A word from The Gaslight
Opened in February 2014, The Gaslight is a welcoming and unpretentious bar and restaurant in the historic Old City neighborhood of Philadelphia.

Executive Chef Jason Cichonski honed his cooking craft serving as executive chef of Lacroix at the Rittenhouse Hotel when he was just 24 years old. During his tenure, Lacroix was one of the city’s few to be honored with “Four Bells: Superior” status by the Philadelphia Inquirer’s revered restaurant critic, Craig LaBan. Before his success at Lacroix, Cichonski worked in other highly praised kitchens, including the Pluckemin Inn, a contemporary American restaurant in Bedminster, NJ and Moonlight, a progressive American restaurant in New Hope, PA. Most recently, Cichonski had the opportunity to further showcase and refine his cooking skills as a contestant on the popular Bravo TV cooking competition, Top Chef.

Diner Reviews
  • "Great food, great service! Cool spin on traditional American food. Chef himself brings out the dishes, which I thought was awesome."

  • "Their selection of drinks and food was great, we tried a few different things and everyone was satisfied. The outdoor seating was also very nice and the restaurant is located in a great area for a relaxing outdoor brunch."

  • "Took our son and daughter-in-law to be for a casual dinner. Dining room and bar are combined in one big room. Lively with many people at bar. We wanted to be away from the action, so found the only round table for four in a little area by the back staircase which was perfect. I had the strip steak and arugula which was delicious. Others had oysters, trout, flatbread and salad. All were excellent! Basel Haden Manhattans also good. No complaints. Although they said our table was above their bakery, yet we were never offered any bread. Only two desserts were offered, we declined."

  • "My girlfriend and I decided to go to the gaslight or a brunch and movie date. I decided to get the lemon pancakes and my girlfriend got the French toast with apples. We also got a side of their fried chicken. Everything was great and the service was good."
