Diner Reviews
  • "We had heard rave reviews about the Grape from a former Dallas resident ad decided to check it out. We weren't disappointed. We started with crab cakes, which were very good if not outstanding. Next I had the mushroom soup while my wife had one of the salads, both were excellent. The mushroom soup is a must try in my book. We shared a 5 selection cheese plate chosen by the chef and had a wonderful variety, better than many French restaurants I've been to. We shared a piece of carrot cake for dessert, it was good, not too sweet, not too tangy. We will be coming back."

  • "A good wine list was one of the reasons we chose the Grape. It was somewhat disappointing that they did not have 2 of our selections. Neverthe less, we found similar choices. Bistro style dishes were excellent. Service was perfect."

  • "The Grape is a very good place to dine. The food and service are always very good. They add interesting things to their menu and the wine list is reasonable. We have been eating there for years and it seems to just get better."

  • "My ex-wife and I first dined at The Grape shortly after it opened in the early 1970's. We ate there many times until we moved to Denver in 1981. Since then, whenever business takes me to Dallas it is the one place you are certain to find me. It's not just nostalgia, though it is one of the few restaurants from my previous life still in existence, and I suspect I know why. The lamb I last feasted on was perfection. The service was prompt and attentive, but not pushy. I lingered over the port for an appropriate moment. The waiter chatted about the play I was reading, noting that a friend of his had performed in it recently. A visit to The Grape is without a doubt worth the 4 hour drive from Houston."

  • "Great food. Fun night out at small neighborhood restaurant. Wine list amazing for small restaurant."

  • "Long time favorite Neighborhood charm, with attentive services. Mushroom soup is a must have. Crisp seared Bronzini is close to perfect! Also Blueberry Sorbet was ver flavorful and refreshing. Charming and almost rusty atmosphere inside that's cozy and warming for either couples or small group. Outdoor (enclosed) patio is spacious enough for family brunch. After last visit in over 15 years, I feel like I will return to try the brunch with some friends."

  • "Over all we had a wonderful first dinner here. After we received our appetizer of mussels, we overhead the waiter tell the table next to us about a dinner special and presented them with the wine list. We were not told about the special before we ordered our meals and we did not know there were more wines then what was on the food menu. Next time we will definitely have to ask for these things so we don't miss out. Regardless, what we did order was beautifully cooked and very flavorful. My husband had the duck breast and I had the scallops. While very good, there were only three small scallops so don't order this if your hungry. The duck however was some of the best we've ever tasted. Not always on the menu so order it when you can."

  • "As always, we know we can go to The Grape for a nice evening! We introduced some newbies to this great place and they really enjoyed it. The wine food pairing is always perfect... true purpose for wine is to compliment the food, so well done.!"

  • "Not busy but the server was just bad. it took him 35 minutes to get us our first drinks. he kept forgetting everything. He would go away and never come back. He ruined our night"

  • "I have been there for dinner and it is fabulous. However, this last time we went for the famous "Best Brunch in Dallas" and it fell very short. The food was fine, not super and not terrible, but just fine. However, the problem I had was the number of small children there. We sat on the enclosed patio due to weather which makes the noise level higher. Out of the 10 or so tables, 6 were with children (6 months-2 years) and all of them were extremely loud. My wife and I would have preferred the dinner atmosphere at brunch. We are fine with a lively crowd, but crying babies and the sound of knives hitting the floor for an hour is a bit much. Will not return for brunch, but lover dinner and highly recommend it."

  • "Everything was perfect except we were told we would have to move to bar area after we ate dinner. I guess 2 hours is the max you are allowed to sit at your dinner table. That was a first! Oh well! Everything else was great!"

  • "The Grape is always a great place to go for a casual meal and also always great for Brunch. I always get the the chicken biscuit and my boyfriend always gets the burger and raves about it. The cream of mushroom soup is another one of my favs as well. It's small and packed in but that is part of its local charm."

  • "The mushroom soup was outstanding! And its been on the menu since 1972. I would love to have that receipe but I know its impossible. We definitely will be going back to the Grape and I hope its soon!"

  • "We booked a reservation for brunch as we have done a few times. The meal and service were impeccable as always. We knew the burger and haystack were great. So we added the sausage hush puppies which were unbelievable. We have been enjoying the Grape for 20+ years and have never been disappointed. Dinner, wine, cocktails, brunch; every time has been fantastic. Give them a try, you will love it."

  • "My husband & I returned to the Grape after 27 years for a "date night". It was so so chill! We sat outside because the weather was awesome on March 10th. Our waiter was super friendly & had a good sense of humor. You must try their famous Mushroom Soup! Lovely. The wine was spot on..well, because we love Merlot! A great spot to see walkers, joggers, cool rides & people doggies!"

  • "Ever since Texas Monthly came out with their best burgers list in 2009, I've been dying to eat at The Grape. The Classic Cheeseburger was absolutely tremendous! Every detail about the burger was spot on. The atmosphere was great in the covered outdoor dining area. The temperature was cold the morning we went, but you wouldn't have been able to tell as they kept the outdoor area comfortably warm. Our experience was soured, however, by the lackluster service of our waiter. He seemed completely disinterested in waiting on us, and after a half-hearted refill of my soda, he never checked in on us again. After waiting over 20 minutes for our check, we had to grab the attention of one of the other staff to pay our bill."

  • "I love this European style dining experience! I occasionally treat myself with their great food, and it is wonderful for small groups on special occasions. Their superb appetizers and drinks are discounted during Happy Hour. Every Dallasite should dine here at least once! They have a great chef who prepares original dishes. Meats are tender and filling. Fish is succulent and delicate. Menu is changed monthly, and includes dishes to suite most taste."

  • "The food here was excellent. The service was great. However, I was expecting a bit of a more low lit, romantic atmosphere. This place was LOUD! If you want a romantic evening this is not the place to go. It is great for a night out though. The food was top notch and I really could not find a thing to complain about. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great food in a cozy energetic place."

  • "I love the menu at The Grape. We had a delicious cheese & fruit tray as an appetizer. I also love that they offer some of their menu items in a smaller portion. Our waiter was excellent - attentive but not buggy. The Grape also has a great atmosphere - we'll be back soon!"

  • "I've lived in Dallas most of my life and have had some milestone meals here. A couple of times in my early twenties, once again in my 30's with some friends after our home purchase, and recently for my 46th birthday. The four of us split an order of mussels and a bowl of the mushroom soup (people rave about it for a reason) to start, The short rib, the roast chicken, the pork chop and the scallops were on order. Everyone tried a bite of everything and nothing disappointed. Decent wine list, and service was knowledgeable and attentive from start to finish. Two complaints: A large party seated next to us got loud - a party of 10+ is too big for this small, intimate space. And I MISS the turquoise grape cluster pendant lights."

  • "The Grape is an awesome restaurant that keeps providing great food year after year. The mahi mahi was wonderful with grapefruit and avocado. The steak with balsamic reduction was fabulous and the Ruby Mule drink had the right combination of ginger and other ingredients. You won't be disappointed if you eat here."

  • "I used to go to the Grape quite a bit. But the amount of new restaurants I just had put it aside. Its been a few years so I was excited about a return visit. Salad was very uneventful. Blue Cheese vineagarette nice but salad was like out of a bag. Croutons were from sysco...... We had short ribs...(tasted like they were stored in a refrigator.) coal miners pasta...(very overcooked) salty Service was nice. Missed some points ie served with wrong hand...did not fully clear table...(bread plate was still on table when we left. But over all a good experience."
