The ambience and wine was good at the Glass Monkey. However we had the beef carpaccio and it needed more salt. We also had the parsnip purée and it was awful. It tasted like how Mr.Clean smells and I never send food back. The flank steak was delicious but the charcuterie board was disappointing. The beet salad was under seasoned also.

Took my visiting sister in law here on Saturday. Edmonton needs neighborhood pubs that offer a sociable and friendly atmosphere that is not ruined by large screen TV's. So good concept and location but the experience fell short because the food is so mediocre. The fried chicken thigh was less appetizing than KFC and the grilled caesar was a limp joke. The pizza was tough and they were out of the sausage pasta. This from a very limited menu. I appreciate the good intentions but the food is very expensive for cafeteria style fare. Come on Gordon-here is a perfect chance for a turn around. On the positive side the Jacks bread pudding was great. Bring the rest of the menu up to scratch and you have a winner. Liked the draught IPA.

We have been there at least three times. Tonight the service was slow, the salad was wilted and the broccoli under done. Our son ordered a beer that never arrived but it was charged on the bill. Not the best night at the Glass Monkey! Maybe we will return but not for a while!

There's still no need to reserve seats, for now. The restaurant is hidden away in a strip mall with an outdoor section if you'd like to dine outside. Being there on a Sunday night was surprisingly quiet. There were lots of beer and wine choices available and the atmosphere is a place where it'll be good for a date: quiet, yet sophisticated enough to not have children. Appetizer of fish tacos came in two so easily shareable with a friend. The pappardelle was smaller than I expected but the flavours were excellent. The bread pudding was also quite nice and also a shareable size with one other person. The waiter was quite attentive (or it could be because there weren't too many people there?) and friendly.

The Food was delicious. We had 5 'snacks', (best deal on the menu) followed by the warm snacks including broccoli (absolutely delicious), Green beans , and roasted red pepper feta (AMAZING). Between the two of us best deal in Edmonton so far!

This was our 2nd visit to Glass Monkey and curious if it was as good as the first time. We were a table of 4 & sat on the patio. At first the music was a bit loud for conversation. We asked the waiter to turn down the volume and it was done so promptly. Our waiter's name was Allan and he was our waiter the first time we dined here 5 weeks prior. He has the perfect amount of attentiveness: aware of your needs without hovering. The food was great! We were all very happy with our choices. One person in our party is finicky about about his wine. After his first taste of an unfamiliar wine, he declined any. Ten minutes later we convinced him to keep asking for different tastes. Bingo! The bar found one he liked a lot. Excellent dinner for all.

I was looking forward to dinner at the Glass Monkey but was disappointed. The burger was to be cooked medium or medium rare, but it turned out to be well done. The bun was a generic toasted bun and the fries seemed like the frozen variety. I could have done better at a less expensive diner. The fish tacos were tasty but the salsa was a bit bland.

I came on a Thursday evening and there was about 6 other people in the restaurant which should have been a red flag but we dining anyways. Our server was too attentive visiting us every 2 minutes really interrupting our conversation flow. If the food had not been terrible I wouldnt bother writing a review to just complain about service. One order of the chicken "large plate" came out completely raw. It was sent back and didn't return until well after everyone was finished. We had two "large plate" orders of fish and both were completely unsalted and unseasoned. Really not worth going out for, total waste of money! Overall I will not be returning ever and recommend others to do the same! Manager didn't even offer an apology for the raw food!

We had a group of 8 for supper. We all ordered entrees and all were happy with our meals. Good atmosphere and although the restaurant was a bit noisy, it was from the people talking and not loud music. We didn't try any if the small plates, but it was nice to see several options that were a bit different from what other restaurants offer. We will definitely return to try more of the menu.

Having enjoyed gastropubs in the UK we were looking forward to this convivial form of dining coming to Edmonton. The old Jacks Grill has been converted into a rather mundane pub/bar environment that shows no individuality. The service was some of the worst that we have had in Edmonton. The server apologized profusely for the length of time that the food took - well over 45 minutes for anything, but seemed to miss the fact that she didn't turn up to the table to even take a drink order for nearly 30 minutes. Wine pricing very robust and food OK but not good enough to overcome the short comings. Lemon cake was the highlight. With the specials of chicken wings - this is just an expensive neighbourhood pub - not a gastropub!

I had no familiarity with the "gastropub" concept so this restaurant was an eye-opener. Extensive beer menu! Wines by the glass overpriced except for the house plonk. For a group the cold plates would probably be a good choice for an appetizer or as snacks to go with your beer; you can get a selection of 1, 3 or 5. Small plates are really small but would go well with a small plate of veg or a salad. The burger was unremarkable. Fries were over-salted. But we loved the grilled Romaine Caesar (although it's too much for one person if you're also getting a large plate). Service was very friendly and the server was knowledgeable. Noise level was getting to the uncomfortable level on a weekday evening!

The Glass Monkey took over the space occupied for years by Jack's in Lendrum Mall. We decided it was time to try it out. A very innovative approach to a menu with a mix of small dishes suitable to sampling by a group along with entre sized offerings. A very nice wine list with selections all along the price spectrum. The place was full so a reservation is recommended to not be disappointed. Service was a little slow that night but our server did advise us they were a few bodies short due to staff illness. They worked very hard to fill the gaps. Will plan to return and recommend for a nice place to for a lite or full meal.

Highly recommend this gem. The food was fantastic and the beer list is amazing. My husband could not stop raving about the vanilla porter. The carpaccio is delicious and the in house made pork sausage is to die for with the relish. My friend had the mushroom pizza and she felt she was back in Sicily. We will be back! We were not entirely happy with the restaurants willingness to accommodate my bf’s deadly nut allergy. After explaining his allergy to the server he asked if they could accommodate him, & she advised that they have an open kitchen & it could be a problem. My bf asked "So are you saying we shouldn't eat here?" & she respond "Yes, pretty much". He asked to speak with a manager & she told the owner to come see us. The owner didn't seem keen to help, asking, "So what kind of guarantee are you looking for?" This isn't the first restaurant we've been to & even chain restaurants handle his allergy better. The owner ended up assuring us he would accommodate my bf’s allergy but it really took quite a bit of pushing on our end.
