  • "beautiful spot but food was disappointing would not eat there again"

  • "Just down the street from the Biltmore Estate, this restaurant has it all from appetizers to dessert. The gazpacho is as good as I've ever had and the bread pudding was worthy of a visit on its own. And our server, Eddie, was terrific and his drinks were even better. Thanks CK."

  • "The hostess and the waiter we had were very good. Our food order we had to reselect a couple of times because items were either out of season or not available Saturday. The problem with a menu that carries seasonal items becomes a irritation for the guest when each time you choose something and it's not available, this happened with both the fish and the wine. Once we finally did pick something they had, it was very good. The noise and ambiance was very low key and relaxing, even with people sitting next to you it felt like you had your own table. The restaurant has enormous potential, I hope they fine tune some things on their menu."

  • "Already posted a review on Yelp. Don't waste your money at this place. They need to learn how to cook--overdone shrimp in two dishes, overdone spaghetti. How simple are those things to cook?? No flavor. For those prices , you need to serve better food. Won't be back. Don't understand the crowds."

  • "My boyfriend and I had brunch at the Front Porch last Saturday morning. He's more of a breakfast fan so he got the omelet and I got the lobster bisque. Overall, the food was good. Nothing to write home about though. The complimentary biscuits were a little on the dry side. I love the ambiance of this place, though! Will go back."

  • "While the food was good, the gnats and flies made the dining experience unpleasant."

  • "From the moment you walk up to this establishment you are transposed to the coast. The menu is limited, but done superbly. The seafood was prepared perfectly, the ceveche was delish, and so was the shrimp and grits. Their staff was knowledgeable and kind. Would recommend, and excited to try brunch."

  • "I was disappointed in the food at The Front Porch. What a beautiful setting to waste on so-so food. The prices at The Front Porch set us up for higher expectations. This could have been a fabulous evening but it wasn't."

  • "Service a little slow. 4 adults dining. Requested drinks on 1 check & remainder on seperate check. Charged drinks & 2 dishes on 1 check & rest on main check, gave air if annoyance when this was pointed out to her, did not offer to redo checks as originally requested. Food & atmosphere were good."

  • " The ambience was VERY GOOD Our server, Desiree was VERY GOOD--she introduced herself right away and pleasant and was very attentive to our needs and getting our food to us in a timely manner. However, after we were served and she checked on us to make sure how we were doing, it seemed that the area my husband and I were sitting in was being closed down because it took a long time for her to come back and give us our check and then even longer to get our credit card slip back. And the food was mediocre at best-not very flavorful and not much of a choice other than grits with the seafood entrees."

  • "the food was bland, I don't like spicy food, but expect my food to have some flavor to it. the entrees we had were grouper and shrimp with grits. These are all staples of the Florida Gulf Coast, but the Chef missed the boat; its hard to mess these entrees up, but....."

  • "This venue is excellent for the social group type. Although my first visit, I saw no settings that indicated romantic dining available. The cuisine was very tasty and the wine choices admirable. The staff knowledge of entrees's and wine was very astute. I will recommend to friends and family for their evaluation."

  • "The best service probably in all North Florida as I am a well traveled foodie. Love the atmosphere and decor. The selection of alcoholic beverages is amazing! Favorite place in town to get a great night started."

  • "The food was great and the customer service was about average. However the atmosphere is a little misplaced, and the menu is a bit pricy"

  • "I felt the food should have been much better. I tried ordering 2 items off the menu but they were unavailable. They had specials that night but they were not seafood. Very beautiful setting with outstanding service but the food fell well below my expectations. I can say that I have tried it, but will not recommend it to others"

  • "My wife and I went for our anniversary. Smoking appears to be allowed in the outdoor dining area which is ridiculous in this day and age. My wife's Grouper was raw. I had Snapper which was good but the sides (citrus rice and asparagus) were room temp to cold. For a restaurant with entrees in the 25-35$ range they need to do better. The atmosphere is great and the wait staff is friendly and attentive, but I would not go back for dinner. Probably best for drinks and appetizers. "

  • "Grits and shrimp was really good, although I could do without the tails. Hush puppies verrrry interesting! BUT! Barbecued shrimp had to be sent back because the BBQ sauce was way too salty. Two suggestions: make it without salt and have a shaker on the table, and serve it on the side."

  • "Really enjoyed all aspects, food and service. Will always have dinner when in town. "

  • "Not worth the price.... I can get a better meal at Old Town for 1/5 the the price. My cushioned bench seat was so low, I could just about shove my food in my mouth on the same level. My grouper was very dry, the grits were dry, and what ever sauce was drizzled on it did not enhance the flavors nor give it any moisture at all. The lobster bisque was excellent and thank God for dessert. It was the best part of the meal. My husbands shrimp in the grits was delicious, however the sweet sauce that was on it, again, was less than desirable. All in all, while we were so excited to finally dine at your establishment, we were very disappointed. My feelings are: when I pay that price, I expect "outstanding". This fell mighty short. Sorry."

  • "Asked for an omelette without cheese; it came with cheese and took a long time to get rectified. Shrimp appetizer was too greasy and badly overseasoned; fried green tomatoes were gummy and thick with cheese inside and a bad orangey-red tasteless sauce. Service quite ineffectual and inattentive. The fab ambience almost made up for it... except that loud nouveau-country-pop music was playing insistently; yuck. We will give this another try but probably only one more. "

  • "Enjoyed our anniversary dinner at The Front Porch. The food was exceptional! The atmosphere and service too! Will certainly return there for dinner again, and again."

  • "This is our favorite spot in town for the beautiful setting, excellent service, festive cocktails, THE BEST calamari and all-around great seafood."

  • "We(4) had different menu items, all of which were quite well prepared. Very tasty and portions were adequate. Our waitress was prompt and offered help and answered all questions to our satisfaction.Service was timely and dessert was superb. A better dining experience I have not had in many a moon. And certainly equal to the eateries I dined in in Germany and France."

  • "I was disappointed in my experience at the Front Porch this Mother's Day. I will not be back frequently. We had an early reservation, 3-4 parties at the hostess stand and no hostess. Waited about 10 minutes past appointed time. We were finally seated outside, in front of the porch, on the patio. The bartender was responsible to serve all 5-6 tables on the patio plus the bar. Service took two and a half hours, and they did not appear that busy. The fish was dry. We were told grilled asparagus was the vegetable, and were delivered undercooked green beans. Drinks remained empty far too long. The flourless chocolate cake was delicious, however. It wasn't server's fault the management did a poor job staffing the restaurant."

  • "My husband and I had a very pleasant, relaxed dinner which included great tasting grouper and snapper meals. We enjoyed the small rooms available, which make dining more intimate. The service was flawless and friendly. The bartender was quite helpful in choosing a wine. We also had the crab cakes appetizer and found them to be excellent. Although we sat inside for our meal we were at the porch bar prior to being seated and found it to be a lovely, relaxed atmosphere. What makes this even better is the location of the restaurant - not far from home. "

  • "My husband and I had brunch on Mother's Day and enjoyed it very much. The food was delicious and fresh. The service was friendly and efficient. The restaurant reminds you of a large house with a large front porch, hence the name of the restaurant. Nice atmosphere and great dining for all ages. I would recommend to others and look forward to coming back to try their other dishes."

  • "Wine and salad were good but it's hard to mess that up. We ordered hush puppies and they came in a brown bag and were very dry. We don't know if they were old, microwaved or both. The main entrees were lackluster....they didn't have the punch we felt the meals should have had. While our dinner was rather expensive we were there on a very generous gift card we received as a Christmas gift so we left not feeling like we spent too much for a less than average meal."

  • "I love this place! We went on a Saturday night for dinner. The band was great and the service was excellent. The food was outstanding with great service. Event the dessert was amazing!"

  • "My wife and I have eaten at The Front Porch many times. We looked forward to our Saturday evening out, but were sorely disappointed. Almost 45 minutes to get a glass of wine. Our entree arrived well before our appetizers. The Southern Misto was burned. When the server took it back to the kitchen, it was replaced with one that was half-burned. Did they just remove half of it and mix it with some fresh? The cerviche was about one-half of the normal serving. We assumed they were running low due to the post law school/med school graduation crowd. The finale was we were given the wrong check by our server. She apologized, but one more oversight. We will give it one more try, but if not successful, we will move on."

  • "Whether you're looking to celebrate a special occasion, go out for a fancy splurge, or seeking a romantic, "candle-lit" atmosphere for an evening outing, The Front Porch is a total treat. I especially recommend the outdoor dining on the deck, which is surrounded by beautiful twinkle lights, a sleek bar, and often live acoustic music. This cozy spot on Thomasville Road feels like a peaceful escape and sits in one of the best locations in Tallahassee. Conveniently located across the street is The Wine Loft, a similarly upscale and hip place to go for a post-dinner cocktail!"

  • "We really enjoyed the Front Porch atmosphere, food and beverage. The staff was excellent and we had a great time enjoying our daughters college graduation! We will definitely be back again."

  • "We enjoyed a very memorable graduation dinner at the Front Porch on May 3rd, 2014. The wait staff were very pleasant and we were seated right away. The food was superub and the wait staff were very knowledgable about the specialty items. Great location for any special occasion."

  • "Granted it was a rainy night so we couldn't sit outside, but the dining room where we were seated lacked ambiance. White walls, no windows, limited art and color. Felt isolated. Food was good but not fabulous. "

  • "The brunch menu has quite a few selections which sound very attractive. The food however is average at best. The service is good but doesn't make up for the food at this price point. "
