate a birthday. Part of our group was late to arrive but they didn’t rush us. We were seated and bloody Mary cocktails while we waited for the rest of the party. The pianist was a wonderful touch. We loved that part was buffet with lots of choices. Main entrée was off menu: enjoyed the tender juicy Bison and Nuevo’s rancheros with duck eggs. They accommodated my 7 year old picky eater nephew who would only eat French fries and chicken nuggets…which was not in the menu. The waitpersons were attentive. Lastly, I just want to thank the host. The birthday song, candle and cake moment will be cherished.

    Elegant room, food and service. Room is totally sumptuous; beautiful chairs, linens, art, and tall windows with incredible window treatments as well as gold-gilt chandeliers and lovely jazz piano. Food is excellent and consistent, all the way to the cup of coffee at the end of the meal. Service is excellent for the most part; breakfast service did not have the level of attention to the customer that usually marks a stay at the Hotel DuPont.

    I took my daughter there for her 30th birthday. I was extremely disappointed with their new menu. The steak and eggs was just okay. My daughter got the Mexican dish and could not finish it. They told us that it was a new menu, and I was not impressed at all. For the quality of the Hotel duPont, the food should have matched. I have been there before, and the food was good. They should go back to their egg and omelet stations. Ordering a $40 entree is rediculous for a brunch. I will probably not go back, and instead go to other better brunch places(Crazy Cats, Deerfield,etc.)

    We celebrated my sister's 50th birthday and really enjoyed the Food and atmosphere. But the waitress got one entree wrong And the wine order was delayed because the wine Wasn't chilled. And why arent the curtains at least green in the Green Room. Also I made the reservation weeks in advance and the table location Wasnt special at all. Dont know if I'd use open table service again. But the flambe strawberries were wonderful!

    In the 15 years since I last reviewed the Green Room for the News Journal, it has held up far better than the city that contains it. Rather like a Russian refugee in 1930s Paris preserving the manners and mores of the Imperial Court, the Green Room provides a snapshot of what Wilmington was like when the Dupont Company's motto was,"Better things for better living, through chemistry," and family members actually controlled the business and set the community standards. The food is exquisite, the wine list is extravagant and the service is impeccable in an era when service is seldom celebrated. The Green Room and the Hotel Dupont remain a destination worthy of a weekend detour.

    The Green Room was once a great place for a special occasion brunch - family affairs, gathering of friends, leisurely weekend breakfast place-but the decor, small selection of buffet items and general quiet nature of the dining room has turned it into a stuffy and outdated venue that I wouldn't revisit unless there were big changes made. To be fair, the food was good (not fabulous, but well prepared & entrees were presented nicely), our waiter was very nice (though not bursting with enthusiasm for the menu or his guests) and the dining room was well appointed (comfortable chairs, decor is well-maintained if out of style and heavy). If they expanded their buffet options and updated their furnishings and fixtures, they might do well again.

    The Green Room is an exquisite experience for any occassion or meal. Menu is interesting, brunch is fabulous and service exactly defines fine dining. My one and only issue resulted from booking brunch via Open Table. Despite the fact that The Green Room does not offer a Sunday breakfast, somehow my brunch reservation got listed under breakfast and was not recognized as a brunch reservation. We had to go through a few tense moments to right the situation as the receptionist was not willing to seat us. Thankfully, management stepped in. I was able to produce my reservation paper with the time and correct date, but nowhere on it was a notation for the type of meal (breakfast, brunch, or otherwise).

The chicken was dry in the chicken and pasta dish. The salmon was mixed with shrimp and we don't eat shell fish. Asked the waitress if we could get salmon without the shrimp and she never came back with a reply. The meat was tough. Waitress did not refill water glasses and had to ask several times for coffee with dessert.

    Food and service were superb. Filet mignon and lobster for both of us. Steaks done exactly as we requested - one medium and one well - both perfect. The sauce for the filet was absolutely delicious. Both the filets and the lobster tails were a very nice size for a surf and turf. Sorbet dessert was a real treat (as I almost always get a chocolate dessert). Five different wonderful flavors and sizable scoops - all stayed cold in the special dish. Very quiet and cozy by the window at 6:00 pm even though the room is large.
