The Grand MarlinFood was outstanding but beFood was outstanding but be prepared for a loud room if you eat inside.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best on Pensacola Beach! If you've been to Pensacola Beach you know that it is a laid back and full of bars, cafes and restaurants that cater to families and kids. While it a great lazy little beach to take a vacation if you are looking for something a little slower; it has always lacked dining for people looking for something a little nicer and did not want to leave the island. Grand Marlin is a great find! The Crispy Lobster fingers are a must have! The featured drinks are refreshing and hit the spot and the atmosphere is casual yet a wonderful dining experience especially at sunset.
We go to the Grand Marlin atleast once every time we visit Pensacola Beach and look forward to the next time.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and atmosphereFirst time here for my tenth wedding anniversary and was very pleased. Food was excellent and the service I received was great. Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting P-Cola Beach!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food, Long waitAlthough we used open table... we still waited 50 minutes to be seated.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstandingWe went there for my partner's birthday. The food was excellent, the view wonderful. But what really made the experience was the service. Our waiter, Jimmy, gave some of the best service I have ever received in a restaurant. An example was that he pointed out sunset, and when we said something about taking a picture, he volunteered to walk across the restaurant and take a picture of the two of us. Rest assured that we will be returning for another romantic dinner!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat view and foodWe went with a large group and enjoyed dinner. The appetizers were especially good.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMServiceOur waitress seemed to delay in bringing our check. Otherwise she did a good job.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMThey took great care of usWe were celebrating a special occasion and they took excellent care of our large party.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMBest restaurant in Pensacola!Another great Grand Marlin experience! Consistently superior.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a great eveningWe love the Grand Marlin. Make sure to make reservation on OpenTable.com so you don't have to wait. I love the atmosphere. We usually order one appetizer, split and entree so we have room for dessert. Our favorite appetizers are Blue Angel Chips and the fried crab claws. Our favorite entree is the Grouper picatta, but this particular night we had the chef's special - broiled scamp over rattlesnake beans and mashed potato with caper/tomato compote.Delicious!!! And our favorite dessert is the praline basket that we enjoy with a cup of coffee. (We don't split the coffee...we each get our own cup!) Friendly staff, great service and we always see lots of people we know.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat B-day DinnerWe celebrated a birthday thereand thought it was a perfect choice. The seafood was outstanding. The waiter was excellent making very good recommendations for food, wine, and cocktails. Plan to go back before we leave the beach.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Restaurant I ever ate at!From the receptionist, to the wait staff, to the food, to the overall experience, this was an exceptional visit for my wife and I! We were treated like royalty! The food was out of this world amazing! Just as our visit to the Grand Marlin came from a recommendation from a friend, I would highly recommend this to ALL of our friends!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat foodWe had a great dinning experience. Our meal was excellent, from appetizer to dessert. We will definitely come back to try another one of the great dishes offered.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMPensacola Beach GemHad a fantastic meal. The cobia was perfectly cooked with great side dishes. My wife had ribs which were falling-off-the-bone delicious. The real treat was the watermelon slaw that came with her rib dinner. The oysters Bienville was as good as any I've had i New Orleans (and I'm rom there). Drinks were generous and excellent (had the Mojito Cubano and my wife had a Bloody Mary). The look of the restaurant is casual elegant. We ate inside due to the wind - gorgeous view of the bay. Outside dining would have been good on a less windy evening. Service was great (Steve). It is the dining gem of Pensacola Beach.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazingThe food and service was AMAZING. We had a fantastic waitress who suggested great food for us. The food was fast and so so good. I highly recommend eating at the Grand Marlin.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMGrand Experience!I LOVE The Grand Marlin! We go there every year for our final dinner on vacation. The food is always amazing. It's not cheap, but totally worth it every time. Best restaurant in Pensacola.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMOyster Rockefellers r GreatAlways get them when available. All the food & service was very good . No wait 4 our table since we used "open table " ! Will b back ! The view can't b beat !! Was charged a $2.00 up charge 4 switching from fries 2 Green Beans . I thought it was only if I switched 2 Asparagus .5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat meal - with a beautiful viewHad a great time. Our server Charles made up for the long wait. Oysters Rockefeller was not traditional and not that good. Raw oysters and crab claws were fantastic. Shared entree of grilled scallops and everything on plate was cooked perfectly. Will definitely go back.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and serviceOr server Jenna was great!!! The food was delicious! I recommend and will come back when I'm in the area.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMUpscale Dining at its BestThis was our first trip to Pensacola Beach, and we relied on Trip Adviser for restaurant recommendations. The Grand Marlin was rated #1, so we gave it a try. The service was wonderful--when we asked about the of the watermelon slaw, which came with a dish we didn't order, our waitress brought a sample to try! The signature Hurricane was delicious, as was the calamari appetizer. My cioppino was too heavy on the oregano foe me but husband's snapper was great. The praline basket was amazing. We'll definitely go back if we visit Pensacola again, and highly recommend. It is NOT, however, a casual beach place, like most in the area. Leave the bikinis and flip flops for Flounders.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food with reasonableExcellent food with reasonable prices. Good service5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and viewFirst, covered parking is always appreciated! No coming back to a hot vehicle. You go upstairs and there's an outside dining area that has an amazing view. The inside offers a nice view as well. We sat outside near the window right over the ocean. The wind was high, but it still seemed worth it.
We had the Fried Lobster Fingers as an appetizer and it was great! Fried lobster was new to me, but it had an amazing taste to it. My lady had the fried shrimp platter and the shrimp was huge, fried correctly and very tasty. I went with a burger, since I wasn't in a seafood mood, and I was not disappointed. The burger was cooked exactly to specification and was one of the best I've had in a while.
The service was very good, but not great.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMDo not miss itIf you have never been to this restaurant before, you might miss it. It is located directly next to the Toll Plaza (east side).
We enjoyed the outdoor dining - a little breezy but comfortable. The fish tacos were some of the best we ever had. They are on corn instead of flour tortillas. I definitely would return to try more dishes. Service was quick and the waitresses were very helpful/nice.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperb service, delectable dishesThe Cobia (chef's recommendation) was superb. Its consistency was much more flaky than my friend's Red Snapper. My crab cake appetizer was almost all meat. The drinks were a little strong, but they were perfect for the occasion. Somehow, the service was even more impressive than the food. The Grand Marlin was the best dining experience I've had in Pensacola.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Dining ExperienceThe Grand Marlin's server was superb....she was efficient, cheerful and knowlegable. Her food recommendations were spot on...the Grouper (with spinach and mashed potatoes) was outstanding. The meal was a bit pricy but the view, the food and the service made it worth every penny and then some. This restaurant is a great choice for locals and tourists alike!5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding!I don't know why we had never been referred to this restaurant during our last 4 stays on Santa Rosa, but we went twice during 1 week vacation because it is truly awesome in all respects! We will revisit!!! Outstanding specials!5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMSurprise find!I was on a short vacation in Pensacola. Having never been to the city before, I was not familiar with any of the restaurants in the area. My friend and I were staying on the beach just a mile down the road from The Grand Marlin. We were looking to find a great place to eat, but we were also hoping for a unique and memorable dining experience. I am thrilled to say we found all these things! The food was excellent, the bar made some great drinks, and our server was one of the best we have ever experienced. He was very knowledgeable about the menu, and his recommendations were great. I would definitely like to return to The Grand Marlin if I ever again find myself in Pensacola, and I have already been telling friends to visit as well!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMChef Special not that SpecialWe decided to eat there twice our vacation week in part because of an advertise Three for Thursday special. Rainbow trout was the least expensive entree on the menu and was paired with a plain salad and less than notable dessert. When you added the costs of the three items you were gaining 2 to 3 dollars. No choices. Tat was the one special and again, just not that special. We ordered another dish which is probably what the restaurant wanted in the first place. Disappointed5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Place! We met some old friends here on Monday night for dinner. We arrived a little early and waited at the bar ordering a half dozen oysters and the Craw-fish Beignets - which are awesome! Once our two friends arrived we were seated on time and re-ordered the Beignets and 2 dozen more oysters. The oysters were perfect and served on very cold trays filled with ice and are shucked to order. We had entrees and desert - the dinner progressed nicely and each dish was excellent! Always nice to start off a dinner so nicely. Our waitress was awesome! Made the night very fun!
We live on the coast here in Destin and this was my first visit to the Grand Marlin. The food and service is excellent!5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMMy sister and i took out motherMy sister and i took out mother there for Mother's Day brunch. Our wait staff was Jen, she is an excellent wait staff person. I have had Jen wait on our table before and she is very attentive and personable.
My only comment is that our food was not has hot as it should have been but i did not send it back because i realized that the restaurant was very crowded for Mother's day and it did was not an issue that i felt i should address on such a busy Sunday morning.
All in all, we had a delightful experience and each time i go to The Grand Marlin i find the wait staff to be excellent and the food is always of high quality.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMSimply the best....There is no equal in the greater Pensacola area when it comes to service and food quality.
Alway's a blessing to get to go....5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMSurprisedHad a reservation 4 Mothers Day . When we arrived people were standing z& sitting everywhere. Some said the wait was a least one hour or more. When we walked to the hostess stand , she immediately seated us ! Totally surprised even with reservation . Prime Rib & Omelet were very good . Strawberry Shortcake was fair . Should have stayed w/ Praline Basket.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day EveningThe atmosphere, service and food is always outstanding. One of my favorite seafood restaurants - and that says a lot for someone from southern Louisiana! Only disappointment was they ran out of brownies for dessert due to Mother's Day attendance!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat place to relaxWhenever I have friends in from out of town I take them to the Grand Marlin Sunday brunch. Great food, great service and $2.00 bloody mary's. How can you beat that??5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Pensacola Beach ExperienceI've only had one prior experience with the restaurant and because of that, I chose it as the spot to bring Dad, my girl friend and her daughter. I made the reservation online and had a quick confirmation which was very nice. We were seated very quickly and had a wonderful view of the water. The food was superb! Blackened Grouper to perfection and my Dad had the filet which he quoted as "The best I've ever had"...btw...he's 82 and had his share and then some! A Grand Manier to top it off, served over heated water...be fitting conclusion to what was a truly wonderful experience. We will be back...5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a favoriteWe always enjoy our meals, be it brunch, lunch or dinner here at Grand Marlin. Tonight was no exception. My husband & I enjoyed the halibut special & it was just as it should be. My husband ordered a frozen strawberry margarita but had to send that back because it contained so much chunky ice - it should be smooth. You could see the icey level settled to the top & the liquid portion on the bottom. They did try to charge us for it in the end but was no problem to get that taken off the bill. I love to eat at Grand Marlin but I find that the mixed drinks are a little below standards. The wine list is great. Still my favorite restaurant!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat FoodWe went there for the first time and we loved this place. The food was great and we loved the decor5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMMidwesterners Love Fresh SeafoodThe Grand Marlin is a must when in Pensacola. It's large, but the staff and kitchen were very efficient and attentive on a busy Friday night at prime dining time. The oysters on the half shell and crab cake we shared as appetizers were ultra fresh and superb, as were the red snapper and tile fish entrees. Our waiter fully knew the menu and was very, very helpful. The wine list is well selected and well priced. Thanks for a great dinner, and a great time. If we ever return to Pensacola, we'll be sure to visit again.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMtime to cleanOver all the food was great , the service was great and the prices are predictable but for gods sake dust that place!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful service and atmosphere.Wonderful service and atmosphere. The food was outstanding. Even the kids enjoyed their kiddie sized fish. It was fried flounder and it was prepared extremely well. You could tell how fresh it was and the kids ate it all. The whole family enjoyed all of the food ordered, and great wine list for mom and dad.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious fresh seafood. WeDelicious fresh seafood. We had the tilefish and salmon; both were excellent. Jeremy, our server, was friendly and helpful with suggestions, and the rest of the wait staff was supportive when passing by (refills, removing empty plates, etc.).4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have friends visiting usWe have friends visiting us from Columbus and we were happy to take them to Grand Marlin. Jen was our server and every recommendation that she gave us was spot on, she took excellent care to serve us and make sure that we have a wonderful dining experience. Our friends were very impressed with the quality and service. It has been our experience that the quality and service are consistent at the Grand Marlin.
Thank you for taking great pride your facility and offering an excellent food experience to our local residents as well as our traveling guests.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMI wish I could remember myI wish I could remember my waiters name because he did an excellent job, but we had a large party for my birthday and I have no complaints, our dinner was delicious and I thought the complimentary dessert for my birthday was very special. As a restaurant employee myself, I normslly am very critical of diming out experiences. Thank you grand marlin! I will definitely be back.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMOur table was ready quickly,Our table was ready quickly, the server made us feel comfortable and didn't rush us. The brunch was outstanding!!
