Not up to four-stars this time . . . too long for initial service . . . only 3 of 4 given a butter knife . . . one of our drinks had to be returned (whatever it was, it wasn't what was ordered) . . . waiter served food from the right instead of the left, then cleared from both sides

Extremely poor service, appetizer was good but it was an hour wait between drinks and appetizer. Entree was not good (pasta dish) and dessert was ok. Asked for tea with dessert which I also did not receive. Would not go back and sorry that room is so lovely. Such a waste of a lovely restaurant.

Our party arrived 15 minutes early and we were promptly seated by the hostess. All of the staff were extremely accommodating and made all in my party feel welcomed. As we were there for brunch on Sunday vs. dinner, part of the meal was buffet and the entree was via the server. I was hoping for a slightly broader choice for the entree. However, I was quite pleased with the menu as a whole. An array of desserts were also available via buffet. My experience overall was very good. However, it seemed to take sometime to get our drink order after we arrived. All in all, I would recommend this lovely setting and great food to anyone who is looking for a quite, stately ambiance...Oh, and the live music (pianist)was just the ticket for Sunday brunch

Has seen better days. Feels dated. We were there for Sunday brunch. No waiter was supervising the buffet table and a family with badly behaved young children allowed them to access the buffet table with no parental supervision. They were picking up items and putting them back on the plates...totally unappetizing.

I took my girlfriend here on a Saturday night to celebrate. I wanted it to have a very special elegant dinner. I requested a "recommended" table and champagne when I made the reservation through open table. I did inform them that it was our anniversary, and they followed through and then some. Definitely will go back. Food was amazing -- best lobster bisque I've ever had. Everything was delicious, and they took care of us like we were VIP's -- thank you very Much.

The setting is perfect for a special occassion, Brunch is around $35.00 per person, the offerrings were not a value. There were typical breakfast items, carving station, omelet station, salads and several hot covered items, one of which was a delicious salmon and shrimp dish but the others were stew like dishes with gravy,

    OpenTable Diner Since 2010
    Dined on 2/1/2012
We usually enjoy having lunch or dinner in the Green Room. While the foood was excellent as always (cocktails, appetizers, surf & turf, wine & deserts), our table position was not as requested on OpenTable. We had requested a table for two by a window. Instead, they first showed us to a table across from the silverware station. We said that was not acceptable and explained our original request. The reply was that many had made that request. We were then shown to a table by the wall. The table directly behind us was by the window and no one was seated there all evening. Also, we had a half bottle of wine which was brought to the table and not opened until the dinner was served. This did not allow the wine to breathe.

Elegant setting. Top quality menu and food preparation. Wait staff is just not what I would have expected. The setting suggests elegance and a professional and deferential server. Every time I have been to the Green Room, the service has been mediocre. For example, one must request refills of ice tea (and the like), plates are tossed around when being served, the wait person refers to notes when asked about any chef specials, and the orders are mixed-up. If one can set service expectation low, then the food will be enjoyable.

This is the second year we have had my mother's birthday party luncheon here - 90th and 91st. Both times have been lovely. The buffet (admittedly much better on Sunday than Monday this year) is very good, but the best thing is the attention. Everyone made my mother feel really special. They even provided a special small birthday cake - with Happy 91st Birthday written in chocolate sauce around the edge. My mahi-mahi was great, as was my husband's mussels. I think the portabello sandwich was a little unwieldy, but apparently it tasted good. The dessert table was fantastic. The salad table was a little boring - the only complaint. We already have booked for the same party next year and certainly will try to eat there again before then

I must say I haven't been to the Green Room since I was a child and I can't imagine why I stopped. The food and atmosphere was just exquisite (it helped that after dinner Hotel DuPont held the DSO Chamber Music concert in their lovely Gold Room a combo I highly recommend)and the service was charming - I think I experienced my first really good Pinot Noir and now I know what the fuss is about. It will have to be a place for a special occasion though as the prices are the highest I've seen. I guess, though, that you get what you pay for. Both my date and I were just completely thrilled.

  • A big disappointment
    OpenTable Diner Since 2011
    Dined on 12/23/2011
In a word, our meal was disappointing. The ambience of the Green Room is undeniable, but it also sets expectations high. The restaurant failed to live up to those expectations on almost every aspect. The eight people in our party are all "foodies," and we meet on occasion for a dinner club. The chicken dish was very generic and bland--and not nearly worth the cost. The Osso buco special was appropriately braised, but offered little else. The included au ju was savory, but some carrots or potatoes would have been a welcome break from the large roast. Service was sporadic and distracted. The waiters even took food away from us at one point! Waiters "auctioned" food, which should never happen at this level. At $100 per, won't be back.
