  • "wine touring in Temecula Valley. Had family in from out of town and we stopped by this restaurant after searching Open table. The name sounded so fitting for the area. The food was great (awesome corn side dish!) Steak was cooked to our liking. Bread pudding was great! My only issue was that upon checking in with my open table reservation the individual at the front counter was not very nice. Almost annoyed that I made the reservation with open table. I let it go but when the table across from us started to complain about their meal and she came over to see what the issue was she was basically arguing with him! What ever happened to the customer is always right?"

  • "Lived here for over 15 years and had not yet tried this restaurant....my loss. The petite filet mignon and accompaniments were fantastic. My friend tried the halibut...another great choice. The risotto was very tasty. The bar was loud as expected but once we were seated behind the glass partition, the noise was reduced significantly. Also enjoyed live music during dinner."

  • "Perfect for a group or a date night. First hand, came here with another couple, we both ordered the 24oz ribeye and split the steak with our other halfs. The ribeye was delicious, order it "oscar style" one of the best ive tasted. Also a must try is the lobster macaroni, they are very generous with the chunks of lobster. The mixed drinks were amazing."

  • "We had a great meal on the outdoor patio which included a very enjoyable duet singing and playing. Service and food were enjoyable. Unfortunately, we were seated next to a party of 14 celebrating a birthday who were loud, somewhat obnoxious, and took little or no care of their small children rushing about. Without them it would have been a five star evening."

  • "I had guests from out of town and wanted to take them to a restaurant with a little flavor of Temecula and the Gambling Cowboy fit the bill perfectly!! Had a great meal and the service was excellent. Reasonable prices and great ambience. Down side it was slightly loud, but our waitress placed us on the partitioned side of the dining room which helped considerably. Chet Millerd Temecula, California"

  • "We came here for Valentine's Day. The decor is so-so but the steak prices were reasonable. I ordered the Prime Rib, my husband had the filet mignon. Both were so delicious and tender. They had a kids meal for our daughter and she loved the chicken strips. The service was very good. The only thing I didn't like here was the parking - there wasn't much room for us to back out. We would definitely return to this restaurant but will park elsewhere, even if we have to walk a bit farther. By the way, no need to get dressed-up here. It is a casual restaurant with TV screens."

  • "Sunday special, prime rib sold by the ounce. Excellent rib roast, cooked as ordered, but a little fatty. House mashed potatoes fine, charred corn outstanding. Water, all we ordered, filled frequently. We will return when we find ourselves in Temecula."

  • "We were a little disappointed in the quality of the steaks we were served. Although the taste was not up to a fine steak house quality it was passable. I would not put this steakhouse in the Ruth Chris or even Flemings category. However the overall quality of food presentation and taste was good. We will have to take another run at this establishment to be sure it just wasn't a bad night for the chef's."

  • "This has become one of the primary places we bring friends when we all come to Temecula. The staff is always great, the food is wonderful, and there is a great deal of energy in the place. After 4 visits to this establishment I haven't had one bad or even sub par experience."

  • "Whenever I'm I n Temecula, I make a point to have dinner here. I only at seafood for a very long time and still had delicious swordfish, salmon, halibut, and calamari here over the years. Had a great halibut special and calamari this time and was very happy with both. Excellent chili sauce for the calamari. Wine is a little limited, but there's enough there to round out what you need, including highlights of some local wineries."

  • "My husband and I love dining at this restaurant. It's tucked away in Old Town Temecula, a real gem. The food is always amazing. Best steak in the area. The service is well-timed, friendly and knowledgeable. I recommend it to all my friends and try to dine there regularly!"

  • "This place takes you back in time, but it is located in "Old Town" Temecula, so its fits perfect in its surroundings. Enjoyed thier weekend breakfast which i would descibe as a country homestyle cooking. Best egg bendict, plate comes with potatoes and fresh fruit. I pre-ordered a side of extra sauce because other restaurants usually only put a spoonful. This was not the case here, not only was there perfect amount of sauce, the english muffin was not hard at all. I recommend the biscuits and gravy, which they make to order in a skillet and served in as well. They offer outside seating which is nice because its on the third floor; inside seating is avaialable but a bit dark for my taste. Will be visiting again."

  • "Our experience with the gambling Cowboy was positive all around. The service was excellent. The food offerings had good variety. The good itself was very good. The ambience is casual and western, which is a bit interesting given it's more pricey fare, but we were not disappointed. Highly recommend."

  • "this place was great! heavy traffic made us a bit late but posed no problem with the reservation.. we were impressed with the friendliness of all staff. the meals were delicious. good wine selections. looking for any reason to re-visit temecula so we can go to the Cowboy again!"

  • "The food here is outstanding! We started with bacon wrapped jalapenos drenched in raspberry sauce. It was devine! Mac and cheese was just naughty. The salad was fresh. The tuna melt was amazing. It was on parmesan bread, which made it greasy, so if you're being good, this bread is not for you. My man had fish and chips. The fries were good, and the fish had a great flavor. He loved it. The tartar sauce for dipping was even special. And also, we are very picky about slaw, and they got it perfect! Creme brule for dessert was just incredible! The best I've had! The waitress handled it well. She was a little moody, but hey, he was pregnant, so although she didn't go overboard with kindness, she wasn't rude."

  • "I'm a very picky eater and a health freak, therefore normally stick to home cooking. This place really impressed me. Great food, follow through with special orders, quality service in a very timely manner with friendly staff. I will definitely be back!"

  • "This steakhouse matches up with the likes of Donovan's and Flemings. Wine list needs expansion but I love the local on hands. Appetizers were great (raspberry Brie and bacon wrapped scallops). Steaks were cooked perfectly."

  • "I was looking for a place to go to dinner for my birthday, and wanted to try a new place in Old Town Temecula. I checked online for restaurants, and decided to try The Gambling Cowboy for their Sunday evening Prime Rib special ($1.50 per ounce.) From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was warm and inviting with its upscale, western feel. The staff was welcoming, pleasant and attentive, without being overly hovering. We ordered drinks, which were priced fairly and excellent--my husband ordered a Long Island Iced Tea which was not at all watered down and worth the price, and my local red wine was delicious. The prime rib was cooked to perfection and seasoned wonderfully. We will definitely be going back."

  • "Arrived early for our reservation so we could have a cocktail in the bar but wouldn't let us go to bar because it was to capacity. So had a drink in waiting area and gave us our table early. I had porterhouse which came before I finished my salad that replaced the overly spicy spinach salad.my wife had a New York.Ordered my porterhouse medium, just slightly pink but came med rare and wrong starch. Our server Amiee was very pleasant. We sat outside and table behind complained it was to warm so when they turned off heater it made our table cold.asked to turn it back on and table behind had them turn off again?Choose your battles so we didn't ask again.Overall pleasant and will give it another visit."

  • "The food here is very average. My steak came out undercooked and they could never make it correctly after that. My wife and I were disappointed because we had been looking forward to eating here for quite some time. We are gonna stay with our regular spot, The Public House. I suggest you do too."

  • "Gambling Cowboy is no gamble...it's the real deal. Lived in Temecula 2 years and this was our first visit to the Gambling Cowboy. Our experience was so wonderful we couldn't believe it took us so long to visit. My husband and I had the prime rib. I ordered it medium rare and it was perfect! My husband order end cut and it too was perfect. Our daughter had the filet mignon and she too said it was the best ever (she is a lobbyist in DC and attends lots of dinners and was totally impressed). The portions were very generous. The sides were fantastic as well. Service was great. Musician was wonderful, not too loud. Overall experience was fantastic. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "We are from out of town, but come to Temecula a number of times a year. We have been to the Gambling Cowboy for drinks a couple of times, but this time decided to make reservations through OpenTable and try the food. The food was great, the service wonderful, and the general atmosphere was festive and fun. We like it so much, we came back the next night!! Great place!!"

  • "Since we had a reservation we were disappointed to be put outside to dine even though there were heaters. My back was either cold or being broiled. We asked for an inside table but were told none were available. There seemed to be a MAJOR issue with their electricity so the lights were on again and off again. It became very annoying. When someone came around to see how everything was for our dinner they just ignored the comments we had about the flashing lights. I guess they were trying to solve the issue but nothing was said or done to try and make us feel more comfortable. Not sure we would want to try this spot again."

  • "Phoned in reservations, however they reserved for 2 instead of 4. Told me that because I made web reservation, I was outside. Three calls to correct. Ended up eating 1 hour later and in the only booth in the bar. Very noisy and lots of foot traffic Be very clear when you call and unless you want to automatically be put outside, don't use web app. Food and service is great as was manager."

  • "We went to the Gambling Cowboy for Thanksgiving dinner. The food was just wonderful. The service was good however the time between our salad course and actual main course seemed to be too long. I will most definitely return next time I am in the area."

  • "Our dinner was very good and we enjoyed it very much. Service was very good and timeliness of the food was just right. Two days later, we went to lunch and the service personnel were very good, courteous and friendly. However, our wait time was poor for a "Great Hamburger", over 40 minutes."
