I took a party of six of all ages to the Grandview on Sunday, September 14, 2014. I had read mixed reviews of the food and service, but my sister wanted a view of Lake Geneva, and this is the only choice. We were all delighted with everything. My sister lives in San Francisco and travels the world, so she knows her restaurants; she was impressed. I had the excellent wild caught Alaska salmon, my wife's tenderloin filet was so good that she forgot to give our four-year-old a taste. The salads were excellent, so was the artichoke and crab fondue. Service was as close to perfect as possible. Because the season is at an end and we went at 5:30 PM, the restaurant wasn't crowded and the view was great. Excellent wine. Pricey, but worth it.

This is an annual pilgrimage for us, great food and great view of Lake Geneva. The design maximizes access to the view, with probably half of the tables right by the window. Service (food arrival) was just a little slow this time because of a large group arriving before us, but Rick our server never got lost or ignored us. We both loved our entrees, scallops for her, lamb chops for me. Only very minor disappointment was that they wouldn't substitute the twice baked potato for my smashed potatoes, but you can't have everything. We'll be back again for our anniversary next year.

Our evening was memorable with fantastic food. However, at 09:30pm, when a party of +58 were seated all around our table of 4, it was definitely time for our departure. Very loud and had obviously been partying elsewhere before their Geneva Inn arrival. They were all late middle aged and rude.

We have been to the Grandview many times over several years. IL for lunch. Yesterdays service was unacceptable.. Our soups were tasty but barely warm. Our steak slider was over cooked . Asked for the sauce to be on the side, it was topped on the steak. Were not informed about choice of potato; would have preferred sweet potato fries rather than plain fries. Our salad dressings, which we requested on the side did not arrive until we consumed most of the salad. Our main dishes were plopped down on the table before our appetizer plates were removed thus making for a crowded, messy looking table. Will be back? Absolutely, we will not allow one poor experience keep us from what usually is a pleasant and rewarding experience.

We have been coming to Grandview for years. Sunday brunch is a positive experience. Champagne/sparkling grape juice- great. There is fruit and sweet bread. Salmon cakes are a treat. Blueberry cornmeal pancake is good, but suspect the blueberries were frozen. Great window view. No special food consideration or candle for birthday, was a disappointment. There was a wedding outside later, and few waitresses created a less than optimal experience. Waitstaff was overwhelmed, doing the best they could with walkin customers. We were not quite done at the table, and manager requested we leave so other customers could have table. Grandview hospitality is changing. One reason to drive from Chicago is to savor view and food.

Picked the restaurant because of the peoples review. But Everyone has their own opinion. The ambiance was dated, the view of the lake was the only thing I will recommend. The food was over priced for its quality if there was any. Ordered margherita flat bread it came out cold and soggy. The steak has funky taste to it. The staff was atleast good. If you are looking for good view then go but dont expect the food to be excelllent.

We were seated promptly, but after 5 min the hostess came back to tell us the server was busy with a large group. She should have taken our drink order and brought it to us, she didn't and we waited until the server could get to us :-( The large group was much too loud and should have been asked to use indoor voices by mgmt! The food was plated nicely but the Salmon lacked flavor and the NY Strip had little flavor and was doused with a sauce that ruined the steak. The server never mentioned the sauce. The asparagus was a little overcooked and also lacked the flavor we paid for. Also, the prices are 4 star prices for 2 star results. We'll pass on future "special event meals" at the Grandview -just have a cocktail at the bar or patio.

Visited the Grandview Restaurant with my family to celebrate my Mother's 90th birthday. Our server, Kathleen is quite a pro and knows how to make people feel special. She even offered to take our family's picture in front of the huge fireplace. The lady who sang and played piano came over to sing to my Mother as she blew out the candles on her cake. The view at this restaurant of Lake Geneva is outstanding (thus the name) and none to compare in Lake Geneva. Delicious pretzel rolls, fresh salad dressings, great steaks. It is a special place.

Third trip in recent weeks and things were better than our low expectations the last two times. This time we had to wait 45 minutes for a table at our 7:30 reservation and then our food and check were all delayed by other customers being too numerous and lack of familiarity of the waiter with our open table check. Nice people and a decent place but not a swiss watch.

Sadly I'm writing this. I tried to call to take to a manager upon leaving but no answer. Been coming for years and it's always a delight. This time I has some of the wrist service not just slow and in attentive but rude short and even almost argumentative. I believe Kathryn may have been her name blk/gray curly hair middle aged. 15 mins before drink were taken or even our first greeting. took my dinner roll if accidentky placed on wrong plate picked it up with her hand and moved it to the other side and commented how we needed to make her room. She forget refills an when reminded her was rude. rushed dropped ice all over Clanked dishes. Finished night saying there was a bill error and she wasn't go have it come out of her pay.

Our server, while friendly, didn't seem to really want to take care of us. Our appetizer came before our drink, which was wine, and we had to call our server over for everything because she rushed to and from our table so fast. We ordered the calamari, which was not really what we expected based on the the menu description, and some of the salad fell on the table, our server literally picked it up and put it back on the plate. I would never do that as a server, and was disappointed that it happened.

We dined here after a long day out on the lake. It was a wonderful view and the service was great. The food for the price was just ok. There are some interesting and eclectic menu items but all of our party's choices fell a little flat. It wasn't bad, but nothing really excited us. The dessert may have been the best part of the meal. The dining room is a bit dated and dark, and there was a layer of dust on the blinds on the windows. The place could use a good cleaning and a facelift. Our server was attentive and very friendly. All in all if you want a nice place to dine with a fabulous view of the beautiful lake this is not a bad choice. Just don't expect the best meal you have ever had.
