  • "Overpriced for the food produced and for the inelegant setting. Loud inappropriate music, bare cheap-looking tables--no linens, not even a placemat. My husband's steak had gristle and was cheap cut of meat. My grouper was not fresh and had a "fishy" taste. Pistachio "crust" on it was soggy. We were very disappointed and felt we overpaid for a low quality experience. Server was nice but service was slow."

  • "Service was poor. We had a pleasant waitress who was forgetful and SLOW! One beverage was half a drink and the replacement took too long. Others at the table had finished their drinks by the time the correct drink arrived. Service of the meal was way too slow, I hosted the table for a birthday dinner and was embarrassed by the tardiness of the service. Waitress seemed indifferent to our concerns.."

  • "My grandparents are very picky when it comes to eating out. They decided to visit one weekend and left me the task of picking the restaurants. I chose The Front Porch for one of the evenings and they enjoyed it very much! We ordered oysters and the hush puppies as an appetizer. The hush puppies were pretty good, but the presentation was odd (a brown paper bag). The oysters were amazing and we ended up ordering another dozen. The fish soup was also excellent! The ceviche was nothing exciting. It seemed to be more fruit with flakes of seafood. I've also never had ceviche that was so soupy. If I went back I would not order that again. Our service was great, I think our server's name was Bryce. He was attentive and professional."

  • "I loved this menu! It was unique, and all food items were absolutely excellent! We started with the Cajun Shrimp and Crab Cakes as appetizers. The Cajun Shrimp were to die for! A lot of flavor and good kick! Then I got the grilled grouper with citrus rice. The fish was well seasoned and tender, and had a nice crisp finish on the outside. However, the service was slow at times, and things were forgotten with no apology. The serving staff started out very attentive and dwindled from there. The most annoying thing about the experience was that I was seated outside and the lights flickered all night. It was very distracting for a business conversation, therefore I would challenge that you should sit inside which has a much nicer atmosphere."

  • "The flavor of the food was very good, but the wait was horrible. It took a long time to get our drinks and appetizer. Then several minutes later our bread was delivered. It seemed like there was no urgency to deliver dinner. We had a similar experience a few months ago on a different visit. Finally when dinner was over, I had pre ordered desert for a birthday celebration, I asked for the desert. It took 15 mins to get it to us. Infact we had to grit our server to put into a box as we had a movie to catch. We scheduled 90 minutes for dinner, more than enough time."

  • "Four of us had brunch at the Front Porch on a beautiful day. It was a bit cold outside so we opted to sit inside. Very nice atmosphere and décor. Food was good except for one dish. My daughter had the crab salad, which was the most expensive dish on the menu. It was disappointing. Originally came with no dressing. She had to ask for dressing which was supposed to be avocado based, but simply looked like guacamole - not dressing consistency. The crab tasted like something from a can. She barely finished half of it. We'll give the place another try, though."

Greeted at door by a disinterested, unfriendly hostess and that general attitude carried through the evening with almost everyone we encountered. Server was distracted, seemed too busy or uninterested - commented at one point there was a large party ahead of us. Lengthy waits for appetizer and an eternity between appetizer and meal. 90 minutes after we arrived we were finally served our meal (not by our original server). The food was good but the whole experience was so not worth the $100 for a party of 2. One previous dinner about 6 months ago service was ok, but again just not worth the $$$. Will not return."

  • "I had a very bad experience. i wanted to take my girls there for brunch and the waitress was very sweet but i did not understand why a table that came 20 mins after me got there food first. My biggest problem there was that our food was so bad. We had order steak and eggs and our steak came out with the stinky sour smell that we were scared to eat it. Then we had ask to bring another one out and it was the same. We had also order the chicken and waffle. The chicken was so dry and the waffle was like uncooked in the center . I am sorry it was a nice environment but i would never take my girls to eat there again."

  • "Everybody I had asked spoke so highly of The Front Porch and their happy hour. I was very disappointed. Their happy hour is 4pm-7pm and has very limited choices. I was looking forward to trying the blueberry martini, however, was told that it was not part of the happy hour. I thought the restaurant was too overpriced and not worth the money for what you received. The service was as bad, if not worse, than the drink specials. I will not be going back."

  • "We were excited to try out Front Porch for brunch. I've only ever been there before for cocktails and the oyster bar, which was quite good. Brunch, however, was a huge letdown. We mainly went because they were doing an event with the Tallahassee Museum - which was great, and the ambiance at Front Porch is wonderful. The food, however, was an incredible disappointment. After waiting 30+ minutes for our food, several of our group's dishes arrived ice cold. Moreover, my crab benedict had a seriously disappointing lack of crab meat in it, and the poached egg yolks were hard, possibly from sitting under a heating lamp too long. But we ate b/c we were starving after having waited so long, so we received no discount or even apology."

  • "I saw the website and was excited by the menu. The wine was very good and my server but that was about it. The calamari appetizer was too salty, the hush puppies too bland and the tuna entree was rice and tuna with a weird cocktail sauce on top. The menu stated a peach sauce. I couldn't eat it and sent it back. I had to wait forever for a disappointing meal. I ordered a crab salad to go. It was passable but not at $22 for lettuce and a bit of crab meat. I was told the chef left and staff was cooking until new chef arrived. That doesn't help customers like me from out of town hoping for a good meal. Go to Cypress if you want a good meal."

  • "Perhaps it was because I had recently been to Apalachacola where the food was superb, but the food seemed very mediocre for an "upscale" restaurant. Also, there were multiple items that you were out of that would usually be standard pantry stock. I would understand running out of a specific fish but running out of nuts for sundaes, etc., seems like it should not happen."

  • "Visiting FSU and was looking for something local. This place is a great find! Great ambiance, very casual, love the outdoor "porch" seating and the outdoor bar. Food was great! Apps: Fried Oysters, Oyster and Clam combo and Cajun shrimp, all excellent! Shrimp and grits, Seared Yellow fin tuna(very sicy glaze) and pisctacio grouper. All really good."

  • "Went for a belated Valentine's dinner with my boyfriend. I ordered the BBQ glazed salmon, and he wanted the pistachio-crusted grouper. Unfortunately, they were out of grouper, so they offered to do the crust on a snapper instead. Our waitress was attentitve, however, our food seemed to take a little while to get out to us, which I wasn't too upset about. I could see they were busy. My only negative comment (and really it's not that negative, but it's why I didn't rate higher), the smoked cheddar grits just didn't seem as though they had a "smoky" flavor, which is why I ordered them. However, the salmon and the snapper tasted very fresh and cooked extrely well!!"

  • "I visited the Front Porch last year, and was very satisfied with my whole dining experience, from service, to the quality of food, reason why I repeated it this year, but this time the service was not very good, neither the food. The appetizers where some dry and other salty, even the bread was not good, and the waitress said it was because it was not made by the regular person..., really? I will try it again in a few months, because I love the place, but I hope they can fix this mishaps"
