Diner Reviews
  • "Went for lunch with friends. Noticed they offered a price fixed lunch for $25 (Wine or dessert, soup or romaine salad, entree). Started with two glasses of chardonnay, changed one appetizer order from spinach salad to romaine to fit the price fixed deal. Ordered one desert to go, only because it came with the meal. We were charged an additional $18 a glass for the wine, plus $10 extra for the dessert. I realized the mistake on the drive home and called the manager. I was told that the wine we ordered (chardonnay) was not on the price fix and neither was the dessert. When I asked why the waiter didn't day anything, I was told they are under no obligation to promote the specials. We were supposed to guess as to which wines were included."

  • "Not a lot to say. Just simply perfection. They're just on a different level , simply the best choice in New Jersey."

  • "An established restaurant that has never skimped on quality. Highlights of meal were the tuna sashimi, and veal shoulder special of the evening. The tasting menu is a great value too. Try to go on a Sunday when the corkage fee is waived. I look forward to going again when the menu changes. Only recommendation for them would be to try to improve the service. I did not consider it to be bad, but in a restaurant where the food is that good, the wait staff should try to equal it. For example, when being served they could not provide descriptions of what each plate was composed of. This kind of info contributes to a diner's experience."

  • "I was surprised that the meal needed salt; very rarely do I have to add salt when dining out at this type of restaurant"

  • "Always pleased when we dine. I wish I got the Manhattan clam chowder, had a taste, excellent. We ordered the scallop sushi and scallop po'boy (needs a lighter bread like a brioche). Overall very nice lunch."

  • "Our experiences at The Frog and The Peach have always been superb but when they know we are there for a special occasion they treat you like a celebrity!!!! We strongly recommend the restaurant to everyone we meet."

  • "The Frog and the Peach is consistent. We were meeting in New Brunswick for a celebratory dinner. The waiter was excellent, attentive but not over bearing, service is always very good here. The prices are high and the portions are small to average but the food is consistently good. We had pork chop, pasta and seafood and everyone was happy with their choice. We passed on dessert. When in New Brunswick it is by far, one of the few very good places for dinner."

  • "The hostess was extremely nice, and our waitstaff was friendly. They had an ongoing June promotion of .50 clams, so we ordered a dozen steamed clams as well as the raw oysters on the specials menu for appetizers, both amazing! We could have continued to just order clams and oysters, and it would have been just as good a dinner! My husband ordered the Grilled Berkshire Pork Loin Chop and said that it was the best pork chop he ever had. I had the Long Island Duck Breast and not only was it tender, but the skin was cripsy and the taste was delicious against the ragout of artichokes and the chianti sauce. The duck sausage was a plus. Everything was ful of flavor! Definitely coming back!"

  • "Glad we made the effort to go to New Brunswick - the Frog and the Peach was well worth it. Had the tasting menu with the wine pairing. The white asparagus/ham appetizer was outstanding - fresh and flavorful. The service was excellent. The free champagne aperitif was a great touch. Great escape with wife from kids and work. One suggestion to improve the tasting menu would be to add one or maybe even two extra dishes - which I think is more the norm for a tasting menu."

  • "We were made to feel very special throughout your dinner. We were asked if very thing is good or need anything thought out our whole dinner experience. The food was just enough and very tasty."

  • "I was unhappy with the waitress, who was not friendly and seemed annoyed at us having a baby with us. Great manager and ambiance though, but not kids friendly. Food is overly priced for the quality."

  • "As usual, my wife and I had a wonderful dinner here. Food and wine were impeccable. Service was discreet yet attentive. Pace was perfect."

  • "From the minute we paid $9.00 + tip to valet the car, things were down hill. The bus boy was outstanding and very attentive. The two waiters were inattentive and the menu had too many pork products added to entrees. I had the smallest piece of halibut and the price was high. We have been to this restaurant numerous times and this was true disappointment. We won't be back there anytime soon. The sweet potato fries at $8.00 were very tasty."

  • "Wonderful, beautiful spot, especially for a romantic date night. The black truffle ricotta gnocchi appetizer was absolutely mouth-watering, and is highly recommended. The beef tenderloin and bison dishes were both expertly cooked (medium rare, as recommended). For dessert I had the angel food cake, which was both light and sinfully tasty. This restaurant definitely shines in portion sizing. Everything was large enough to be satisfying, but small enough that I could have an appetizer, main meal, and dessert without feeling stuffed or pressured to eat more than I wanted to. Also, they brought out freshly-baked bread several times. The prices were a little steep, but the food is amazing and it's worth it for a special occasion."

  • "The service if you want to call it that, started with a waitress that would not speak, and when asked for something all she would ask was WHAT. Then a waiter came and asked if we undestood the menus, then she came back and it was down hill from there, this was on the third floor dining room and we were the only people there for a while. Will probably come back another time but our experience was not good they should make the buss boys the waiters they kept warm bread on the table and refilled our water glasses constantly."

  • "Every time I have dined at the Frog and Peach the food and service has been outstanding. It is a great place to take out of town visitors or to celebrate a special event. It isn't cheap but is definitely worth the expense occasionally."

  • "I have been eating here for years. It remains one of my favorites. One of three desserts for the table was very mediocre & one was OK, not outstanding as in the past. One complaint... we had to ask twice for refills of drinks...that should not happen at a restaurant of this caliber. There were too many people tending to us. It became almost confusing. The appetizers and dinners were excellent as always. Will definitely return! "

  • "I took my girlfriend here the other night for our 2 year anniversary. The food was ok, not justified at this price point. Service was non existant. Our waitress did not provide the type of experience we were expecting, she did replace a drink that my girlfriend didn't like but other than that we did not see her at all most of the night. She didn't even check to see if we were enjoying our meal. I could write more but overall if you plan on enjoying a night out for a fine meal this is not the place. "

  • "We had been to the Frog and the Peach many years ago and remembered it very fondly. However, our trip down memory lane did not go so well. The restaurant had only one what you could call vegetarian entree (spaghetti with salt and pepper ?) and no offer was made to prepare a different option even though when I had called earlier in the week I was told "the chef can whip something up for you". They were out of our first two wine selections and the service was spotty and slow, our drinks' order taking too long to arrive. The food was good but could not make up for the other flaws in our experience. "

  • "My husband and I went for our wedding anniversary in February, which was noted on the Open Table reservation. Without mentioning anything when we walked in, the staff treated us to champagne as they paid attention to the notes on the reservation. Our dessert plate was decorated with the note Happy Anniversary. Very nice touches. Food was very good, though the menu was limited at the time we went. The staff was very attentive without being obtrusive and helped to provide us with a very memorable evening."

  • "I had my graduation dinner here on Saturday and it was lovely. One person in my party ordered the five-course tasting menu, while another ordered the three-course pre-theatre menu. We thought this might be a problem, but the server was very accommodating. The result was that we all got to taste a number of dishes on the menu. The lamb and the chicken were both incredible. The lemon cake was also delicious. I would definitely return! "

  • "Had a great business dinner in their greenhouse room - my first time to this long-time NJ award winner. Prosecco with a splash of limoncello to start was a great new aperitif find. The octopus starter was incredibly tender and well seasoned. The duck was lean with a superb sauce. "

  • "My colleagues and I recently had a wonderful meal at The Frog and The Peach. The food, drinks, service, etc. was all amazing. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends and family. Also the sticky pudding and chocolate lava cake were to die for!"

  • "Wait staff very friendly and attentive, but frequently reached across guests in conversation to collect plates, serve dishes. Nice sunny open seating area, but not particularly special for the price of the meal, which is relatively high ($68 for brunch, with $8 sides). The food was very good, in general - interesting with nice presentation. I had Mahi Mahi, which was fairly bland but tasty and a safe bet for the less adventursome. One of our party had the lamb, which he still raves about."

  • "It had been years since I graduated from Rutgers but I thought the Frog and the Peach would be a great in-between spot to spend Mother's Day with the family - I'm in NY and my parents are just outside of Philly. The atmosphere of this place remains excellent and the service is still good (not great). The waiter could have definitely done a better job knowing what was on the menu and was kind of pushing the group to spring for paying $8 for additional sides even though we were already paying for a $68 prix fixe menu... Unfortunately, it was the food that was rather hit or miss. Some parts of the group had the steak, which was described as simply excellent. Tender and delicious. Unfortunately, I went for the Halibut. I found it rather bland."

  • "They could at least heat food if they charge $400 for 2 adults and 2 kids (adult's menu) on mother's day. French fries was hot but over fried, very bad! We wouldn't visit this place again."

  • "Arrived early to 1/2 empty restaurant. Told they couldn't seat us.(hubby& me& 82 yr old mom w bad knees) Came back 1/2 hr later. Still 1/2 empty (4:30 Sunday) Requested a nice tbl for special occasion. Got the worst: Upstairs in back, next to servers station. (I knew my mom would have difficulty w stairs, I asked hostess: r u sure this is the best u can do? This is painful for her) Not. No music, just the din of silverware clanking, so asked to turn up music. Not. Service limpid, at best. Food: 2/3 apps/dinners/desserts good. 1/3 not. Having owned restaurants for 20 yrs, thought I'd share w hostess when she asked "how was everything?" Her mgr ducked away & the sweet young lady couldn't manage more than "Sorry." Disrespectful @$130 pp!"

  • "The food was outstanding, but the room was a little crowded and noisy. It would have been better to be with a larger group, as where we were sitting we were surrounded by several larger groups and our little table for 2 was lost in all the hustle and bustle."

  • "We come back again and again for the Friday Date Night special and it never disappoints. The pairings are carefully selected and bring out great flavors in each course. The angel food dessert was my favorite, as it was every so gently toasted on the outside, yet still soft and moist on the inside."

  • "My wife and I go here to eat at the bar, for our birthdays (birthday coupon helps!), our anniversary (again, coupon is a great idea!) and we're never disappointed! Food's great, service is great and the entire experience is wonderful! We always talk about trying somewhere new for our special dinners, but always say "why would we bother?" A+"

  • "We celebrated our wedding anniversary at The Frog and the Peach and we are so glad we did! Our dinners were excellent - the steamed halibut was just perfect and my husband's beef tenderloin was simply delicious. We were treated to a lovely dessert afterwards. The service, as always, was impeccable. We love this restaurant and would definitely recommend it. Just aware that the valet parking has a charge of $10 which is not posted. "
