A word from The Ginger Man
The Ginger Man opened in Greenwich in August of 2002 and instantly became one of the area’s most popular restaurants. Known for its warm and inviting atmosphere, the Ginger Man is a favorite among Greenwich locals and neighboring communities. Whether you are looking for a quick burger (maybe the best burger anywhere!), sandwich, or salad with friends or an intimate dinner at a table by the fireplace, The Ginger Man offers you a unique dining experience.

The Ginger Man’s menu accommodates people of all ages with everything from grilled cheese to entrée-sized salads and two to three fish selections daily. The restaurant still uses a real butcher from the New York City marketplace to hand pick its steaks and blend that special mix for its famous burgers.

The Ginger Man features 23 taps, 80+ bottles and a well chosen wine list from small and large Vineyards around the world. The Ginger Man’s burgers and beers were voted “best burger” and “best beer selection.”

Diner Reviews
  • "I was overall disappointed! It is a fairly pricy restaurant on a main street in town, however it had the quality of "fast food" place with screaming kids running around... Quinoa salad was nice and generously portioned, however chicken Panini dish was almost unacceptable: chicken was dry, obviously overcooked and French fries "soggy", very dark with a bitter taste and totally unappealing (if I did not have a company, I would had returned the dish!). With time, place filled with clients coming for a drink at the bar and, it became so crowded and noisy that we just left. The only good experience I had, was our waiter... I might recommend this place with reservation but I doubt that I would like to try it again myself."

  • "We like to have brunch at the Ginger Man and do so often. We were surprised to find that the upstairs room was being painted while the restaurant was open for business fortunately sitting in the backroom the fumes did not interfere with one more enjoyable brunch."

  • "Sun, June 22 was my 2nd time at Ginger Man for brunch We there in early March, dined solo. Sat at the bar. that time had the BEST omelet - goat cheese, red peppers, spinach. It came with crisp potatoes The food was HOT. The blood mary's were excellent - Darren was the bartender. Yesterday was DIFFERENT. Now it's summer so less people, less crowded and that part was good. But Darren was not bartending. The bloodies were still good (they have a special recipe for them) I ordered the same omelet as last time. But the dish did NOT come out the same. The omelet was "luke warm", not hot and the potatoes were not nicely done as last time. Different kitchen staff for sure. Will still return."

  • "The food is awesome and our server was very attentive. The only issue is that upon walking in after making a reservation on open table I was told they do not accept reservations and it's a first come first serve, find your own seat type of place. So I was a little annoyed when I had to stand around like a fool. But as always the beer is great and the food was amazing! Highly recommend the shepherds pie and the garlic Parmesan pretzel! Enjoy!"

  • "If you like craft beers, tasty Irish food, and a cozy atmosphere, this casual, relaxed pub-like restaurant is for you. Friendly, with great service...there is nothing in this experience not to like."

  • "Have been to the restaurant many times for lunch. Though had an enjoyable experience, the menu keeps changing and not for the better. They used to have a delicious lobster salad....gone. They used to offer a quinoa and feta salad ....gone. Mussels in wine....gone. Please bring back some of these deleted items. On a positive note their grilled chicken is delicious and plentiful and the pizza looked delicious."

  • "Same name as the "Ginger Man" in Manhattan but nowhere near the quality or selection of beers as the one in the city. Didn't even have a ginger brew on the menu, a staple of the restaurant. Spoke to the waiter and found out that "it's the same concept but different owners and doesn't carry the same stuff" which translates to "the original ginger man has a great reputation amongst business people in the city so let's use the name to attract commuters." If you're looking for the same experience as the one in the city, save your time and money because you'll be disappointed."

  • "We have been to The Gingerman a few times and are never disappointed. The food is good, the service is quick, the atmosphere is lovely. We always ask for the back room so it is definitely quit in there and allows for some good conversation and ambience."

  • "I ordered a Burrata + Prosciutto salad which had a few measly little daubs of burrata, though the salad and prosciutto were tasty. My husband ordered the avocado + quinoa salad . . . no avocado. But the quinoa salad was tasty. Seems like whoever gets a last look at the dishes was napping. Otherwise a nice meal"

  • "This was spontaneous visit. Maybe hungry and in the area. The Ginger Man was a very pleasant surprise! A cozy fireplace, very expert and pleasant service, comfortable ambience, an amazing beer menu and great food make this a place that we will definitely visit again."

  • "I was very surprized when I was at the bar at how friendly the bar people were. I was waiting for 2 girlfriends and ordered a drink at the bar. The bartender engaged in a pleasant conversation which brought in the person next to me and before you knew it I was engaged in conversation with 3 people. My friend came and we were shown to a really nice table by the fireplace, super comfy seating. The food was excellent and service was great. Prices are reasonable and we had a really nice time. I would highly recommend this restaurant to people of all ages."

  • "The Ginger Man is a really great experience, especially if you're seated either near the fireplace or upstairs. We had neither, but still had a more than enjoyable experience on valentines day. The service more than made up for a slightly sub par dining location under the stairs. I mean, not everyone can have the perfect table, so no hard feelings there. The staff was courteous, responsive, and fast. I commented on how good the raspberry cheesecake sounded while ordering our entree, and confirmed we would be having it for dessert. Literally 120 seconds after taking our plates, and without further prompting, our raspberry cheesecake appeared. Magnificent!"

  • "It was exciting sitting near the old fireplace surrounded by a warm atmosphere in Greenwich, thinking this is gonna be terrific comforting high end pub food. Wrong. The starter, an "artichoke dip" was watery underseasoned sourcream with maybe some small chunks of something possibly artichoke but kept swimming away off the chip. The half chicken so oversalted it could not be half-finished. Same for the greens: overcooked in oil and tons of salt. The only saving grace: fresh fries. So just because this place has been around the block and is in lovely downtown Greenwich, doesn't mean can let quality slip, slip, slip away--cuz so will us diners!"

  • "Great for groups -- so many choices for food and drinks that this place will please everyone. Service was slower than we would have liked-- waiter had too many tables to serve and was very busy. Food quality is above average bar food, nothing crazy. Beers and drink options are great. It's a definite go-to spot for friends."

  • "the beer menu is excellent, and the beer menu informative. it helps greatly the alcohol content % is noted for those who don't like their beer too strong. the food menu is good but not for those on a vegan diet. i asked the server to hold the crumbled goat cheese from my salad and they were fine with that. but would be great if the gingerman had 1 or 2 vegan options on the menu,.. maybe even 1 vegan salad & 1 vegan entree. overall though i would still go back... i especially like the quieter upstairs dining room, but it was booked for a private function."

  • "I know I can always count on this local spot for great service, consistently good food and a warm inviting environment. I was sorry to see that some of my winter favorites like the Guinness beef stew were taken off the menu but dinner was lovely as usual and good quality and quantity for the money."

  • "The Ginger Man(GM) in Greenwich, CT was such a wonderful dining experience! Yearly, we plan a dinner out with our husbands, and this January, The Ginger Man was the location! Perfect choice! Although they didn't need to, they saved our table for us, even though we arrived about 30min. AFTER our reservation time..Tnx GM! Our waiter, Rodney, was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu items and present throughout the two and a half hours we were there! The choice of food items was extensive and every one of our choices were delicious! The boys enjoyed amazing beer from an extensive list, and we were able to bring our own wine (have a large collection at home:) The fireside table added the perfect touch to the dinner! We'll soon return!"

  • "I have often eaten at GM and was looking forward to a great burger. On this visit (Saturday night) both my husband and I were disappointed. GM just didn't love up to its previous good eats. The burgers lacked the grilled flavor we love and even the fires, usually a stand out, were "off". Everything was good but not great. Commendations do go to our server who guided my beer selection….and it was excellent!"

  • "Nice Brunch, but we waited nearly 45 minutes for our meal. That is unacceptable. Nice selection for Brunch however and everyone at our table was pleased. Eventually."

  • "This place reminds me a bit of the gastro pubs one would find in London. The food is all very good in an upscale pub kind of way. The service is, well, pub-ish. But the most impressive thing about this place is its ambience. The rear room with the fireplace has a feeling of a much more upscale dining spot. The bar is quite lively and warm with its wood tones. If craft beer is what you are about then this is your place. If you prefer wine, I think the bottle choices are better than their by-the-glass offerings which could use some improvement."

  • "While there are lots of choices on the menu, we were looking for a good place in Greenwich to have a burger. We found it. Excellent burgers and very tasty hand cut fries. The beer list, both on draft and in the bottle, is imaginative and extensive. The service was good too. If you want a quieter table, ask to sit upstairs. If you don't mind the hustle and bustle of a busy bar crowd, you'll be very happy downstairs."

  • "We went to GingerMan for a holiday dinner with 6 friends. The receptionist was rude, the service was poor, the noise level was intolerable, the tables were jammed together and the soup was so salty it was inedible. Never going there again."

  • "Whenever, but especially when we decide at the last minute that we don't feel like cooking, The Ginger Man is an easy fallback. solution. Parking on or off the Avenue can be a challenge but aside from that, its all good all the time."
    Dined on 12/15/2013
  • "We have dined at the Ginger Man many times and it is consistently good. The only thing that I find very weird is that they do not serve bread or rolls. When we asked the waiter why they don't serve them, he said all that we have to do is ask for them. Why should we have to ask? There were no bread baskets on anyone else's table either. How does a restaurant get away with that? All restaurants serve bread and rolls...even diners!!!!"

  • "The Ginger Man is always a great choice for a nice, Sunday Brunch. In the cold weather the warm fire burning is cozy! Food was great, portions perfect. Gets a bit busy, so reservations are a must on a busy Sunday or you could be waiting 40 mins for a table."

  • "We love going to The Ginger Man when we want a casual, relaxed, dinner. The food here is always great and service is always spot-on. The burgers and salads at GM are great! My husband had the NY Strip steak and really enjoyed it. Had a great seat right near the fireplace in the back room on a cold night with great food and drink......a perfect evening."
