The Glenview HouseDon't just drive by, it's deliciousIf you are heavy into the gastropub seen, this restaurant in more contemporary american than truly a gastropub. There are some unique options, but it's closer to standard faire. With that being said, our food was delicious. My cuban was made with the pork from their pulled pork sandwich and duck ham. It was a little different and delicious. My wife's reuben was "almost" as good as my corned beef (which says alot). We had sandwiches to hold out for the banana bread pudding bites which I wanted for breakfast the next morning. Service was great although we were there earlier than most (5:30PM). True dining experience upstairs, bar and outdoor seating downstairs. Drink menu is solid. we enjoy ourselves. It's a wonderful venue with very reasonably priced food. We had the veal scallopini special-of-the-day and a Cuban sandwich. Sides included great options like sauteed spinach with pine nuts. Wide beer selection was just right for my husband's taste. Start with foie gras and bacon popcorn; completely different! The Kobe sliders are amazing and duck quesadilla unparalleled. So many other choices make it easy to go back! We had jalapeño poppers, skins (awesome) shirt ribs and pork tenderloin. We can't wait to go back and try more. Great comfort food with upscale twists. Need more dessert options but that's the only issue. It was my bday and since they didn't have a good selection she wished me a happy bday by taking $10 off bill it was a great surprise and very nice touch. The food good and the noise level was very loud on the first floor. I'm not sure how this would compare to the upstairs. Drink specials are an especially great bargain. The specials continued the Irish theme and one from our party enjoyed the corned beef and cabbage. Two of us ordered the delicious smoked brisket reuben and our fourth enjoyed the short ribs. The tuna starter was flavored bright with citrus and creamy avocado which contrasted nicely with the crunchy wontons. We had the seasoned popcorn too, which was nicely balanced and fairly addictive. (I've had similar blends at other restaurants that were not as successful.) Our server did a good job recommending beers to complement our meals. In all, very good food at reasonable prices. We will definitely return.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat addition to downtown GlenviewWhether its for a family dinner, a night out with friends, or even a big group, The renovation of The Glenview House has been a wonderful thing for downtown Glenview. No longer a biker bar, this is now a serious restaurant upstairs with a great daily specials menu, and downstairs, a great place to grab a burger or a salad. A special area can also be reserved for private parties. Wait staff is trained well, and they even handle large parties of kids very nicely--no mean feat!
