  • "The Garden has delicious food, great service and is moderately priced. The view is great too!"

  • "Great atmosphere. Great service. The lasagna was delicious. The pork shank was very tender, but the demi-glace was far too salty. Overall, a good and fun place to eat."

  • "This was my 2nd time eating here. I really enjoy the the ambiance of the restaurant and the food was pretty good. The service was lacking. Everyone was very nice but just not great at their jobs. At $20/plate I would expect the same level of service. They could learn a thing or two from Chuck-o-rama. Train your employees!"

  • "My wife ordered the pesto chicken and it was not good. The sauce was cold. The chicken was dry and difficult to cut let alone eat. The only reason she did not return it was because we were with another couple. Two of us ordered the fish and chips with fruit and enjoyed it a lot. The fourth guest ordered a noodle dish which he also enjoyed. We had a wonderful time and will return. I was impressed as to how the individuals serving helped each other and were not concerned as to who's table was assigned to whom. Thanks for asking."

  • "We had out of town guests with us for this visit and it was lovely. Our server was perfect for our party of 8. We all enjoyed it immensely. Thank you for going above and beyond."

  • "This restaurant offered a great luncheon menu and the setting overlooking Temple Square was perfect. Great for a visit to Temple Square. Service was outstanding."

  • "We enjoyed our early dinner very much. The food was delicious and came out quickly. The atmosphere was pleasant and we enjoyed good service and great views. We will be coming back again."

  • "Nothing but good to say about the Garden Restaurant. The view is incredible, as was the service. Jacob, our server, made sure we had a great evening. The food came well prepared and as advertised. We couldn't have had a more enjoyable dinner anywhere else."

  • "My mother was visiting from out of town and we like to take her somewhere different and unique when she is in town. My wife and I also invited my in-laws and we had a tremendous evening. The atmosphere is inviting and the views are the best in town. We can't wait to go back. Don't forger to order the fried pickles!"

  • "The food was awful! We were here visiting from out of town and made reservations here for our anniversary (11 years). Our friends went with us didn't like the experience or food either! My fettuccine tasted awful, my husbands steak had a weird taste and texture, and my friends salad looked and tasted like it came from a bag! When we expressed that we did not like our food the waiter basically said it was our own fault. The restaurant was dirty and certainly not the place for a special occasion! I would NEVER eat here again or recommend it to anyone!!"

  • "Granted it has been several years since our last visit but both the service and the food quality were seriously lacking. Visiting the Garden Restaurant was usually a highlight for a visit to Salt Lake. The service was always excellent and we had confidence that we would really enjoy our meal no matter what we chose. We visited this year to celebrate our daughters birthday. We felt ignored by the server, she never offered to refill our glasses. We had made a special request to have the advertised birthday balloon service that seemed a little anti climatic since I had to remind the waitress about it. There was a card on the table wishing a happy birthday which was a nice touch. The food wasn't bad but it wasn't remarkable like it used to be."

  • "It is tradition for me to take my grandchildren to eat here overlooking the temple when they finish reading The Book of Mormon before we visit the other church sites nearby. The food is delicious and the spirit is always bright and welcoming and gracious. We always have a positive, lovely experience and enjoy the special treat of such great food! Thank you!"

  • "I knew the Garden was nothing special and never had a desire to go there. One Saturday I really wanted to go to the Roof restaurant for the views, but they were all booked up. I saw the Garden was having a Father's Day special of filet mignon and dungeness crab cakes, so I thought it would be worthwhile. I'd looked at their menu before and nothing looked worthwhile. But filet mignon and crab cakes sounded awesome. We arrive for our reservation and they're all out of the special. Unbelievable. I ask for a recommendation, accept it, and of course it's no good. Waste of money, waste of a night. The view was good but the Roof has a better view, closer to the temple and you can see capitol hill. The Garden food isn't worth the money."

  • "My husband & I were celebrating our 5th Anniversary & we're really excited to dine at the JS mem Bldg where we had our "grooms dinner" the evening before our wedding day-but we were so disappointed for a few reasons. 1st they had run out of ingredients for the evening special (fish & chips) which we were excited to order because we'd heard great things about it. 2nd our waiter forgot to bring our appitizer & our food took a considerably long time to be delivered, so we were starving. 3rd my husband ordered the salmon & for an $18 dollar plate the portion was minimal! However the evening wasn't all bad- the hostess staff was very friendly, my fettuccini was delicious & the view was beautiful! But sadly I don't think we would dine here again."

  • "The service was extremely slow and when the drinks came out, they were wrong! They were out of the daily special by 7:30 pm? Really? Then when the dinner arrived - my husbands was not there and with straight faces - they asked "Did you order something?" are you kidding??? So we ate while they rushed to cook his meal. The $15.00 shrimp crab salad had three asparagus, three shrimp, a dab of crab and a half of a hard boiled egg on mostly iceberg lettuce. Let's just say - it was a disappointment. To top the evening off - the waitress could not remember what we had ordered to get the bills ready and we waited over a half an hour to get the bills and pay them. The setting is lovely but they seriously need to redo the menu and train the staff."

  • "We started off with the artichoke dip appetizer. The fried pita bread slices are to die for. We could have left after the appetizer and been thrilled. Entrees were equally delicious. We had the chicken with mozzarella and tomatoes and the steak with mashed potatoes. Steak was a little overcooked but it was tender and juicy. We left happy and very satisfied."

  • "We had lunch to celebrate my daughters graduation. We were a larger group and the table was ready to go when we arrived. They even had a special gradation card for my daughter. The food portions were large and beautifully presented. The service was efficient and quick. The views were wonderful and the atmosphere perfect for our group."

  • "The Garden was all we expected it to be. We were celebrating our 48th anniversary and requested a table with a view of the Temple. We had a table next to the window and even a little "Happy Anniversary" card. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and the service prompt. We loved it! The food was delicious and just as recommended."

  • "Beautiful view, excellent food but very bad manners regarding children. The manager scolded my children for sticking their hands in the massive fountain in front. They weren't splashing just feeling the water. Also received many rude looks regarding my average active two year old. Very disappointed with their UN friendly young family atmosphere. "

  • "This was an excellant light dinner in a great location. One needs to remember that this is an LDS church owned restaurent, hence NO wine list!"

  • "We called for a reservation the day of and were seated immediately. There were a lot of high school kids there for Prom, but it was still relatively quiet in the room. The food was great, and the waiter was nice but he seemed pretty distracted (maybe high school boys are big tippers?) and once we got our food he didn't come by again until it was time for our check. He wasn't a terrible waiter or anything, just not great. I would definitely eat there again."

  • "Went for our anniversary thinking it would be a nice place to go. Service was slow, food was awful. Don't order the salmon unless you like sushi because they don't cook it. Was also kind of noisy. Pretty disappointing ."

  • "The Mother's Day special, a Cod dish was more like a fruit salad (with raspberries, blueberries and peaches) than a seafood entree. My mother's cod was tough. The home-made focaccia bread was good and so was the service."

  • "This was our first time at the Garden. The menu choices were plenty. The fried pickles were really good. The meals were great and the dessert tray looked fantastic, however, we did not have room for dessert that evening. The service was fantastic and friendly! The view was beautiful and the sunset behind the temple was perfect. We would recommend and definitely eat here again. Prices weren't too bad either."

  • "My Wife and I often eat at this restaurant when we are attending evening concerts in downtown Salt Lake City. The setting is quiet enough for us to have pleasant conversation while having dinner. If you are looking for a restaurant with a great wine list, this is not your place as they have none. We do not drink so it works for us."

  • "Our service was not good. Waited 20 minutes to be greeted by waitress. Our food was up and under the heat lamp for 10 minutes so it got cold. Had to get our our water refills from the service station. Not impresesed"

  • "This was my first time dining at The Garden. The view of the Salt Lake Temple and downtown in general is awesome. I took my 8 year old daughter there before a ball we were attending. She had the cheeseburger with fries and I had the flat iron steak with garlic mashed potatoes, vegetables, caramelized onions and onion demi glacé. The medium rare steak was medium, but the presentation and flavor was excellent. The staff was friendly, service was good but not particularly memorable. Overall, the experience was really good and I would definitely go back again. "

  • "We were celebrating a birthday! The weather was rainy and the roads were slick. The host at the restaurant was very patient with us because not all of us were on time. They made room for presents and joined in with our festivities. Everyone enjoyed the food. it was simple and elegant at the same time. We had very young children with us. Our waitress was very accommodating with them. We were in a very festive and happy mood and the waitress seemed happy to join in and had other workers express the birthday wishes also. The bread was so yummy. We could have just eaten that. When are food was delivered it was just the right temperature. We ordered a variety of food from fish tacos to lasagna. We also had dessert, the molten cake was heavenly!"

  • "At this rooftop restaurant you are paying for the view because the food is just mediocre. This restaurant is on the Mormon temple grounds, and this religions backwards view on caffeinated beverages is in full force so forget about ordering coffee (hot or cold) because only Coke product are offered in this joint."

  • "The food is okay for the price, but not outstanding. I had vegetarian lasagna, which could have had more vegetables in it and could have been hotter when it came to the table. I liked the warm bread to dip in olive oil and balsamic vinegar. I didn't have dessert, so can't say whether it would be good or not. The server was very attentive and personable. "

  • "Went here the night we got engaged 20 years ago...went back to celebrate our anniversary this weekend. Still a beautiful view, friendly waitress but the service was so slow we almost left. Arrived on tune for pour reservation and didn't get served our meal until an hour and a half after our arrival. The restaurant was only about 60% full, so it shouldn't have been an issue of being too busy. The food was decent but not spectacular. I'd try it again to see if we just got an off night."
