  • "I have visited Glass Monkey numerous times and always enjoy the food, choices of wine and beer. I am impressed a tasaty non-alcoholic beer is available. I enjoy that the same waiter/waitress serve us each time. A special thank you to the very friendly and accomodating waitress who makes the experience relaxed and fun."

  • "Wonderful warm restaurant with sharing plates. The service was efficient and friendly. The combination of flavors was fantastic. We appreciated the selection of plate sizes and the value. We will return for a casual, fun, dining experience."

  • "Love the small plates! My daughter and I shared a pizza then ended the meal with the famous bread pudding. Yum! If you are a beer drinker there is a extensive selection. Great evening! We will be back soon!"

  • "nice time on the patio with good food and nice drinks"

  • "It was comical now a quick meal took us almost 2 and a half hours to complete. Especially the bill... We had to approach the bartender ourselves."

  • "Great spot to sit outside on the quiet patio- like visiting the neighbor's back yard. Mondays are half price for a bottle of wine. With the cheese and charcutterie plate, it was perfect on a summer evening."

  • "Great little neighborhood pub with extensive beer selections. Monday discounts for wine an awesome deal."

  • "My friends and I really wanted to go to nice, but still affordable, but still yummy restaurant and this was perfect! The patio space is adorable, the decor is very modern, and perfect service. I had the margarita pizza and it was wonderful, very crispy crust, well made. Definitely coming back."

  • "Having enjoyed gastropubs in the UK we were looking forward to this convivial form of dining coming to Edmonton. The old Jacks Grill has been converted into a rather mundane pub/bar environment that shows no individuality. The service was some of the worst that we have had in Edmonton. The server apologized profusely for the length of time that the food took - well over 45 minutes for anything, but seemed to miss the fact that she didn't turn up to the table to even take a drink order for nearly 30 minutes. Wine pricing very robust and food OK but not good enough to overcome the short comings. Lemon cake was the highlight. With the specials of chicken wings - this is just an expensive neighbourhood pub - not a gastropub!"

  • "Second visit and once again the service, food and wine were excellent."

  • "I had no familiarity with the "gastropub" concept so this restaurant was an eye-opener. Extensive beer menu! Wines by the glass overpriced except for the house plonk. For a group the cold plates would probably be a good choice for an appetizer or as snacks to go with your beer; you can get a selection of 1, 3 or 5. Small plates are really small but would go well with a small plate of veg or a salad. The burger was unremarkable. Fries were over-salted. But we loved the grilled Romaine Caesar (although it's too much for one person if you're also getting a large plate). Service was very friendly and the server was knowledgeable. Noise level was getting to the uncomfortable level on a weekday evening!"

  • "Had a great experience at the Glass Monkey. The food was fabulous and love that they kept Jack's bread pudding on the menu - a favorite of mine!"

  • "we enjoyed an early evening meal of small plates and very nice cocktails. service was good yet painfully slow and our server, though very knowledgeable about the dishes, was very preoccupied with having to answer the phone, greet, serve, bus etc etc. I'd like to go back but first you need more staff. this was a sunday evening and it was hopping."

  • "Nice neighbourhood place. Small plates and appetizers were good however the main dishes were poor and disappointing."

  • "The Glass Monkey took over the space occupied for years by Jack's in Lendrum Mall. We decided it was time to try it out. A very innovative approach to a menu with a mix of small dishes suitable to sampling by a group along with entre sized offerings. A very nice wine list with selections all along the price spectrum. The place was full so a reservation is recommended to not be disappointed. Service was a little slow that night but our server did advise us they were a few bodies short due to staff illness. They worked very hard to fill the gaps. Will plan to return and recommend for a nice place to for a lite or full meal."

  • "Highly recommend this gem. The food was fantastic and the beer list is amazing. My husband could not stop raving about the vanilla porter. The carpaccio is delicious and the in house made pork sausage is to die for with the relish. My friend had the mushroom pizza and she felt she was back in Sicily. We will be back! Service was excellent."

  • "I had the crispy chicken with spicey kale and it was horrid - I've had better chicken at KFC!! The Kale was uneatable and it was so expensive - a total farce. Will never ever go there again and will tell all not to go as well!!"

  • "We were not entirely happy with the restaurants willingness to accommodate my bf’s deadly nut allergy. After explaining his allergy to the server he asked if they could accommodate him, & she advised that they have an open kitchen & it could be a problem. My bf asked "So are you saying we shouldn't eat here?" & she respond "Yes, pretty much". He asked to speak with a manager & she told the owner to come see us. The owner didn't seem keen to help, asking, "So what kind of guarantee are you looking for?" This isn't the first restaurant we've been to & even chain restaurants handle his allergy better. The owner ended up assuring us he would accommodate my bf’s allergy but it really took quite a bit of pushing on our end."

  • "If you are looking for interesting food for sharing with a lively atmosphere, this is the place for you. Fun place with a tapas concept of dining and a more casual style of service. Great presentation of the food. "

  • "After much anticipation my friends and I were most disappointed with our dining experience. Food was presented well but lacked flavour. We felt that the portions were very small and very expensive . Our server ignored us, we didn't even get the customary how is your meal for which I would have provided feedback . "

  • "I do not mind paying high prices for excellent food but that was not the case at the glass monkey. The meatballs were very good but everything else like the pizzas failed in comparison. The wine list is satisfactory and the beer selection is excellent. I very much like the style of the restaurant and the location is good for a neighborhood restaurant. I have been to the restaurant twice and do not plan on a return visit."

  • "The food was good, the aptmosphere was nice, the drinks were slow to come. There were no specialty drinks, only beer and wine and I guess we could ask for what we want to drink. It was good overall."

  • "We enjoyed our first visit to The Glass Monkey - for a saturday night, reservations are a must. The service was a little inconsistant. Our main course came way to fast and the dessert was very slow. We never felt rushed at all though so it wasn't a big deal, very friendly waiter. The food portions aren't very big for big eaters. Fish Tacos are fantastic!"

  • "Food was excellent, it is not a huge menu but there was plenty of variety, and lots of dishes to share. Restaurant was very busy so the service was a little slow but we were not in a hurry and it was a relaxing change not to be rushed through the meal. Overall a very positive experience, a great place to meet with friends or take the family I will be returning soon."

  • "We took our friends here for dinner. The place was hopping - lots of energy yet still casual and relaxed. The snacks selection is creative and delicious. Great wine list - a bit expensive but the house white was excellent. Pizza was the best I've had and the pappardelle with pork shoulder was a keeper. And of course, Jack's bread pudding is the best in town. Relaxed, professional and attentive service made this a perfect dining experience. Congratulations Rob - you've nailed it!"

  • "We were pleasantly surprised by this Gastro Pub. There are a lot of mixed reviews out there. Apparently, the one thing they have been is inconsistent. We had fantastic french fries and appetizers, but a couple that joined us said the food was much better than the last time they had been there. I had the broccoli and the smoked salmon. The smoked salmon is VERY small, but very tasty. The broccoli was amazing, but again our friends said it was cold and soggy when they visited. So, I would go back and suggest it to people. The only complaint was the deconstructed deviled egg. Who deconstructs a deviled egg? "

  • "If you are going to serve pizza, make sure it is half decent. It looked like someone just took a can of low qualifiy tomatoes and crushed them and poured it on a cracker based pizza. Put a little mozza and very little basil and a way you go. Was very lacking in seasoning. Worst pizza I have had in years. My kids suggested the Sobey's deli pizza at 7.99 was better. The hamburger which was recommended by the waiter was disappointing. The small burger was placed on a huge bun, with a little lettuce and tomato. Didn't notice anything else on the bun. Very plain. Fries were good - hooray!"
