Diner Reviews
  • "Great food very well prepared and professional staff."

  • "We had a very nice time with very attentive service and great food. The ambience was quiet probably due to a slow evening. The farm to table approach of the restaurant is well executed. The flatbread we had was delicious. The chef varied the dish to our tastes with perfection. We selected two entrees that were perfectly prepared. One was duck two ways and the other was a braised short rib. We capped our meal off with a restaurant prepared chocolate pecan pie and local coffee, both quite enjoyable. We highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "I have lived in Mt. Pleasant for 5 years, and this is the first time I tried this place since it opened. This is the best food, and service I have had in the area!"

  • "The food, ambience & service were all fabulous! Our waiter, JJ, took the time to explain the items on the menu and made us feel very welcome. The food was so fresh and delicious, and also unique! Overall, a wonderful night and will visit again!"

  • "We had been to this restaurant when it was owned by others and operated under a different name; it was a good place then for a quick, casual meal. Now operating as The Granary, we found the food to be excellent in taste and preparation. Service was very good and the hosts could not have been more accommodating. We are very glad that we went back to this location to try out the new restaurant and surely will find ourselves there again in the not too distant future."

  • "Had a terrific brunch here this last weekend with great service! The short rib hash was delicious. The only disappointment was the charcuterie. For a place that is supposed to be dedicated to this it was a tad weak. I appreciate that they are making their own rather than purchasing it for others but they will have to step it up if they are going to compete with others in the charleston area. Otherwise, a fabulous experience. The banana bread dessert is one of the best things ever!"

  • "I wanted to try this place due to the outstanding reviews of the charcuterie, and the prices looked right. Overall impression is it tries to be like a downtown restaurant at a bargain, but it doesn't provide the quality of the food nor the service that a downtown spot could provide. Overall for the price paid, I think I could have did better putting that money toward a fancier plate. The stuff we had was good, but nothing that I can put a finger on and say it was amazing (Charcuterie included). Service was a bit lacking as we ran out of water a few times, and there was a mixup when our appetizer / entrees could come. I would eat there again, but only if I was in the area."

  • "This place made me wish my palate was more educated. Great staff - we ordered 3 or 4 small plates and instead of just dumping it all on us at once they spaced it out in courses. Very crowded in a good way. My wife and I thought it was a great place for couples. We will return!"

  • "Really no need to run to downtown Charleston for great food and drink. The Granary is just a brilliant combination of good food and drink. The service is perfect -- you won't be disappointed in the restaurant. Make sure you have a Moscow Mule -- made with their homemade ginger beer. We love it!"

  • "Very good meats and fish and sides. Unusual for s shopping center."

  • "Wow, was very impressed with quality of food, particularly impressive was the presentations. We were visiting our niece who lives close by, they had been for brunch and happy hour. Food was outstanding."

  • "We had very good dining experiences at the Granary four times before this last visit. The restaurant was so cold it felt like a meat locker and although the waiter was kind enough to turn up the AC temperature, it soon got cold again. The music was very loud and there was a big disconnect between the entree pricing (which we are more than willing to pay since the food is good) and the hard rock music. The restaurant itself was less than 1/2 full so our poor wait staff experience was totally unexcusable. We will not return until we hear that the service and ambiance has improved."

  • "We dined at the Granary the other evening as a party of four. I was looking forward to our meal, as I had enjoyed Brannon Florie's food at 17 N. previously. While dinner was pretty good, it did not live up to our expectations. Many dishes were extremely salty while others fell flat. We did really enjoy the charcuterie and cheese boards as well as the pork belly dish and clams. Service was pleasant, but very slow especially considering it was a Monday and the restaurant wasn't even half full. We will definitely give them another chance, but will probably wait awhile before doing so."

  • "Short staffed (hostess cleaning tables). Tables not cleared efficiently resulting in many groups waiting 30 minutes or more when they all had reservations. Have been here for dinner and was excellent. Brunch was just average."

  • "Restaurant name is misleading. Probably a great choice for a meat eater but no so much for those who expect the grain rather than the animal it feeds. Fathers Day brunch was crowded, noisy, and definitely for the meat lover. The flatbread (sold out anyway) looked good except for the "bacon made from the jowly piece of the pig's head!" (as described by the server). Eventually Huevos Rancheros - minus the chicken - turned out to be an excellent choice; spicy without being overpowering. Brunch time prices are affordable; especially the drink menu ($6 for a champagne cocktail; $3 for domestic bottled beer). It is very jolly but not a place for a romantic tryst - very loud! Service slow at first (25 mins wait) but improved."

  • "Top of list for brunch in Mt. Pleasant. I would recommend this restuarant to all my friends and family. The dinner is great too. Very reasonably priced as well."

  • "We ate at the restaurant shortly after it opened and we were very impressed with the food, menu and service. Not so on Father's Day. Perhaps they were overwhelmed with the crowd, but they were out of two brunch menu items, and we were there when they opened. So why have them on the menu if you don't have them? We had to order them to find out they were not available. It took 45 minutes to get our meal: the eggs were over cooked, the French toast and waffles were so cold that the butter wouldn't melt on them, and one meal was short one egg. We had high hopes for this restaurant. The Long Point neighborhood could use a good restaurant."

  • "This is a fairly new restaurant, and some of the servers need training. Two of us went to dinner and were shown to a table for two situated at the end of a row of tables for two. We asked to sit at another of the unoccupied two tops, but the hostess refused our request, saying, "We might have to push tables together if a bigger party comes in, so we can't let you sit there." We were obviously less important than three or more customers. We ordered an appetizer to share. It arrived without utensils to eat it with or a second small plate to facilitate sharing. We had to stop a waitperson to ask for these. Drinks and food were slow to arrive. The food was excellent and imaginative. We would try The Granary again just for the food."

  • "This was my second time at The Granary. And I think it just keeps getting better and better. Drinks are really good and interesting. Fried oysters were amazing. Pork Belly appetizer was so tasty and cooked crispy and chewy. I ordered the pork chop with farro and greens and it was so delicious, I didn't want to stop eating it. I'm so happy there's a nice restaurant in this area of Mt Pleasant. It's one I would like to make a regular stopping place for me and my husband. Loved it!"

  • "Our first visit and won't be out last, we had wonderful service (JJ) and a sampling of many of the small dishes. Perfect way to get a feel of a new place, and it will bring us back. Loved the fresh selection of drinks offered too!"

  • "The desserts were amazing! Also, the fried oysters were to die for."

  • "read several good things but it failed to deliver on our visit---very small portions --while brussel sprouts had great flavor they were dried out--deserts served without silver--coffee served not once but THREE times cold--once after being told a fres pot was mad-- most disappointing meal since we moved here"
    Dined on 6/6/2014
  • "mahi was delish - could have used more sides; fishcake was deep fried - not mentioned on menu - thought it would be oven cooked"

  • "We had brunch at The Granary. My husband had the duck confetti with eggs and I have the “fat boy” (pork belly, biscuits, eggs and cheesy grits); both dishes were outstanding! The service was excellent and the prices are fair. You should give it a try. "

  • "Always a great meal. JJ was our server this time around and he knew his menu, helpful with suggestions and we never waited for our next plate to be delivered to the table. I love this place! Try the raviolo and the short rib with ramp pasta. Delicious! "

  • "Delicious! I highly recommend to those who enjoy charcuterie and gourmet food. My family and I had the cheese board to start, each got a wonderful entree and then even enjoyed their dessert. Marvelous! "

  • "Great service. Our waiter was very patient explaining the different meals and desserts. The food selection was amazing with me ordering the best steak I've ever had. Definitely one of the best restaurants in area. "

  • "We dined at The Granary on May 9 for my birthday. I saw the new restaurant had a great rating on Urbanspoon and decided it would be a great new restaurant to try for my special day. We were NOT disappointed. My husband, who is hard to excite, noted that the food matched the quality of some of the top restaurants we have visited downtown. Though there aren't tons of entrees to choose from, there is something that will please most. I had the pork chop and my husband had the fish. Both were delicious. There is even a children's menu. My son enjoyed his grilled cheese and fries and literally cleaned his plate, which rarely happens. I think this will be our new regular go to when we don't feel like going downtown."

  • "Exceptionally well-prepared and innovative dishes that rival (or exceed) anything we've enjoyed in downtown Charleston. This place is very much worth the 15 minute drive from Isle of Palms or Sullivan's Island! The chef does remarkable things with wonderful, fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. I have yet to encounter an item on his menu which doesn't elicit a heartfelt "Wow!" Despite the current "mixologist" how-weird-can-I-make-this-drink cocktail craze, the libations at Granary are both interesting AND enjoyably drinkable. Take a break from the overcrowded places on the islands and the overpriced places downtown and visit The Granary. If you love great food you will genuinely enjoy this restaurant."

  • "As someone who lives very near The Granary/Belle Hall Shopping center, I couldn't be more pleased with this restaurant. We've desperately needed a fine dining option, and The Granary is a winner in my book. House-made charcuterie (amazing) lots of small plates for sharing, and everything tasted great. Our server was right-on, there was a nice crowd/buzz during a late dinner (8:15 reservation) and there's things on the menu we didn't get to, and cant wait to come back and try next time. Looking forward to next visit. "

  • "We had heard good things about The Granary so tried it out with another couple. I found the choices limited and not as outstanding as I had expected. The wine list was decent and affordable; would try it again, but probably not regularly."

  • "Its hard to find such good food done so well this close to our home. This place would be a top restaurant downtown. Moscow mules on draft, house made everything, and small plates that make a meal. If we only go out to eat once a week, I'll pick this place every time. It helps that evan Williams black is their house bourbon."
    Dined on 4/28/2014
  • "The food was good, but the chef was trying too hard. Too much sugar on the veggies. Pasta had too much sauce and too few shrimp. Nice dessert. Overall, the restaurant is nothing special."

  • "We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. We love it because it is like downtown dining right around the corner from our house in Mt. Pleasant. Lisa, our server, was fantastic. She made great recommendations, we ate every last bite. The brussels sprouts taste like candy. While the menu is not expansive, all the dishes that I have had have been delicious. We will be visiting again."

  • "Looking for a place off the Islands for a last night meal after week of sun and fun. This place knocked our socks off. They smoke and cure their own meats. From appetizers of veal bone marrow to smoked meats to bass, catfish, pork chop and veggie plate with extra Brussels sprouts we were amazed by this "strip mall" dining extravaganza. Waiter knew it all and was right on everything. When we "found the place" on line and then entered it was empty at 6 on a Friday. Then the locals poured in of every age group and we were shocked by the great food. Do not be out off by the limited menu cause it was all great. As Gomer Pyle USMC said "Suprise suprise suprise!""
