Diner Reviews
  • "Great lunch and great service. Always an enjoyable experience."

  • "My husband and I have gone here a few times for Sunday Brunch and sat on the outside patio- awesome view, best food in Lake Geneva, and friendly staff-"
    Dined on 8/10/2014
  • "The view was great. The food was okay but very small portions, we left still hungry. I would not recommend this because the amount of money you pay is not worth it for the small portion of food."

  • "Our Server was fantastic! He was humorous and was perfect for our group of 6. Wish i could remember his name..."
    Dined on 8/8/2014
  • "We were a group of eight and the server did a fantastic job and so did the chef! The linguini and white clam sauce was out of this world!"
    Dined on 8/7/2014
  • "We were seated promptly, but after 5 min the hostess came back to tell us the server was busy with a large group. She should have taken our drink order and brought it to us, she didn't and we waited until the server could get to us :-( The large group was much too loud and should have been asked to use indoor voices by mgmt! The food was plated nicely but the Salmon lacked flavor and the NY Strip had little flavor and was doused with a sauce that ruined the steak. The server never mentioned the sauce. The asparagus was a little overcooked and also lacked the flavor we paid for. Also, the prices are 4 star prices for 2 star results. We'll pass on future "special event meals" at the Grandview -just have a cocktail at the bar or patio."

  • "Every time I have guests up to Lake Geneva, I take them to the Grandview as it gives them a chance to see the beauty of the lake and have a delicious meal."
    Dined on 8/5/2014
  • "Our meal was a disappointment . The food tasted as if it it was frozen and reheated. The bow tie pasta was in fact penne, not a big problem but we should have been informed. The view is outstanding too bad the food is so average."
    Dined on 8/4/2014
  • "Visited the Grandview Restaurant with my family to celebrate my Mother's 90th birthday. Our server, Kathleen is quite a pro and knows how to make people feel special. She even offered to take our family's picture in front of the huge fireplace. The lady who sang and played piano came over to sing to my Mother as she blew out the candles on her cake. The view at this restaurant of Lake Geneva is outstanding (thus the name) and none to compare in Lake Geneva. Delicious pretzel rolls, fresh salad dressings, great steaks. It is a special place."

  • "I don't know why we didn't get 100 points as we reserved thru OPEN TABLE, BUT IF IT'S ONE OF THOSE RESTAURANTS (IF U KNOW WHAT I MEAN) ABOUT NOT GIVING POINTS ON SATURDAY NITE - THEN THEIR CHINCY AFTER I SPENT $166 THERE - CHEAP, CHEAP CHEAP! And I don't care if it's in this website or on theirs - it's just plain old CHINCY, CHEAP-A--ES!"

  • "Breakfast at the Grandview was simply lovely as always. A serene and beautiful escape from the hustle and bustle."
    Dined on 8/2/2014
  • "We booked our reservation online and our requests were fully met. The view of the lake is spectacular and the waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu. We had a wonderful time!"
    Dined on 7/29/2014
  • "We came here a few years ago. It has not changed at all! The decor is from the 80's. Really needs to be updated. The food was fine, just nothing special. It was my husband's birthday, which I noted when I made the reservation. It was not acknowledged at all. It is a beautiful view of the lake. And our server was excellent."
    Dined on 7/24/2014
  • "Third trip in recent weeks and things were better than our low expectations the last two times. This time we had to wait 45 minutes for a table at our 7:30 reservation and then our food and check were all delayed by other customers being too numerous and lack of familiarity of the waiter with our open table check. Nice people and a decent place but not a swiss watch."
    Dined on 7/18/2014
  • "We were given a gift certificate. Lamb chops perfect, parts of veal a little tough. View perfect. Service excellent. Loved piano and soloist."

  • "Sadly I'm writing this. I tried to call to take to a manager upon leaving but no answer. Been coming for years and it's always a delight. This time I has some of the wrist service not just slow and in attentive but rude short and even almost argumentative. I believe Kathryn may have been her name blk/gray curly hair middle aged. 15 mins before drink were taken or even our first greeting. took my dinner roll if accidentky placed on wrong plate picked it up with her hand and moved it to the other side and commented how we needed to make her room. She forget refills an when reminded her was rude. rushed dropped ice all over Clanked dishes. Finished night saying there was a bill error and she wasn't go have it come out of her pay."

  • "Our server, Rick, suggested a Merlot which I much enjoyed. I chose the t ournedos of beef with mashed which was one of the most delicious meals I've ever had. For dessert, I chose pistachio ice cream...amazing. I've always enjoyed my visits to the G reenview but this was a stand-out experience.please"

  • "We enjoyed another delightful lunch on the patio overlooking the lake. Temperature was perfect. Our table was gently shaded. The champagne split drink special really hit the spot. The sliders and caesar salad were delicious! We'll return soon."
    Dined on 7/10/2014
  • "Our server, while friendly, didn't seem to really want to take care of us. Our appetizer came before our drink, which was wine, and we had to call our server over for everything because she rushed to and from our table so fast. We ordered the calamari, which was not really what we expected based on the the menu description, and some of the salad fell on the table, our server literally picked it up and put it back on the plate. I would never do that as a server, and was disappointed that it happened."

  • "Graet views of the lake. Beautiful decor. Live band."
    Dined on 7/6/2014
  • "We dined here after a long day out on the lake. It was a wonderful view and the service was great. The food for the price was just ok. There are some interesting and eclectic menu items but all of our party's choices fell a little flat. It wasn't bad, but nothing really excited us. The dessert may have been the best part of the meal. The dining room is a bit dated and dark, and there was a layer of dust on the blinds on the windows. The place could use a good cleaning and a facelift. Our server was attentive and very friendly. All in all if you want a nice place to dine with a fabulous view of the beautiful lake this is not a bad choice. Just don't expect the best meal you have ever had."

  • "Great scenic stop with a great lunch menu. Breakfast menu is very limited. Omelette are great, but need a side such as toast, etc."
    Dined on 7/5/2014
  • "This was our very first time and we enjoyed our dinner to celebrate our wedding anniversary and breakfast in the morning. The restaurant and whole Inn is very quaint and relaxing that has a delicious restaurant!"

  • "Waiter was attentive, food was very good, desserts were excellent. View of lake was very nice."
    Dined on 6/28/2014
  • "We arrived early and changed the time of our reservation without a problem. Ordered wine and champayne. The luncheon items on the menu where mundane luncheon items but the specials were exactly that - special."
    Dined on 6/26/2014
  • "1st the view of Lake Geneva is beautiful and never gets old, and while near the windows is best any seat in the house affords one a spectacular view. Food and presentation is top notch. Service can seem slow because one can get into almost a hipnotic state that you forget about time."

  • "We were looking for a nice waterfront restaurant and this one exceeded our expectations. Great food made from scratch and beautiful views of Geneva Lake. Will definitely be back."

  • "From the ease & confidence of booking thru Open Table to the incredible views, food & service the evening was outstanding..took friends who were blown away! New menu had wonderful variety with generous portions. Live music always a plus!! Well done all the way around."

  • "The view of Lake Geneva is the best around, the food creative and presentation exceptional, and wait staff friendly and helpful. Can't wait to go back. The salads are outstanding. Take the lake walk from town."

  • "Our waitress was outstanding. She asked us if we would like a window seat instead of the table we were at, because one of her tables were just leaving. We order a cocktail from her waited about 3 minutes and she transferred us to a great table. She was an outstanding waitress."

  • "From the snit delivered with the Bloody Mary to the excellent dessert . The food, the atmosphere , service was all excellent."

  • "DINNER: Filet was ordered medium rare, receive well done. Ok, let's try it again. This time I received a rare ribeye. Really? People can't tell the difference? Lamb shank was good, not great, just good. Service was good, not great. Ambience was like the walking dead...zzzzzzz. Feels like where the silver tops good for over priced food. Sorry. BREAKFAST: Totally different story (except still feels like the walking dead). Very limited menu but it works. Service was excellent (Andrea), food was beautifully prepared, tasty (Eggs Benefit) and well worth the price! Continental breakfast added some fresh fruit and juice to the meal. Bottom line: Find somewhere else for dinner but don't miss the breakfast."

  • "Was not happy with the cold meal & poor quality fish. They need to be more consistent. It is a beautiful location. Food quality needs to improve & get meals out hot always. "

  • "Perfect for a "girl friends" lunch. My friend is hard of hearing but the restaurant was not so noisy that she couldn't hear me. We'll be back."

  • "Great brunch with friends - drove up from St. Charles , Il - arrived earlier than our reservation time, but were seated right away and by window as I had requested if available. Good wait staff - good food - were not hurried and able to sit and enjoy the view. Am sure we will be back."

  • "I hate to write this review because The Grandview restaurant is so wonderful that I'm afraid I might start a stampede and have to deal with huge crowds when we go there to dine. I'll just have to take the chance. On this lovely early afternoon at the end of May, the weather was a perfect 75. Lunch on the attractive patio overlooking Geneva Lake was a delightful experience. The service, ambiance, food could not have been better. The filet sliders with sweet potato fries were excellent and my husband enjoyed the tournedos of beef entree. It was so pleasant there on the patio--the beauty and serenity--we wished we could have stayed there all afternoon."

  • "I was surprised at how much we enjoyed Grandview Restaurant for a Sunday evening dinner over Memorial Day weekend. The food was so delicious (rainbow trout and lamb chops, apple pie and chocolate gelato) and the sunset was almost spiritual. I had a very nice glass of Malbec, and felt peaceful and relaxed throughout the dinner and afterwards. It was not as expensive as I expected ($100 plus tip, which is pricey for two, but it was worth it), we planned to splurge and were glad we did."
